Animal farm By: George Orwell is a farm run by animals, first treated horribly by humans and then they turned to rebellion. It was turned into a farm that was run by animals. Animal Farm is a tremendous piece of literature that uses great connections to what went on with the Soviet Union and communism. The quote I will be focusing on from this story and explaining further meaning is "There was nothing there now except a single Commandment. It ran: ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS” (Orwell 134). The lesson from this quote that Orwell wants the readers to learn is that a goal for our humanity is to all be equal to one another and share the power we have. Even though that may not come to be and isn’t very realistic for our world, it should be a goal the people should follow and try their best to achieve. One of them which was segregation in America. In animal Farm, the quote "There was nothing there now except a single Commandment. It ran: ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS” (Orwell 134) is like what the US government said about being segregated by race. The US government said that blacks and whites would be “ Separate but equal.” And indeed the races were separate but not at all equal. Caucasian children went to clean large schools with great and new materials. African American children were forced to go to a dirty small school with very used and falling apart materials. These schools were not equal at all. Other things like water fountains, homes, stores and more were the same way during the segregation time period. Colored people wanted equality.
