The Integumentary System is the organ system that act as the protector. It shields the body from many types of harmful things and damages, such as viruses, bacteria, and pollutions. One way of harmful things to enter the body is if the skin was somehow opened by getting cut or torn. Within the
Integumentary System there is the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the humans body. It covers more than three thousand square inches of the body and weighs over six pounds. I believe the skin is the most important of the
Integumentary System, because it’s the outer most organ that acts as the first defense in protection. Thanks to the skin it also protects our body from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, produced by a protective pigmentation called, melanin.
Believe it or not the skin and milk have something very in common. They both produce Vitamin D that’s also very important pertaining to the body. In order for the skin to be as strong and important its needs assistants from the accessory structures of the Integumentary System. Those accessories structures are the nails, hair, sudoriferous glands, which is the sweat glands, and the sebaceous glands, also known as the oil glands. Not only does the
Integumentarty System serve as protection for the body, but it also serve as regulation, absorption, secretion, and sensation for the body.
How does the skin regulates? Well the skin regulates the body temperature.
The temperature of the body can be warm, hot, or cold. When the temperature varies from either high to low the blood vessels in the skin is dilating. There are many skin disorders, such as skin cancer, acne, cellulitis, alopecia, contact dermatitis, calluses, corns, decubitus ulcers, eczema, fruncles, carbuncles, folliculitis, herpes simplex, herpes zoster, impetigo, hirsutism, keloids, pediculosis, rosacea, psoriasis, scabies, tinea, urticaria, vitiligo, warts, and seborrheic dermatitis. All these disorders effect many people in the world every day and are treatable if not cured. Some treatments for skin disorders are botox, chemical peel, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and dermabrasion.
All listed treatments can help reverse the signs of getting old , sun damage, and
