The Laws of Moses and Hammurabi's code have some very interesting similarities and parallels. The Law of Moses and Hammurabi Code where a set of rules to live by. Unlike the Hammurabi Code, The Law of Moses is more than a legal code. It speaks about humanity's sin and their responsibility to God. The Hammurabi Code does not do this, however. The Code of Hammurabi focused on criminal and civil laws. The way they went about bringing justice to these laws were harsh, and brutal punishments. While Law of Moses provided justice, it also dealt with spiritual, moral and civil laws.

Moses and Hammurabi’s complex system of laws were unique to their times. Hammurabi is said to have received his code from the Babylonian god of justice, Shamash. While in the Bible Moses received God’s Law on top of Mount Sinai directly from God. …show more content…
