There are multiply signs that is associated with being a bad student. You have the student that skip class, playing on your phone during class time, turning in last assignment or no assignment at all, and talking back to the teacher.
Student who skip class typically have bad grade. I remember when I use to skip class and just go chill. I would just skip class for the fun of it. I would skip class just to fit in with the crowd. But I soon realize that my grades was suffering from me missing class. I try to go to class the next day and just pick up where I left off but that didn’t work to good because they had already learned something new and move on. It was too much for me to try to learn something new and then try to complete the assignments that I already had. At one point I realize it is impossible for me to catch up with the rest of the class. So I just decided just to give up on trying to do the assignments. After a well I completely stop doing all my work. I felt like it was hopeless for me to catch back up.
Then I decided to show up to class and not do no work. All I did when I went to class was played on my phone. Playing on my phone mean that I don’t hear any of the lesson that she was teaching. So days I would just show up for class for attended and just leave because there was no point of being there if I wasn’t learning nothing. Someday I would get catch skipping class and would have to serve ISS. It got to the point where I was in and out of ISS on a regular day basis. The vice principle knew me by name for always being in his office.
After all of that you would think that I would act better but I just got worst. I would go to class and talk back to my teacher. I felt that if she didn’t care about my education then why I should care about other people education. I was spiraling down a path, where I thought there was no return. I even thought about dropping out of school because it was a waste of my time. I felt like that was time I could be finding a job making money instead of sitting on butt playing one my phone and not learning nothing that is going to better

My mom would call me and check up on me, I would lie of course and tell her that I was doing well all while everything was crashing down on me. I lost all hope, I completely stopped caring. Students understand the consequences of low grade averages, so they constantly evaluate grades by keeping up with their averages. Low grades cause academic probation. During the probationary period students are encouraged to focus on applying themselves to bring grade averages up to standards. While focusing on averages, students are able to change their study habits or learning styles for instance; some students learn by hands-on-training and others by reading comprehension. The grade scale can determine if a student needs further instructions or tutoring. One the other hand, students study habits play an important role in their grades. If a student makes the wrong decisions about studying and preparing for class their grades will suffer drastically. Study habits need to be evaluated and processed for tips to succeed.
Number one rule in the book is “go to class always.” Many students used to go to school because their parents force them to. However, in college, students have the choice to attend the class or not. Some courses don’t have attending policy, so they won’t count students who where absent. This makes student feel more freely to whether attend class or not. Students usually skip classes because they pretend that they are tired or they want to go to a shopping mall. It is very easy to skip a class and give excuses, such as I was in the hospital, I made an accident, or I need to study for a final exam. After skipping a class, students go and take notes from other students who attended and class and copy them. However, this will affect them in their exams because they won’t get high grade as students who attend classes.
6th grade came and my friends and I were split up, and some of my friends were in the same hall as me. I was put into what the students called “the dumb hallway”, some people weren’t as smart as the other kids in a different hallway but, let’s get back on track. When looking at attending class from the perspective of a college student it should hopefully be easy to understand why you should attend. I alternated my focus from completing my assignments to meeting new acquaintances were what really killed me in the long run. I began to pick up poor habits of talking into class, and transferring my attention from the teacher and to my electronic device. I have learned throughout my years in high school that someone will always have an excuse for why something is going badly for them whether or not the excuse is valid. I have tried to do away with these excuses in order to make myself a better person and a better student. To start with I made up many excuses for why I had bad grades in my classes in 9th and even some of my 10th grade classes but, these excuses hold know validity and in the end even if they did it wouldn't make a difference. My grades could have definitely been better if I had put in more work but I feel that as of the end of my 10th grade and the beginning of my 11th grade year I have changed drastically as a student and a person. I was sometimes slower at completing a written paper or an assignment. In open discussions about material we had just read, things weren’t sticking with me after reading to feel confident to raise my hand and be active with discussions. I would have to search for answers in my memory for some time. Sometimes answers just weren’t retrieved at all. I became frustrated in school often, and eventually developed a negative attitude toward school. I struggled a lot with this because I knew I could do better. Every day I prepared myself for failure because I lacked the tools and strategies that I needed to succeed in school. Granted, I got by, but I could have been a much better student. I earned low B’s and C’s, but should have been A’s.

While college classrooms may contain up to three hundred students, making it impossible for a teacher to know every single student in that class. Furthermore, in high school the student may have a more personal relationship with the teacher rather than in college, because high school students see their teachers five days a week as compared to college where it might only be twice a week. Also teachers in college don’t care whether the student pass or fail the class. Whether the student pass the class or not is the sole responsibility of the student. Both tardiness and absenteeism can be influenced by a lack of support from the community, family support, transportation problems, poor health, etc. (Teasley, 2004). Other possible reasons that may influence students to be absent are those that come from the school environment. Lacking support from teachers, feeling unsafe because of bullying or other factors, difficulty with content, etc., are some examples. Becoming a good student for most is not an easy task. One may be asking if there is a definite way to distinguish a good student and the answer is it 's merely impossible to say a student is considered “good” based on only one factor. Many people define good students as kids who have the best grade in the class. Since most of the time this is true, grades can only be looked at as a single way of how we define the term “good”. We must remember that even poor students can earn high grades occasionally, thus proving why grades are not the best indicator of a student’s quality.
