Social media is pretty great right? When you’re bored you just naturally out of habit go onto your phone and play a game or go on Snapchat to talk to your friends or watch funny videos. It easily kills time when you need it to; it can take time away from doing what you need to do. Even though it’s super fun to be on, I think it’s super negative! A lot of people think that social media is all positive, but it’s not. I believe that social media is a huge negative source in our lives. Many studies have shown that being on your phone or social media too much can actually lead to addiction or isolation to other people. I don’t understand why you would want to be on social media that much to where you would get addicted to it and not even want to
Unless all you’ve been doing for the last year and a half is binging Netflix, you may have noticed that we’ve inaugurated a new POTUS, and that’s come with a fair amount of strife throughout the country (and abroad). The United States as a whole are mostly running a little hot right now, and by “a little hot” I mean quite a few people are fucking boiling 24/7. We’re three days into the new administration and we’ve already had the largest protest in American history.
Welcome to Facebook, the community where someone you would have a crush on in class is only a click away. Poke. Poke back. Poke. Poke back. And possibly a few “likes” on his or her pictures. Facebook is a place where it connects people through social networking.Without the empowerment of Facebook, children would use their “free time” to do useless things like exercise and God forbid, go outside.Who even goes out to hangout with friends, that is totally not cool anymore. Gone are the days where you have to actually get off your ass off the couch and play with friends. Now all you have to do is log into this majestic world and virtually play game. Even send that crush of your's a cute little note, hand written or I mean typed of course. No more worrying about sitting in class watching him crinkle open that note and you thinking, "What did I just do?" or "What if he doesn’t even read it? Not to worry you can actually see if he read it or not. Ohh and exactly at what time and day. “Facebook taught us that the Internet could be used to share our lives in a way and with a scope that was novel, and just as the dominant communication tool of the moment was growing ponderous.”(Cava, Marco Della)
In the United States, there are certain inalienable rights granted to all. As the Declaration of Independence of the original thirteen colonies states, "among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."(Jefferson, 1787, Declaration of Ind., Pg. 1) These rights are not "special rights." While the U.S. government cannot hold back upon these rights, it does have the power to ratify and enforce laws that will enable or restrict its citizens' use of them.
What do you think about social media is it bad or not? Well this person Hilary Stout’s she thinks that,“Kids today are less interested in face-to-face communication with their friends than when I was growing up”also that “Today exchanges with friends are more superficial and more public” and “With children’s technical obsessions starting at ever-younger ages”. I do agree on Hilary stout’s argument that kids this days are more into the network world then in the real world.
So I ask, what is social media? Social Media is websites and applications that allow users to create and share contents or surf social networking. Social Media has its pros and cons. Some social media accounts ask a lot of questions and clarifications about your background, such as your number, email, birthday, and so on to confirm the account you want to make. Other social media don’t ask for much information, maybe just an email and number. Most social media sites say that you have to be at least 13 to make an account. It can be very addicting to people. Without social media, many of us would be bored because we don’t have that variety of didn’t entertaining or interesting things. You can post pictures on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and so on and get a lot of likes and comments. Or if you post on snapchat, you’ll get a lot of views. Social Media gives you the control to post, like, comment, and share. It’s like having your own imaginary world that you have power over. As I said before, social media comes in all kinds of ways and everyone is dean to find something they like about it.
To begin with, social media has been proven to be a dangerous addiction due to the many negative side effects like: sleep deprivation, and self-esteem problems. Most of the adult American population is connected to some sort of social media site, and they have joined the banned wagon of people whom check their social media accounts at least five times a day. Using social media to often can be time consuming and essentially causes sleep deprivation because the user stays up late on social media. Since social media has grown in popularity many have began to believe that social media is a life necessity. It is viewed by many as a daily necessity like brushing our teeth, or yet as important as eating. People whom are constantly on social media have been linked to develop self-esteem problems because they are so consumed on pretending and portraying this image of a person they are not. Social media has became such an addiction that many people wake up and the first thing they do is...

Students who excessively use social networking applications can be negatively affected because they are spending too much time on these applications rather than paying attention in class, completing homework, studying, s...
When you think about social media what do you think of. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Vine. Well social media is more than that. Social media is not just Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Social media is any online website that lets you interact with other people, share photo and information and keeps you updated. Or do you think about how it’s made a positive or negative impact on today’s society. In my personal opinion I think social media has made both positive and negatives impacts on today’s society .Some of the negative impacts are cyberbullying and addiction, and the positive impacts are spreading the word and increasing business sales.
First of all, there are several reasons as to why social media has the potential to be extremely addictive to users. Many believe that “as in the case of other types of addiction[s], there are
Social media can become very addictive to some and it may cause negative effects on that person’s life. Everyday use of social media can make a person want to get on, to needing to get on the computer. Becoming hooked can affect a person in many ways. Such as, their job, family,
Some 35 percent said spending time of social media led them to want to change something about their lives, and 24 percent felt as if they are missing out on something. Another 21 percent admitted to feeling lonely, while 17 percent reported feeling jealous of something about other people or their lives after using social media.
One of the negative effect of social media or network is it leads to addiction. Spending countless hours on the social sites can divert the focus and attention from a particular task. It lowers the motivational level of the people, especially of the teenagers and students. They mainly rely on technology and the internet instead of learning the practical knowledge and expertise of the everyday life.
Social media has nothing but negative effects on people’s minds. Social networking can become very addicting and people can get wrapped up in the drama and excitement of the cyber world. It would only improve our society today if social media never existed to our knowledge. Our society today feels so connected with social media that it interferes with our lives making every task even harder with the temptations.
Bhardwaj 1 Think of a time when people didn’t have technology and how they had to interact, whether it had been from writing letters to using telegraphs, communicating with people was hard to come by back then. Of course, times have changed and now technology has made it easier over the years, social media has become an essential part of our lives whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and many other websites. Nowadays, everybody is using it whether its companies using media to promote their products or even teachers tweeting out what last night’s homework was. Social media is a great tool that helps us connect with the world and communicate our ideas. Yet there are some people who believe that social media has a negative impact towards our society as they believe that people can get addicted to it, it causes them to get easily distracted, and many other dangers.
There are some downsides to being constantly connected to everybody through social media. The biggest down side is not communicating to loved ones and family through real life interaction, but instead through social media. That is a serious problem to some people, especially those who use technology and are familiar to technology. Because they might not feel the urge to make human interaction, they are just attracted more to technology.
