Good afternoon Leisel. I'm requesting a room change to a single room because I have had problems with roommates since my very first semester. I know you know this because you have dealt with my last room change request. My first semester, I had several problems with my first roommate Liza and that went into my second semester until I was switched to the room next to her, making me her suite mate. I obviously had no problem with that because I chose to do that; both Luana and I felt it would be great to be roommates because we both have dealt with roommates we did not see eye-to-eye with. However, I sometimes still had to deal with Liza. She would try to get on my case about things that we dealt with as actual roommates, but I just shut her …show more content…
I registered for classes the day registration opened and got a low number meaning I had a chance of getting a single room. However, I didn't get one and I had a mental breakdown, crying and shaking. I had to go to counseling for a while, maybe a week. Eventually I compromised for having a suite with people who were all music majors. I figured that if I couldn't have a single room, the next best thing would be to room with people who share a common goal. So I roomed with Mariel Williams (roommate), and Amanda Lund and Oriana Urdaneta (suite mates). I let everyone know from the beginning that I was going to try out this environment but that if it wasn't working for me on a personal level, I was going to request a single room, and they all understood and knew that it had nothing to do with them. I've just had traumatic events throughout my whole life which has lead me to want to be alone. However, I did try because I wanted to have the college experience of having roommates. It just hasn't worked in my favor. This semester started off okay because I had the room to myself, being that I was here early for O-Team. As soon as my roommate Mariel moved in, however, from the beginning I knew it was going to be a problem because she is an absolute
Art is always a highly debated topic. What is art? What is artistic? Which is better poem or song? Music and poetry are both great ways to express artistic passion, and each have something a little different to from the other. Two greatly artistic pieces is the song “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band, and the poem “Living Room” by david Yezzi. In this case, though it is a great piece, the song “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band is not as artistic as the poem “Living Room” by David Yezzi. The use of similes, rhyme scheme, diction, symbolism, and just overall theme, truly makes “Living Room” the more artistic piece. Each have their pro’s and con’s, and each have powerful poetic devices, some more than others. Though both pieces have artistic grounds,
In Edgar Allan Poe's short story, "The Masque of the Red Death", Poe use many symbols
Advice I would give to next years freshman is do not go boy-crazy or girl-crazy during the first semester at least because you need to focus on what you really came here for is higher education. It’s hard enough to get adjusted to the college life, with different methods of teaching to all of the homework. The only emotional distress one should have, not that one should, is just stressing over school. Stressing over being in a relationship isn’t worth it. A second piece of advice I would love to give is studying or doing homework in your dorm room is not effective, you get distracted easily. Go out to the library, and get your homework done faster in a peaceful and quiet environment. I didn’t learn this until the ending of the semester, I wish I had gone to the library earlier, then maybe my grades would be better than they are this semester.
The place where I feel the most comfortable, and show my personality, is my bedroom. This is the place where I can really be myself and do what I want; it’s the place I come home to, and wake up every day. My room makes me feel comfortable because it is my own space. My house is always crazy, with my dog barking, and my siblings running around making noise, my room is the only place in the house where I can come and relax without caring about everything else, the only place that I can go to clear my mind.
For this project, I chose to go to a concert with my parents at a bar they regularly attend. I chose this because I was interested in what they do on their nights out and they needed a designated driver. I borrowed a pair of boots from my mom and was set to boot-scoot and boogie.
College is a life altering experience. It is a place where you leave anything and everything you have ever known, to come to a place where nothing is familiar. The summer before your freshman year of college can be a nerve racking experience. You anxiously wait for the day when the mailman will bring you that envelope that holds your fate. Enclosed in this envelope is the name of your roommate. Your roommate can have the biggest influence on your freshmen year. They can turn into your best friend or your worst enemy. You anticipate the day when you actually get to meet the person you will be living with for the whole year. At Penn State there are no guarantees that you will have anything in common with your roommate at all, and that is a scary thing.
You might have heard about many personalities and their success stories or about their struggling life, but the personality which I am going to talk about in later para is far away from them. What I mean is that the person is totally different from them and he marked a spot among the existing business tycoons and left a question behind them that whether a guy who is just 17 years of age can climb the stairs of success so quickly or not. Well, he is at the zenith of his career and he thought of expanding his business which he previously thought not to abjure at the mid way if any pitfall comes in between. You are getting baffled whom I am talking about, right. Well, he is none other than the founder of OYO

Everyone has their own, personal place to have alone time and clear their heads. For me, that place is my bedroom in my apartment. My room is the one place where I feel most nostalgic and comfortable; its’ a comfort that can’t be replaced. My bedroom is my favorite room in my apartment because I always have my privacy there, and I feel like it shows my personal style, which I love.
In A Room of One’s Own, Virginia Woolf explores the flipside of the perception of the patriarchy and uses anger as a common thread in her arguments. First, she challenges the idea that men are the sole beneficiaries of the patriarchy and claims a male-dominated society negatively affects men since they develop misplaced anger and fragile egos that depend on the perceived inferiority of women. Secondly, Woolf says women may actually benefit from the patriarchy, and because women have not been exposed to the same experiences as men for so long, they developed a unique writing style (86). Woolf says women should embrace this distinct feminine voice, instead of trying to write like men or be angry about the injustices inflicted on them. However,
I knew she was just worried about me, but to be honest it bothered me. It sounded masochistic, but now I didn't want her to have stopped Alia from insulting me. She was my sisters, we were both near the perfect age to be 'moody teenagers' and we lived under the same roof. It was almost natural for us to yell at each other frequently.
In the world in which those before us lived, literature convened on the concepts and attitudes that those in society took towards women. These attitudes put men on a higher pedestal than that of women, which made women out to be a glimmer within the realm of the world. At a point in the past, men were more important because they held most of the prominent roles of which “made the world go round”. Virginia Woolf dwells on the differences between men and women in her essay A Room of One’s Own: It is obvious that the values of women differ very often from the values which have been made by the other sex; naturally, this is so.
Over the course of the semester, I have learned a few things about myself. I have learned that I can be independent, I always knew myself as someone who could do mostly everything on their own. This semester really made me realize how independent I could actually be. Not only have I learned how independent I am I have also realized the importance of time management. With not having a strict class schedule it was a lot different than what I was originally used to. After a few weeks, I learned ways that would work best for me, for example writing down that I needed to get done. I learned that I need to focus on what 's ahead of me to accomplish what I want to succeed in, to manage what needs to be done ahead of time to stay caught up.
A mixture of endearingly vibrant colours, makes this modern, multi functional living room come to life in an instant. The colours of choice used impose a delightful air of trendy sophistication. Cotton white walls and dark wood floors acts as a blank canvas allowing colour to be introduced by its furnishings and accessories.
