He is recognized for his mastery of contemporary narrative, using a wide range of literary tools that go beyond the simple structure of his stories, immersing readers in deep and multifaceted emotional experiences. The Blue Hour is one of his most emblematic novels. It is based on the life of the main character, Adrián Ormache, an upper-class lawyer from Lima; he seems to lead the perfect life until the death of his mother occurs, which triggers a series of surprising events that lead to a revelation. As a key characteristic of Alonso Cueto's prose, he makes continuous use of literary figures, especially metaphor, simile and symbolism.
