Social interaction happens when two or more individuals communicate verbally or non-verbally with the goal of conveying their insights and experience. Unlike other living species, human beings are innately social. It is through interactions that individuals learn how to survive, how to adapt to their environment and how to become a functioning member of society. Without the skill to socialize effectively, a person can be left with the inability to adjust to the changing world, depression, low self-esteem and health problems. The good news is that social skill is inherent to every person—the difference lies on how people convey it effectively. As an introvert, going into battle without proper preparation can cause you to get overwhelmed, lose focus and consequently make yourself look like a bumbling weirdo. This is probably the main reason why you prefer to steer away from social interactions. To easily prevent this, you need to make sure that you have prepared yourself mentally and physically. The strategies in this chapter are centered on to oneself and should be done in private. How you present yourself will determine how people will treat you. A person in clean, wrinkle-free clothing is generally perceived as approachable and a potential companion. Compare this person to someone who has a messy face and wears stained clothes. Usually, people will think twice about striking a conversation with him. Covering this small detail will serve you well so you can focus on more pressing things. Remember, you don’t have to be wearing the latest fashion or look like a model to be presentable. You just need to be overall clean. Tips: • Lay out your clothes before you go to sleep. This will give you plenty of time to think about your ensemble without risking being late the next day. • Check the whole ensemble once you have them on just in case there’s a stain or an undone thread you missed. • Don’t forget to check your shoes and tie
