Recommended: Achieving a goal
This year we all have goals but I want to accomplish many things in six months. My major goals for the following months are the following things: learn ASL, get my driving permit, start studying for test and quizzes, figure out my major, study for math class, and get a job. These six things I can accomplish by trying hard as well as start as soon as possible. I don't know what is going to happen in my life or where i'll be in six months, but I know I can control some things of what I will have accomplished by june.
The first goal I want to accomplish this year is learning the basics of American sign language. In order to complete this specific task, I can start by studying and learning from an online web site that is available. I can make a schedule of what time and days to do this. I can review the material and keep it fresh on my mind by talking with my deaf cousin. Another way is to get a touter or my cousin to teach me. I can dedicate my free time to learning sign language.
My second goal to complete in six months is to get my drivers permit. For this specific goal all I h...
Although a handful of individuals were born knowing what they want to do in life, the vast majority spends a considerable segment of their life searching for that one perfect career they’re passionate about. Luckily, I am part of the latter group, and thus dedicated most of my adolescence and adulthood experimenting, engaging, and attempting different avenues toward discovering my labor of love. Indeed, every course I participated in provided me with a distinct skill-set or talent, while my journey helped shape me into a more consummate and multi-dimensional individual. However, the first avenue I explored was American Sign Language Interpreting, an expressive visual language that forced me to think innovatively and shape a multicultural perspective. Although the language as a whole fascinates...
“Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things” (American). For centuries, people from all walks of life have been using their hands to communicate with one another, and for centuries people from all walks of life have been learning. Today I am following in their footsteps with a passion from God for the deaf language, culture, and souls. For almost a decade, an intense ardor for American Sign Language and a desire to reach its native users for Christ seeded itself in my soul, wove its roots deeper and deeper, and blossomed into one of the greatest loves of my life. American Sign Language is a unique language with a rich history that not only provides a service to people in the deaf culture, but also to hearing people who seek to attain fluency.
My short-term goals will be completed throughout High School. I am taking a lot of Mathematical classes in High School, this year I am taking Statistics and Business Math. Next year I will either take Calculus or Precalculus. I like taking math courses because there is a lot of math in anyone's life time. Also my career choices require a lot of math, most classes they like to see I have already taken. I plan to get high grades in all of my classes so Colleges will take me seriously. One of my favorite classes is Statistics and I have a decent grade in it too. My activities at school include being in the Woodshop Club. It is very enjoyable for me and I hope to do more in woodworking as I grow older as a hobby. Activities outside of school include mainly Boy Scouts and work. I plan to get my Eagle Scout rank and I might go on to get Eagle Palms. I work as a Concrete laborer and I also do some finishing, it is a very
...imination that goes on is to start raising awareness of the deaf community. There are some very easy things that you can do to learn about the deaf culture. One very easy way is to attend a deaf awareness event. Many amusement parks such as Paramount Kings Dominion in Virginia and Six Flags hold deaf awareness days. There are also many baseball teams that hold deaf awareness nights at the ballpark. Many schools, programs, and organizations for the deaf also hold annual deaf awareness events or festivals. These are some very easy ways to learn about the deaf culture and have fun at the same time. Another way is to join or volunteer to an organization. There are many deaf groups and organizations that are in need of volunteers to get involved and help with the deaf community. As I said before, we are lacking interpreters and people to interact with the Deaf and we can start to improve that area by having more people get involved and learn about the deaf community.
In the U.S. the fourth most common language is American Sign Language. American Sign Language or ASL is a way of communication for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. As common as this language is, many people know nothing about it so i decided to open myself to this challenge. I decided to dedicate myself to this topic and learn as much information on this language. I wanted to open myself up to a whole new community just like i had in learning Spanish and French. I wanted to take the next few months and learn as much as possible about something that i honestly knew nothing about. So what is American Sign Language? How much can i learn in 3 months?
The form of communication they choose will affect the child for the rest of their life. One form of communication available to children who are deaf is American Sign Language. “Though many different sign languages exist, American Sign Language is considered the most widely used manual language in the United States” (Hardin, Blanchard, Kemmery, Appenzeller, & Parker, 2014) with approximately 250,000-500,000 users. However, it is difficult to place an exact number of American Sign Language users because of “methodological challenges related to how American Sign Language users are determined” (Mitchell, Young, Bachleda, & Karchmer, 2006). American Sign Language is a complex language in which its users use their hands along with facial expressions and body postures. For children who are deaf, early exposure to sign language is very beneficial for them, because the earlier a child is exposed to sign language, the better their communication skills will be. Research suggests that “the first few years of life are the most crucial to a child’s development of language skills, and even the early months of life can be important for establishing successful communication”
A skill that I am now aware that I learned through the Natural Human Learning Process is the skill of driving. I was motivated to start drive because, I didn’t want to ask my parents to take me anywhere, and I was also tired of being late to events. I began practicing by...
To teach the Deaf student, I will use a visual method to sign the verbs because American Sign Language (ASL) does not include the verbs. The students can work together as a group to discover each other’s diverse backgrounds and how each of them learned to appreciate what they have rather than focusing on what they wanted. The groups of three can create a short, pantomime skit that demonstrates the definition of one of the mentioned verbs and share with their classmates. With my background in cinema production, I can use myself as a recorder of the students’ pantomime skits and post them on a class blog. Students can then remember the visual definitions and begin to use them in their sign language and written language. When the students understand the visual verbs, the students will enjoy reading more as they understand the concepts and apply the verbs in their conservation through sign
I’m a Freshman at Eaton Rapids High School, and I have a lot of goals for these next few years. First off, later this year I am running for class president. I have always wanted to give back and lead my class. Also, next year I want to join the football and baseball teams to get more fit. I have already started to train every day. Later in High school I also hope to get accepted into the National Honor Society.
6. What are your goals and objectives for your fist, second and third months in your new
As the year goes on, I am sure I will have my goals set for me to accomplish as well. I can say I am a strong, independent girl who stands up for herself and I never let anyone run over me. I may seem like a mean person, but I am far from that unless you make me become the mean me.
A goal I achieved was when I graduated from high school many years ago. I was the first one in my family to graduate from high school. It was a big accomplishment for me and my mom. Graduating was my goal. I wanted to make my mom proud, life happens I couldn't go to college then but I told myself one day I will full field my dream to have a career. I meet my career advisor at a job fair and am here enrolled to be a medical assistant. My new goal is to work real hard to get the best grades I can possibly get and to have perfect attendance at the end off the medical assistant program. Am going use my time wisely, get all my work done in time and ask for help if I don't understand something.
My goals for myself is to go as far as I can in my educational
The next set of goal setting importance is my personal goals with the first being to over come the obstacles associated with returning to school.
Once you set your goal, you need to start getting more specific. It moves from a dream into reality. Make a plan, it must move from your mind to a piece of paper. Write down the things that you need to do. What do you want to achieve? What will be your life when you achieve your goal? Things that you need to be done. Things that you want to learn more about your goal. Qualities that you admire in others. Improves the qualities you have. Habits that you want to stop and habits that you want to improve.
