In "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" and "A Rasin in the Sun," the characters are motivated by success and dignity. Although the characters' definitions of success are different, their motivations are the same. Each character wants success but they view success in a different way: power and respect, family and integrity, and happiness. Both Water from "A Rasin in the Sun" and Cassius from "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar," want similar to the same things. Walter wants more respect, he is motivated, driven and ambitious, he wants to reach his goal. He feels as though having more money, having a bigger house, will make him more equal to the white men he saw in the window at a small resturant in his home town, who he assumed was around the same age as he was. Cassius wants more power to his name, he is greedy, selfish, he is narcisistic and cunning. He does not want to be king but he wants the recognition of saving Caesars life, he values power and valor. Cassius is Scorned and bitter as where Walter feels like Society is unfair and he is underappreciated causing him to selfish and want what he thinks is best for him. …show more content…

Money is not just so you will fit in, it is so much more. She wants to sway him to make the right choice, he does not have to fit in. He shouldn't have to have money to be respected and Brutus is trying to do the same. He is trying to do what is best for Rome. Cassius is telling him all these things trying to get him to see everything his way. Brutus just wants to do what is best and he has trouble seeing things the way Cassius wants him
