The main similarity between Andrew Jackson and Theodore Roosevelt was the fact that they both were one of the presidents of the United States of America. Jackson and Roosevelt had both served at least two terms in office. They both had some sort of failed assassination attempt against each of them. The both of them had admitted one or more states into America. with Theodore Roosevelt just admitting Oklahoma into the union and Andrew Jackson admitting Arkansas and Michigan into the union. These are just a few similarities between these two men during their period of presidency.
Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were completely at odds in their vision on how America was to develop. Hamilton wanted to concentrate power in a centralized federal government with limited access and Jefferson wished to diffuse it among all the eligible freemen of the time. Alexander Hamilton feared anarchy and distrusted popular rule while Jefferson feared tyranny and thought in terms of liberty and freedom.
Both men (Jefferson and Madison) as well as both parties were steadfast to their views of interpretation in words, but when it came to action, they strayed from their political conceptions about the Constitution. Both political figures reinstated time after time that the nation rested solely on the states, but when the time came, with it was the second war with Britain or the trade with France, the two men broke from strict constructionism, in order to serve the public interest. In general, both presidents took the views of either party when it suited him best.
Have you ever heard of the Enlightenment era in history? It was a significant period in time where people started to have new ideas in technology, science, politics, and philosophy. The Enlightenment also brought about a lot of memorable thinkers who still continue to influence us today. Among those thinkers included the very wise John Locke and Thomas Jefferson. John Locke was an excellent Enlightenment philosopher who actually influenced Thomas Jefferson’s writings for the Declaration of Independence. Their writings helped to create the unity in America, and justify the break from Great Britain. As a result, together these two famous philosophers helped our country become independent with the Declaration
Having grown up in not the wealthiest family, Andrew Jackson considered himself to be the President of the “common man.” He believed that the rich held too much of the power and would bid to the governments wishes for their own selfish purposes. Ambrose argues that Thomas Jefferson had “a great mind and a limited character” because of his contradictory views on slavery. In the early 1800’s slavery was a controversial issue, but Thomas Jefferson knew the solution. Thomas Jefferson believed “slavery was wrong” (2), and he “hoped and expected Virginians… would abolish slavery,” (2) he wanted to end slavery, understanding it would benefit America. Stubbornly, he refused to implement it into his lifestyle. Jefferson was a wealthy slave owner and was known to “profit from the institution” (2). Presidents have come and gone throughout our countries history. They each have their claim to fame and each leaves the country a better or worse place. However, when we talk about presidents Andrew Jackson and Thomas Jefferson there is a dispute among who advocated for the people and Democratic Party. Each of these men were met with many controversies in their terms, and they both had their fair share of critics. I believe Thomas Jefferson should be accredited with serving for the commo9n man and laying the foundation of the Democratic Party due to his strict constructionism, awareness of the countries needs, and being a proponent of the common man.
Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton held very different views on almost everything in regards to American politics. While they were both wealthy, well-educated men, they had dramatically different views on the power of the federal government, the economy, and their general view of Americans. Hamilton believed in a strong federal government that would be led by the well-educated elite. He even stated, “Give therefore to the first class a distinct, permanent share of the government. They will check the unsteadiness of the second, and as they cannot receive any advantage by a change, they therefore will ever maintain good government.” His supporters, who were generally Northern businessmen and bankers, reflected these opinions. Jefferson, however, believed that the future of the United States was in farming. He believed in a limited national government and a strict interpretation of the Constitution. The biggest argument between the

The United States of America has had over forty presidents in his many years. Though many of them have made a significant impact on us as a country, no one has introduced as many conflicts as Andrew Jackson. I believe that Andrew Jackson was a successful president in his political tactics and implementations of new ideas but proved to be very unsuccessful in his maintenance of the social order and structure of the United States and the people in them.
