Leadership styles and personalities of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. During the start of the year 1930’s two very influential characters were fighting for the rights of African Americans in the United States. In that era racism and segregation against the colored people from part of the white people it caused a big impact to all the community. A lot of those people even got to the point that they started to use African Americans as slaves at the field camps. They used to live on very harsh conditions which led to Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X to fight for their rights. He entered in every single person’s mind with his knowledge to change every single way they were behaving towards humanity. One of the greatest persons to cause a revolution without the use of violence towards the superiors who never agreed to change anything for the better. Promoting everyone to change it in a peaceful way while in the other hand Malcolm X told everyone in his amazing speeches that they needed to fight back. He used a quote that influenced everyone that said “Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery” (International Herald Tribune, 2010). A totally different perspective from what Martin Luther King Jr was saying to all the people but thanks to that speech it gave that fire inside the African Americans that they needed to understand that no one else has the power to rule or to control them at any time. He promoted that they needed to obey the laws, and to respect everyone but if by any chance someone had the courage to put a hand on them, he promoted to hurt them even to the point where they could even kill someone. Maybe you could think that it wasn’t the best way to influence the people that was still scared, but he made a point that no one else was able to make.
