Constellation is a specific group of formed stars that are creating a pattern that is recognized as a shape that a is named from the form figure in the sky. Constellations are all over the universe, new ones are created every day as the universe is expanding more and more every day. The constellations that we see every day is only a few of the stars that scientist have discovered, so far there are more constellation farther out in the universe but with our technology today we are not able to see them yet. But with time we will be able to create better technology to help us be able to reach all of the other stars. There was not a certain person known for inventing constellations. There was a poem written by a poet named Aratus who …show more content…
Astronomers use the celestial sphere to locate the constellations in the sky. The celestial sphere is an imaginary circle around Earth, that helps us be able to see stars. Every star has its place on the celestial sphere, the locations that it is in is seen farther than the actual location of the stars. The stargazers are able to see stars and locate them using the celestial sphere. The celestial Globe helps you be able to locate the objects in the sky. So astronomers just use the sky maps, to locate the constellations in the sky. With the celestial spheres, you can find any of the constellations in the sky that are in our range. Most stargazers think that they would not be able to tell the stars apart from each, but that is not true. Once you start to stargaze than you will be able to tell the difference between each star. You would be able to tell the difference between all of the 88 constellations that are officially recognized by the International Astronomical Union. All 88 constellations have their own Latin names and the names of the popular unofficial stars patterns are known. Different religion has a different name for the constellations in the zodiac. But scientist today uses the historical name for the

In document C, Ptolemy had a theory where the Earth was the center of the Solar System. Other scientists also had this theory when they were examining the stars and Earth's rotation. But other scientists figured out that the Sun was the center of the Solar System instead of Earth. Document D shows the zodiacs and how the stars lining up. These documents show how advance the people in the Renaissance were. Ptolemy and Copernicus were very advanced as well when they had their theories on the Solar System. Also when they would use the stars and constellations for the zodiac symbolizations (Doc
I was born with an inherent fascination for all things celestial. Ever since I was young, I have been staring at the night sky trying to find constellations, or using my juvenile imagination to create my own. My efforts to find, view, and mentally catalogue everything the heavenly bodies have to offer has led me to employ some over-the-top measures, but the most extreme of them all might be the night I stayed awake through the wee hours of the morning to catch a glimpse of a meteor shower. Over the course of an entire year, the memory of this stupefying event is still as lucent and vivid as it was that very night so long ago.
The movie “October Sky” is basically about a high school student Homer Hickam and three of his friends inventing a rocket which can actually fly for a long distance. Homer and his friends named each other the rocket boy. Homer Hickam talks about how the rocket boys got inspired, what problems they faced and how they were able to prove themselves innocent.
Perseus, the twenty-forth largest constellation, is depicted as a man holding a sword in one hand and the head of Medusa in the other. Ptolemy discovered the constellation during the second century. Measuring 28 degrees in length, it lies in the Northern Hemisphere and can be seen best in December around nine o’clock P.M. It can also be seen in the Southern Hemisphere during the summer from latitudes north of negative thirty-five degrees. After the era and death of Sam and Dean Winchester, a strange yet remarkable constellation appeared in the sky. Astronomers and many people believe that stars are formed by clouds of gas that begin condense due to gravity and evolve into stars. But others believe that when an angel dies, his soul ascends to heaven but his grace (angel mojo) is propelled into the sky forming a star, the more loyal and powerful the angel, the brighter the star. These people had tons of theories about said constellation but the most popular and understood presumption is as follows:
The constellation I have chosen for this essay is Scorpius because I am a Scorpius so I have a connection with this particular constellation. The constellation Scorpius itself lies between the constellations Libra and Sagittarius in the southern hemisphere near the center of the Milky Way. This constellation symbolizes a scorpion and has 18 main stars, the brightest of which is the star Antares. I have chosen this constellation because Scorpius is my zodiac and I have looked upon the Scorpius constellation and I have found it to be quite stunning.
Ptolemy also based on ancient astronomy significantly which the Earth sphericty recognized to him. The sphericty of the earth contain Saint Bede the Venerable in his account of the time, and wrote about 723 AD and this belief was reflected by the Christian writers.
October Sky tells about an uneducated town, a contentious population, and a boy who dreams of achieving aeronautical flight. The plot follows Sonny and his path of scientific accomplishment. Most of his peers and leaders are opposed to the idea of having a scientist amongst them, simply because it is unheard of. Against all odds, Sonny and his BCMA push on and attain victory. The recurring theme of this novel is that success does not come with ease. Sonny’s rocket-building journey was not effortless, but it would have been worse for him if it was.
My favorite constellation is Pegasus. Pegasus is a winged horse, and I love horses. Back in the Muggle world, I rode horses in competition, and I was watching at Hogwarts during the Goblet of Fire celebration in which the girls' academy was brought in a carriage pulled by several Pegasi. Pegasi are very influential in popular Muggle culture, in television shows such as "My Little Pony" which features Pegasi, unicorns, and normal horses. Winged horses are beautiful and pristine creatures, the ultimate show of perfection.
I know that astronomy is getting more popular by the day since the comet came and all those people got killed. But that really did not have anything to do with astronomy, so I am not going to get into that. To me astronomy is really cool. If you have a telescope and it is a clear night you can see different constellations such as: Andromeda, Cassiopeia, Hercules, Pegasus, Perseus there are many more that is so cool. But it is even cooler to look up and see them in the sky. To do all of that you first have to be in the correct place. What you can do first is look for the north star, when you find that then you are all set. If you cannot find it just simply face north and look for the brightest star in that direction. If you still cannot find it buy a compass then hopefully you will find it. If you still cannot find it ask somebody, I made no grantee that you would find it these ways. That is really all I know about astronomy, but after this paper I bet you I will know a whole lot more.
Astronomy is a very important field in science. Ancient Greece, China, and India all contributed to our everyday ideas and uses of astronomy. Ancient Greece was the most influential because the Indian’s based most of their astronomy off of Greece. The Greeks created calendars that were based off of the eclipse cycle, which they called by two different names, Hellenic Calendars and Lunisolar Calendars. Because of Ancient Greece, we now have calendars to keep us on track every day. The Greeks observed a celestial object passing through the eastern and western morning sky. After a long time of observations, they came to a realization that it was a planet and now that is the planet is well known as Venus. (Sarton, 75) Plato and Aristotle’s theories were incredible contributions on us today. Both of their theories were all about the behavior and life of the planets, such as their theory that the earth is spherical. (Sarton, 421). Ancient Greece als...
Vincent Van Gogh’s piece titled Starry Night, represents the artist’s insanity and isolation from the outside world. Van Gogh painted the view that was seen from the room, mixed with the emotions he felt inside. Starry Night is an oil painting on canvas and is two dimensional. The painting is found in the Museum of Modern Art located in New York. The variety of elements and principles of art, help to bring the painting to life, and help viewers understand what the art could represent.
Astronomy dates back to ancient times when peoples such as the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Chinese kept written records of astronomical events and occurrences. Today’s seven day week originates from the Babylonians’ seven important bodies in the night sky: the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn. The ancient Egyptians used the stars to align their pyramids and many of their corridors in almost perfect north-south or east-west directions. The Chinese were experts at predicting solar eclipses. They believed that a solar eclipse was a dangerous warning. Chinese astronomers were executed if they failed to predict an eclipse.
However, this is where the questions start to enter. How were the ancient Egyptians able to know the exact area or position of these stars in order to align each of the three pyramids to them?
