They went through so much nobody couldn’t even image how much pain they went through. Some went through famine, drought, disease and through family lose. Everyone can help these Children by giving just a shoebox of joy to get their mind off the lost of their family, that could help them so much. That is the way the book by Franklin Graham is called “A Story of Simple Gift.” It tells about how much a difference it could make just by a shoebox. These children wait all year to see if they are going to get a shoebox. I believe that America can help more than what we are doing now.

Problem

Some people don’t appreciate the gifts they get. Children in Africa don’t have anything they could have used that, and loved it. “Seventy- five

percent of the world’s poorest countries are located in Africa. More than a million children under the age of 5 have died from malaria. Seven hundred thirty-eight million of people globally lack access to clean water, and 589 million people live without electricity. Ten countries are in extreme poverty in Africa.” The Borgen Project). That is how some children live in Africa it is way different from how people in America lives. children in the US don’t use half the stuff they have. Children across the world aren’t getting what they need. Like combs, hair brushes, soap, and even toys. These children want to go to school, Americans who go to school hate to going to school, but these children crave it. They would do anything to go. Sometimes they can’t go to middle school because elementary school was free, and middle school has fees to go. Some family can pay for school others aren't so lucky. Then the children need to make money to buy food for their family. Sometimes they are employed against their will. The children’s ages are between 5-17 that is sad because those are young children to be working. Sometimes it is to support their families, so they can buy food. Additionally these families don’t have enough money to have medical help when they are sick or injured. That means if they are sick, they might not have the money to get help. If they have an infection in their body, they can’t do anything about it. This problem is still going on even in our own country lets show the people of Africa that we care about them.

History
Poverty is an age-old problem, and poverty, mostly affects children. One person started to help these children in need and his name was Bob Pierce. "Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God." Bob Pierce. After visiting children in Korean Island he wanted to help people in need after a natural disaster. Bob Pierce helped found Samaritan’s Purse in 1970. He devoted his life to help people in poor conditions, and to helping countries that were in need also to do through evangelism. After WWII, Bob went to Asia and was an evangelist and journalist for Youth For Christ. While in China he found a brave woman tending to the lepers who are people with a terrible disease that gave them sores all over their bodies, it causes nerve damage, and it is contagious by skin to skin contact. also orphans, she is sacrificing everything to tell them about Jesus Christ. Through his love and selflessness God gave Bob a great vision for his ministry. In the summer, of 1973 Bob met a young man named Franklin Graham. He had a growing heart for ministry. Franklin saw the poverty in other countries and wanted to help. In 1978 Bob died of leukemia and soon after that Franklin Graham became the presentiand and chairman of Samaritan's Purse. Samaritan’s Purse has helped out with earthquakes, hurricanes, wars, and famine, etc. Samaritan’s Purse follow God’s word and what he teaches us. They follow Him and the teach the people to also follow God. For every problem there is always a solution.

Solution
Everyone can help these children by spreading the word.

Everyone can spread the word at school or at work. Everyone can do fundraisers. Everyone can help out at a bake sale or help bake, and all of the donations go to Operation Christmas Child or another source. Also everyone can help by volunteering, at Operation Christmas Child or help pack shoeboxes. Some people can also maybe go on a trip to help pass out boxes. Everyone can help by just donating. Everyone’s donation can really help. Also get social media into it so it will get attention and people will start doing something about it. It might just go international and that would help us a lot. These children need attention they have been suffering for years, some of them. Some of them their parents have died, and they are surviving on their own. They need our help, and they need it now. Volunteering has a good feeling after. If everyone packs a shoebox, then more children will get presents, and their gratitude will be immense. When these children get their shoebox there face just lights up with joy. Everyone can help out by volunteering, fundraisers, and spreading the word out. Operation Christmas Child is helping children across the world get all of this stuff. Some children in Africa are really poor they don’t have enough money to buy food. So that means they don’t have enough money to buy the necessities they need to keep them healthy. America has enough to help out people just needs to care. America has enough to

share because sharing is caring, and don’t people care? Everyone is having enough to help people just don’t have the heart. If America starts to help out it just could make a huge difference. Operation Christmas Child is helping children in Africa get what they need. These shoeboxes bring so much joy to them, and in America if somebody gets a shoebox that person would complain about it. America needs to stop being so selfish people need to help others in need.

This story is about a young boy named Alex who lived in Rwanda. Rwanda was at war the death toll was so high it reached to be 1 million people dead. When Alex was 4 years old his grandmother and uncle were tortured and murdered right in front of him and his brother. The neighbor who murdered his family did it because he knew that his grandmother and his uncle was Tutsis. The Tutsis were the first to hunt down in the war. Alex and his brother had to an orphanage because his aunt was dying. 3 months later his aunt died. When he was still young Samaritan's Purse came and gave him a shoebox, and that meant so much to him. He said that is was the best feeling he had ever had. Several years later he was adopted by an American family in Winona, Minnesota. He said, “I love everything about Minnesota but the snow and cold.” He had been praying for an opportunity then Samaritan’s Purse gave him the opportunity to go back to the orphanage where he stayed. The first thing he did was go to the prison to find the person who murdered his family. He found him and Alex forgave him. He forgave the person who murdered his whole family that is huge! There are pictures of him and the man hugging and laughing together. After that, he went and handed out shoeboxes to the orphanage. Alex’s story is so amazing he just kept moving forward when most people would look back and complain. This story inspired me to do better I hope it does the same to everyone.

Local Communities
Local communities are helping by volunteering, help out at the Charlotte, North Carolina is a distribution or in Boone North Carolina is also a distribution center. Everyone can help their community by volunteering at church to bring the shoeboxes to the truck. One other idea to help out by volunteering. People can sign up to help log, count the boxes, and help pack them into the bigger boxes. The Billy Graham Training Center in Asheville, North Carolina is where you can drop off your shoeboxes. Volunteers can help by counting the shoeboxes, getting people’s information, help carry the boxes, and help pack the shoeboxes into the bigger boxes. Some people might say, “I will go volunteer later.” but in reality people will probably forget about and not go. Some people might even want go because it is too much work, or people are not in the mood. Some people have a hard time volunteering, but kind in mind that it is for a good cause. Also to keep in mind that it is for people around the world or country.

Recommendation
Samaritan's Purse is doing very well.

They are getting boxes, and spreading the word of God to the children. They are getting people involved in it, and they are getting donations. Even sometimes children get a letter in their shoebox, and the parents get in touch and the adopt them. That is a miracle from God.There isn’t much to talk about how they can improve because they are doing so good. One thing is they might need more supplies because while volunteering there was no more big boxes to pack them in so the truck was filled with shoeboxes, and a lot of people came and was chaos. What they need is people to donate and help people across the world, and people will go to those places. Help out people in need donate or make a shoebox. There is a new feature is where so people can track their shoebox and see where it goes. That is awesome, so then people can pray for the child who gets it in that country. Also people can make a shoebox online. Everyone can make a difference in a child’s life. Children everywhere need help not just in Africa.

Conclusion

Everyone should all help out in the community. These children need help, and they are waiting for our help. They look up to America as a strong, big country. These children don’t need to suffer, everyone can make a difference. America needs to help more than what people are doing. Don’t lay around these children are waiting for years. They all look up to us for refuge, and a place where they could relax. Millions of children

are suffering do something about. Make America have a heart for these children, none of these children get the help they need. Everyone can help by donating or helping out in local communities.
