The two characters, Tom Robinson and Boo Radley appear to be most like mockingbirds because of their innocence. When Harper Lee wrote about Tom Robinson’s parts of the story it showed us somewhat it was like to be black in a time with lots of racism. The unfairness in life dependent on your skin color was conveyed well through Tom’s experiences. Also when Harper Lee showed and told about Boo Radley she conveyed the theme of walking in another's shoes. Boo had some mental issues and did not act the same as most. He could not help himself with certain actions and others were unable to understand that. Also Tom showed readers

how important it is to understand that you need to be less judgemental to others. Boo also conveyed to readers that it is very important to see things from others points of view. Therefore, both characters showed injustices done to them, making them ultimately lose their innocence. Tom Robinson was one main character that was conveyed to be a mockingbird.
One reason he is considered a mockingbird is because he was innocent in his case. He did not attack Mayella. Tom says “She says for me to kiss her back. And I said, Miss Mayella, let me outta here, an’ I tried to run. Mr Ewell cussed at her from the window and said he’s gonna kill her.” (Lee,). Another reason he is considered to be a mockingbird is because Mayella attacked him. She tried to get him to be inappropriate with her even though she knew what would happen to him. Finally, he is innocent and considered to be a mockingbird because, after found guilty he was shot seventeen times. They could have killed him in another less viscous way. Others may not agree with Tom’s innocence because he may have raped Mayella. ALthough that is a thought, he did not. He could not have raped her with his story. What was said shows clearly that he did not and could not rape her. This explains Tom’s connection to being a
mockingbird. Boo Radley is another main character that can be seen as a mockingbird. He can be considered as a mockingbird because he had a mental disorder. He could not control some of his instincts and actions. Some of his actions were to do with his mental disorder. Another reason he can be seen as innocent is because he was protective over Jem and Scout, which is why he killed Bob Ewell. He thought of himself as one of their protectors. He can also be conveyed as an innocent character because he tried to be nice. He did not try to show himself as a bad person, he never wanted to be seen that way. Others would disagree with Boo being innocent because he murdered Bob Ewell. But this would not make him bad because he was doing for protection. He saw that Bob was attacking Jem and Scout and tried to protect them from him. He did not intentionally harm him, he did it for protection. These are examples that show Boo Radley conveys the image of a mockingbird. Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are two characters in the story To Kill A Mockingbird that act most like mockingbirds. Meaning that they are innocent. Boo was considered innocent because he has mental issues and felt the need to protect Jem and Scout. Tom Robinson is conveyed as innocent because he did not attack Mayella and was accused based on his race. So, Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are considered mockingbirds because they are innocent, and they lost their innocence due to rumors and not good things.
“... Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s garden’s. They don’t nest in the corncubs. They don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” (pg.103)Mayella is innocent because she grew up in an abusive household. The book gives hints that her father Bob Ewell sexually assaults her and leaves her to take care of her so called “brothers and sisters.” Mayella Ewell was put on stand and was made to lie to the judge and jury by her father, Bob Ewell, who beats her and abuses

To KIll A Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee in the 1950’s. She based this book of her own home town. Two characters in the book are Boo Radley and Mayella Ewell and they are very different people. Although the book does not tell us much about Boo, the end reveals a caring and thoughtful guy. Mayella on the other hand, is racist and “white trash”. Mayella and Boo are also similar because they are both not liked much in Maycomb.
because Tom Robinson is also a Mockingbird Figure. We know that Tom Robinson was found guilty of the charge of Rape to Mayella Ewell. This happened even though there was no evidence whatsoever to say that Tom did it, and plenty to say that he was, in fact, totally innocent. Also Tom in the trial shows how caring and honest he is when he says.
To Kill A Mocking Bird is set in a small town in South America called Maycomb. Most of the town’s people of this happy town are not at all what they seem for there is a great hate for all coloured humans. At first glance many readers would wonder how the title evolved, but once you explore the text you begin to understand what the bases of Harper Lee’s message. Harper Lee has portrayed two characters as Mocking Birds. The first of these is Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson is a Negro living in Maycomb who becomes notorious when he is wrongly accused of the rape of a white woman. Atticus knows that the battle will not be an easy case to win, but decides to represent Tom Robinson, as he says that he couldn’t hold his head up in town or tell the children what to do.
Boo Radley is more subtle in showing how he represents the mockingbird, as he is more of a quiet, shy character. Boo was confined to his home but is still aware of the people around him. The children view him more as a superstition than a person in the beginning of the novel but Scout realizes just how good of a person Boo really is when he saves her and Jem from Mr. Ewell. Tom Robinson represented the killing of the mockingbird. He was looked down upon by most of the community but he was an innocent man who had no intention of harming anyone, yet he was still convicted of the crime and sentenced to
Tom was shot by 17 bullets for no reason, they killed him so they could prove to the others that they would chose a white man word over a black man's anyday. Likewise, mockingbirds are killed for no reason too, just for personal enjoyment. After Tom’s death, Mr. underwood writes an editorial that describes Tom’s death as the “senseless slaughter of a songbird”. This means that the innocent and warm hearted Tom was judged by the color of his skin and was misjudged by people in Maycomb, just like how the mockingbird was killed by people. Tom realizing that he’s going to be stuck in prison forever tried to make a run for it “we had such a good chance. I guess Tom was tired of white men’s chances and prefered to take his own”. (Pg.236). Tom tried to escape just like a mockingbird that escapes from it’s cage to only be shot by men. The people in Maycomb never understood that what they did to Tom was wrong and never knew that Tom was trying to escape from his death, this can relate to the mockingbirds that get killed by people without them noticing that they mean no harm and that they’re only here to bring us happiness with their music. Tom Robinson lives like a mockingbird, he’s an innocent, kind, loving person who is destroyed by evil
To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, is a courageous tale of leadership and gallantry. This book voices the story of a young girl, Scout, and the town of Maycomb. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird there are numerous quotes to which you should bring to your attention. By far, the most important quote describes what Boo Radley experienced all those years he was locked away in his house, “A boy trotted down the sidewalk dragging a fishing pole beside him. A man stood waiting with his hands on his hips. Summertime, and his children played in the front yard with their friend, enacting a strange drama of their own invention.…. Fall, and his children trotted to and fro around the corner, the day’s woes and triumphs on their faces. They stopped at an oak tree, delighted, puzzled, and apprehensive. Winter, and his children shivered at the front gate, silhouetted against a blazing house…. Summer, and he watched his children’s heart break. Autumn again, and Boo’s children needed him. Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them. Just standing on the Radley porch was enough” (Lee 236-237). All those years he has watched as Scout and Jem grew up. All those years he imagined they were his own. Characterization is significant for the reason that Scout realized Boo Radley isn’t the irrational murderer, he is portrayed to be; he is pleasant and generally cares for the children.

It was controversial by demonstrating discrimination based on old stories, looks and social status. The people that were known as the mockingbirds were Boo Radley, Tom Robinson and one may also say Mayella Ewell.
As the novel continues, I begin to consider Tom Robinson as a mockingbird since he helped Mayella frequently, nevertheless the jury still convicted Tom for his race, not due to what he did or didn't engage in. During Tom’s testimony, Atticus asked if Mayella ever paid Tom for the services he did. Tom’s responded, “No suh, not after she offered me a nickel the first time. I knew she didn't have any nickels to spare. ”(Lee 191)
...birds are one of the main symbols. Mockingbirds are innocent they do not harm anyone but makes beautiful music. However, they get killed by people every day. There are many innocent person present in this novel; three main characters that are Tom Robinson, Boo Radley, and Mr. Dolphus Raymond, and they symbolize the Mockingbirds. Tom was a wrongly accused of rape, and he was brutally killed because he was black. Boo Radley did not do any harm to anyone, he was innocent, but people in the Maycomb County were thinking him as a monster which hurt him mentally. Lastly, Mr. Raymond symbolized the Mockingbird because he was innocent, however only because he thought different than others, he was looked down by the people in Maycomb County. Mockingbirds in this novel symbolized the innocent people who are getting wrongly accused and their innocence getting destroyed by evil.
Why is this the mockingbird an appropriate reference for Tom Robinson? Because he never really committed the crime Mayella Ewell accused him of. Similar the mockingbird, Tom
The 3 characters who are most relatively liked by readers through the story are usually compared to the mockingbird, these characters are Atticus,Boo Radley, Tom Robinson. To Kill a Mocking Bird expresses the racist attitudes of Maycomb most dominantly in the court case involving Tom Robinson (who's lawyer is Atticus Finch) and Mayella Eule. The trial makes blatantly obvious to the reader that Tom Robinson, the black man accused of rape is innocent and yet the jury finds him guilty. It also establishes that Mayella was actually beaten by her father and although the evidence that points to this occurrence is circumstantial, it is made perfectly clear. The court case also clarifies to the reader the frightful nature and obvious abundance of racism within the small town of Maycomb.
The main symbols discussed and portrayed in the book were Tim Johnson, the Mockingbirds and Boo Radley. Tim Johnson was a neighbourhood dog who appeared down the Finch’s street one day, but looked very ill and was rabid. Calpurnia the black maid working at the Finch’s rang Atticus and he shot it. Tim Johnson could symbolize the prejudice and mob mentality of Maycomb at the time and because Atticus shot Tim this represents Atticus’s morals beliefs about stopping racism and creating equality. The Mockingbird used in the title of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is the most important symbol depicted in this novel. One day Atticus told Jem that he’d rather Jem shoot at tin cans, but he knew Jem would go after birds. He gave Jem permission to shoot all the blue jays he felt like, but it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Jem then went to Miss Maudie to ask about what Atticus had just said, "Your father’s right," she said. "Mockingbirds don’t do one thing except make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corn cribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” This conveys the loss of innocence in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ and thus killing a Mockingbird is to destroy innocence. A number of characters (Jem, Tom Robinson, Dill, Boo Radley, Mr. Raymond) can be identified as Mockingbirds who have been injured or destroyed through their contact with evil. As the novel progresses, the children’s perspective towards Boo Radley matures and this replicates the development of the children. Boo Radley was once an intelligent child, only to be ruined by his cruel father is one of the most important mockingbirds as his innocence was destroyed. Luckily for Jem and Scout, Boo was merely a source of childhood superstition often leaving presents for them. Despite the pain that Boo
