Toronto Sky diving is usually something a person always wanted to do. Especially the idea of trying new things. That’s what I did over the summer, did something new. Leaving a country can be scary especially for the first time. Before we start, the car ride to Canada was a days' worth. Couple of days before we left my aunt didn’t know who else would come with but at the end of the day she chose my siblings her friend and me. Growing up I'm sure everyone has heard of the saying "The older you get the wiser you'll be". After the trip I don't have much faith in that anymore. Since the trip was about a day's worth my aunt and her friend Safiyo decided they'll swap the driver's seat every few hours. The problem wasn’t her, the problem would her inability or lack of her sixth sense. When Safiyo ran out of gas she decided to go to the only gas station that didn’t have any lighting out nor cars and it was during the Clown season so of course there were clowns chasing us. All because of her inability to sense danger. After, that traumatic incident hours have passed, when we made it passed the boarders and now off to my mysterious aunt. By the time we knocked on her door she looked us up and down with the most dirties look a dragon her …show more content…
The whole day was dedicated on traveling the subway. So, when we got on, we consciously agreed not to sit near Each other. The whole trip so far was amazing. The only down part of it all would be the drunk lady on the subway using her phone as a shoe and her shoe as a phone. After getting off, and purposely getting lost we made it downtown. We started walking as much as we could, then aunt sat leaving her behind we kept going. Somewhere down the road my brother tripped on his on two feet and blaming the sidewalk which was flat without any cracks. The day couldn’t have gone any better than dogs chasing us. We got back on the subway, limping, exhausted, looking like we lost some
When I was little everyone told me I would make a great lawyer, they said I loved to argue. For a long time I believed them, I do love to argue. However, the older I got the more I realized that it wasn’t the arguing I loved, it was the dialog. How two people can have the exact same experience, but have two totally different views about that experience baffled me. When I was in high school I struggled with some things that I didn’t quite understand at the time. I didn’t understand why my teammates would listen to my male co-captain instead of me even when we said the exact same thing. I didn’t understand why my teammates would skip practice or do something that might get them kicked off of the team. We all loved water polo and had a great
The sport of mountain biking is one of the best active sports you can do for a number of fitness reasons and depending on what style of mountain biking you partake in, it can be also a great deal of fun as well as keeping you fit at the same time. People are usually unaware of how may muscles you use when riding a mountain bike, and how quickly you can burn calories off riding a bike as it can be an extremely good work out for the body. If you plan on riding cross-country along different styles of trails, riding a bike can be quite a task. So if you riding over a vast distance up and down hills, along slippery single trail it can be very exhausting on the legs and the lower back.
It was the day of April 13, 2000. I woke up at exactly 12 o’clock because my boyfriend was to pick me up at 1 like we planned the night before. The day looked quite nice, but I was in a fowl mood. I got into a car accident the night before and had a huge argument with my parents about the car. I finally dragged myself into the shower and got ready in half an hour. Then I went downstairs, sat on my couch, and repeatedly told myself the day would hopefully turn out better than last night. At around 1:15, my boyfriend came to pick me up. We took the 5 freeway to the 57 since it was the only way I knew how to get there. As we approached the 134 freeway, my girlfriend veered to the right, taking the 210 which was wrong way and got us lost. So, we exited the freeway and got back on the right track. Then finally, before long, we reached Norton Simon.
Imagine being on the top of the world, on a bitter cold mountain, over top of an enormous crowd. Below where you stand, the lustrous lights are shining on a massive jump, that seems larger than the mountain itself, created for the professional snowboard competition. This gargantuan jump will decide whether you win or lose the competition. Becoming a professional snowboarder has been a dream to me ever since I first was beginning to snowboard. Being on top of the enormous slope and strapping into my bindings instantly made me relaxed and put a grin larger than the slope itself on my face. Everytime I glide down the face of the mountain I become focused and dialed in on my riding. When becoming a professional snowboarder as an occupation, I would
If you’ve read The Brave Ski Mom for any duration of time, you’ve probably observed that our whole family wears helmets: ski helmets, bike helmets, hockey helmets, lacrosse helmets and helmets while skateboarding. If we climbed, we’d wear helmets then, too. We LOVE helmets.
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
I am adventurous. No I don't sky dive, wrestle crocodiles, or swim with sharks, but when asked by a group of friends to go cliff diving last summer, my best response was, “Sounds like fun!” I had never been afraid of heights yet have never experienced the thrill of cliff diving. All I could ask myself was, “What could go wrong?”
Nothing feels better than being able to have your own car to take you to places, instead of always depending on someone to take you around in theirs. But when it comes to driving a long distance, my mom gets frightened . I remember I was in my room with my ear to the door trying to decipher what my mom and her boyfriend were discussing about in the living room. There were murmurs, something about “don’t go to work”, “take us”, and “few days.” Then a deep voice came into distance “no”, “no”, “I can’t” then I heard heavy footsteps and a door slam hard. I figured out that meant her boyfriend wasn’t going to take us to Tennessee. I contemplated a bit and finally, it came to mind that the woman who lives two houses down always knows somebody, who knows somebody, that can help with
Let’s face it, in the modern age, everybody is so busy with technology and daily activities that physical fitness can become difficult to maintain and dieting can be a daily uphill battle with little to no success. So we turn to hiring a personal trainer to help guide us on the path to physical fitness. But do we really need one? We think so, here are five reasons why.
Have you noticed advertisements to register in a local swim club or a competitive team? Have you been thinking about joining, but you don’t know anything about the swim community? In this article, you will learn the basic strokes, turns, pros, and cons of swimming.
This old/new bus continued our route, and we all sat quietly, awaiting our stops. Everyone had a tired, almost forlorn look, as though they had been through much more than just switching buses. I did not have any concept of time as the bus chugged along, stopping occasionally to let people off, and all of a sudden I recognized that it was almost to my stop. I jerked out of the stupor I was in as the bus stopped in front of my apartment complex. As I gathered up my things to leave, I looked at my friends and said, "Well, this will make one interesting story at school tomorrow!"
I entered her bedroom, where she was last sighted. A peevish odour was rising from the bed. Mist started rising, the room was surrounded with gases and it was all I remembered of the past.
I was dying. Did I mention that I actually cried? It didn’t help, it actually made it worse. To do this day I am in awe of how I held it for so long. Suddenly the bus driver leaves the high way. At that moment my heart starts pumping full of excitement. My bladder was literally about to explode. We reach the front gate to enter the school. And guess what? The front gate was locked. Therefore my band director didn’t have a key to the front gate. He only had a key to the back. Thus making us all go around to the other side of the world to get inside. At this point I just had given up on life. I remember saying to myself, “I’m going to die having to pee.” We finally reach the other side of the gate. My band director opens the gate. So we wait for him to slowly walk up to the bus. We wait for the bus driver to slowly close the door. Also we wait for him to slowly start the bus
Early weather reports promise Vancouverites an above average and perhaps epic snow year. Furthermore, Accuweather predicts the potential for a couple of Arctic intrusions, “which may set the stage for a few snow events near the coast.” While many will cringe at the thought of a “snow event,” those of us who adore winter, glance up at the North Shore Mountains with joy in our hearts. Yes, if you live for snow, this may be your year to try snowshoeing, and the trails will be opening soon!
“Man, I shouldn’t be here” (McClearn 165). Looking down at the earth from 1,200 meters up, through an open airplane’s door, anyone will probably feel the same way. The thrill and the risk of jumping out of a plane sends shivers down some person’s backs, however there are also those who it makes want to live even more. “Some are drawn to the sphincter-wrenching terror of free fall” (McClearn 165). The excitement of jumping out of plane may be enjoyable for the person, but not for the wallet. For the first year of sky diving, a person can expect to pay up to $7000; however the price does decrease as more equipment and experienced is accumulated. The price, although expensive, is worth it, “And the feeling of cheating death is simply pric...
