The SMART goal I set for myself was to eat healthier by the end of the semester. In the early part of this semester, I was successful. I gathered information on foods that would be good for me to eat and snack on throughout the day and I had my grocery list written before I went into the store to not get sidetracked. However, as the semester progressed my eating habits lacked and no longer went to get groceries and often forgot to eat if I did not set a reminder or my grandmother brought food. I was not successful in meeting my SMART goal. One of the barriers I believe that kept me from reading my goal was my constant anxiety over school and life in general. I found myself often worrying over those things and not really feeding myself until
I have known from a young age that I wanted to help people, and since then I have searched for the opportunity and knowledge to be able to do just that. On that note, seeing the joy on my uncle’s face, after losing both of his legs and having to learn to walk again with prosthesis’s was so uplifting for me, to witness him so happy even though I wasn’t involved with his healing process. Consequently, I could only imagine how good it would feel to know that I helped him regain his independence and return a smile to his face. That was when I realized that I wanted to give back to people that are in need of assistance. These individuals may not be able to do anything about the position they are in, Hence when I become an Occupational therapist; I will
The final aspect of setting SMART goals is that they must be time bound. Simply, it is necessary to have a deadline for which the goal must be completed. If the deadline is a long way off, set hallmarks along the way. This will contribute to measuring your success and help you to keep moving toward the ultimate goal (KPW, 2010). For example, I only have financial aid for a specific amount of time which means that I must take the time that is needed to pursue my degree because my course has a specific target date as to when everything should be complete.

Many issues and problems emerge in organizations that require action by leadership in order to maximize productivity. Because numerous decisions are made on any given day in an attempt for a school or organization to operate as smoothly as possible, constant effort and energy is required to monitor an organization’s culture. A problematic situation in my current organization that is rooted in employee motivation and attitudes is the lack of satisfaction communicated by group members. A year ago, the organization participated in a culture assessment that was conducted by the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA). This audit was ordered by our executive director because of the displeasure and dissatisfaction employees were communicating and displaying while at work. The
While monitoring my smart goal throughout each day I began to notice that I had a difficult time staying organized and managing my anxiety. Each day that went by I recorded daily and important activities for myself as a reminder to complete it and to keep myself on track. The days began to pass by and the emotions that I felt became very overwhelming to me because I felt my smart goal was taking a big toll on me. “Emotions are feelings that involve physical responses due to changes in thoughts, actions and personal evaluation” (Norton). Soon I noticed my grades in my other classes began to drop due to me not being as organized as I should. I began to have a hard time keeping up with my homework and study guides.
