A Société means company in French and “Société BIC, the French consumer products company, makes the ubiquitous lighters, pens, and shavers” (Hoovers). The founder of BIC was Baron Marcel Bich, and has begun his company in 1953 with his partner Edouard Buffard, they didn't truly invent the pen, Hungarian Ladislao Bir was the creator of the parts, so Bich had purchased it off Bir (Los Angeles Times). Edouard Buffard was the... “executive Vice President and Director of Société BIC” (BIC Group). In Italy a “Baron” was dominant and was powerful in the middle ages. Marcel Bich used to work in an ink company and had quit to begin his own business, he was actually the product manager of this company. He began simple, like selling just parts of a pen around 1945, in Paris. Ballpoint pens began selling in the United States for $12.50 in each department store (BIC Corporation). BIC was named after the founder Marcel Bich, but only using his last name. BIC was an expensive company that was worth millions (Silverstein). All of BIC products are disposable and they still manage to acquire so much sales. Then on all his inventions of the ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils, to only name a few, had the brand name BIC.
Marcel Bich's first invention in the 1950's was the ballpoint pen. In the Gale article named “BIC Corporation,” it quotes “...he introduced his own line of ballpoint pens. Called BICs- using the phonetic spelling of Bich's name... These BIC pens had a clear, and see-through exterior, and it allowed people to see how much ink they still had left in their ink container, which was placed in the inside of the clear exterior holder, but BIC didn't stop there.

In 105 CE a man named Cai Lun during the Eastern Han Dynasty invented the paper from worn fishnet, bark and cloth. These materials were used because they could be easily found at a low price compared to Hemp fiber and silk. Hemp fiber and silk were used at first but then the Chinese realized there are greater uses for this material. Therefore they started to use the worn fishnet, bark and
The curveball was invented over 100 years ago by William Arthur Cummings (Fleitz, D). His older brother and teammates called him Candy Cummings (Fleitz, D). Cummings started to develop the curveball in 1861 and 1862 without much progress. After many years Cummings finally invented the curveball in 1867 (Fleitz, D). This invention made him one of the most dominant pitchers of the time. Cummings quit baseball at the age of twenty-eight (Fleitz, D). Other players started to develope their own curveball by the 1874 season (Fleitz, D). Batters started to learn to hit the curveball by the 1877 season (Fleitz, D).
Born of the idea to preserve authentic Italian cuisine, Academia Barilla has faced strategic issues to increase profitability and growth. Deutsche Brauerei has been a family owned and operated corporation for 12 generations, which has created a high level of focus and control. Each generation has kept the management and operations processes relatively simple, centered on brewing practices and quality. Deutsche Brauerei’s rapid growth in recent years can be attributed to several factors. First and foremost, the company’s success is centered on the product itself, which has won numerous quality awards and is quite popular in Germany. Another contributing factor to the recent growth may have been a bit inadvertent. The purchase of new equipment in 1994, which was necessary as a result of a fire that destroyed the old equipment, allowed the company to increase brewing capacity and efficiency. Finally, Deutsche Brauerei’s decision to enter the Ukranian market in 1998 contributed significantly to the rapid growth. The collapse of the U.S.S.R. brought market reforms, and Deutsche Brauerei jumped on the opportunity to enter the fragmented beer industry, capture the large population and capitalize on the prime location in Europe. Lukas Schweitzer was savvy enough to hire local expert Oleg Pinchuk away from a competitor as the marketing manager, and Oleg was instrumental in building the business in Ukraine by securing accounts and implementing the field warehousing to support distributors. Deutsche’s beer was hugely popular in the Ukraine almost immediately, and volume sales more than offset the depreciation of the Ukrainian currency. Sales in Ukraine accounted for 28% of Deutsche’s total sales, and skyrocketed from 4,262 euros in 1998 to 25,847 euros in 2001.
Controlling chemiluminescent light was how Omniglow Incorporated became the first company to produce light sticks. In 1986, when the first light stick was invented, scientists thought they could make a lot of money selling light sticks. However, since they had to make light sticks by hand, it was harder for them to produce very many of them. Until machines were invented to make light sticks, it cost too much money to make them by hand.
He invented gadgets as simple as the log arm, which was simply a wooden pole with a type of “hand” at the end to grasp books on high shelves, to the odometer, which measured the revolutions of the wheel on his carriage so he could calculate the distance between places. He also developed the Franklin Stove, which radiated more heat than traditional fireplaces while using less fuel, producing less smoke, and radiating heat long after the fire went out thanks to its metal-lined walls. He made the first flexible urinary catheter for his brother, who suffered from kidney stones and the first bifocals. He made the bifocal by “spitting” the lens frame into two half-circle shapes. Then he would install lenses for reading on the bottom half and lenses for seeing things that were far away on the top
I was very excited when I heard that I had been invited into National Junior Honors Society. The first time I heard of NJHS, it instantly became a goal of mine. When my older sister left for college I was very sad, so I think that this is a way for me to keep a part of her. I have always been that little girl no one understood, because I’m always very excited to learn and get back to school after summer break. I’m very happy to see that I’ve been invited, but this is why I should be accepted.

He also made the bifocals, and the swim fin. The swim fin that we utilize today are for the feet not the hands, but despite everything he concocted the thought for them. The bifocals that he developed are frequently utilized all over the place. His observations of electrical phenomena convinced him that a sharp point would serve the purpose best.” Power is something that is utilized practically every waking hour, we utilize it wherever we go, from the store to sitting in front of the TV. It was an awesome thing that he examined more about, his investigations were extremely useful to us. Franklin invented bifocal eyeglasses by cutting the lenses of two pairs of spectacles. Franklin made an invention that would help him to be able to continue his favorite hobby, reading, and to see long distance. For Ben Franklin, he needed double-spectacles. He also invented the franklin stove. It was invented in 1742, it was a metal-lined fireplace that stands in the middle of a room. It improved the airflow in the house. It gave more heat and less smoke than an open fireplace that uses wood. The stove would normally be the middle of the room in all directions, and the iron walls even absorbed heat, providing warmth to the room long after the fire went out. Separated bifocals, Franklin developed the melodic instrument glass harmonica; adaptable urinary catheter; his own rendition of the odometer. Also,
“The first patent for a bent wire paper clip was awarded in the United States to Samuel B. Fay, in 1867. The clip was intended to just attach tickets to fabric, but soon discovered that it can attach papers together.” “The most modern paperclip was invented and patented by William D. Middlebrook in 1899. William didn’t just invent the paperclip, he also invented the machine that makes them.” Mr. Middlebrook’s patent was bought by a manufacturing company,
As Benjamin Franklin grew older, his vision worsened. He became both far-sighted and near-sighted and the constant switching of his glasses frustrated him so much that he decided to solve this problem. He invented a pair of glasses that incorporated both lenses into one frame called bifocals. “Bifocals are a type of prescription eyeglasses designed for people who need both near and farsighted vision correction. Benjamin Franklin developed the first pair of bifocals in August 1784” (Beam "What Are Bifocals?"). With these two-lense bifocals one could look through the upper half to see far away and the lower half for seeing closer things. Many historians question who invented the bifocals although, due to letters written by Benjamin Franklin to his friend George Whatley, it is a known fact that Franklin was indeed the true inventor of the bifocals (The Electric Franklin "Benjamin Franklin's Inventions").
Both Niécpe’s and Daguerre’s cameras took pictures on metal plates. In the same year Daguerre made his camera, an Englishman by the name of William Henry Fox Talbot made the first camera that photographed pictures on paper. The camera printed a reverse picture onto a negative and chemicals were needed to produce the photo up right. In 1861, color film came along and pictures were produced with color instead of being just black and white. James Clerk Maxwell is credited with coming up with color film, after he took the same picture three times, using a different color ribbon....
An Assessment Center can be defined as "a variety of testing techniques designed to allow candidates to demonstrate, under standardized conditions, the skills and abilities that are most essential for success in a given job" (Coleman, 1987), it consists of a standardized evaluation of behavior based on multiple evaluations including oral exercises, counseling simulations, problem analysis exercises, interview simulations, role play exercises, written report/analysis exercises, and leaderless group exercises. These centers allow the candidates to make proofs of their knowledge through a number of job and special situations (Joiner, 1984).
First was the invention of movable type and the printing press. Johannes Gutenberg and Johann Fust, German goldsmith, invented movable type in 1446. Then, Gutenberg invented the printing press to produce the world’s first printed book, the Bible.
