My favorite book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling. This book is full of adventure, mystery and suspense. It is about a boy named Harry Potter, whose parents died when he was at a very young age whom later on Harry found out were killed by Lord Voldemort, the Dark Wizard. He was then raised by his Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia and their son, Dudley who were not kind and abusive to Harry. His life changed on his 11th birthday when he found out that he is actually a wizard. Hagrid, a groundskeeper at Hogwarts helped him to shop for everything he would need to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He took the train from platform 9 ¾ where he met his new friends, Hermione and Ron. They were housed at the Gryffindors ( a house known for bravery). He learned how to make potions and fly a broom ( Harry realized he’s a superstar on a broomstick) and earned himself a spot on a Gryffindor Quidditch team as a Seeker, which is a very important position on the team. He was given an invisibility cloak which enables him to sneak around the castle without getting caught. He had adventures after adventures, but the greatest of …show more content…
them all was the discovery of the Sorcerer’s Stone which allows the user to turn any metal into pure gold and produce the Elixir of Life which can make the drinker immortal. This stone is hidden in a chamber guarded by a three-headed dog named Fluffy. Harry, Ron and Hermione later found out that somebody would like to steal the stone and had decided to guard it, but without their knowledge Professor Quirrell who later revealed the face of Voldemort on the back of his head followed them to the site and tried to grab the stone from Harry but failed. Harry passed out. Voldemort lived and left Quirrell to die. Harry awakened in the hospital and Dumbledore told him that Harry’s mother sacrificed her life to protect him. One of the main reason why Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is one of my favorite books of all time is because you never know what you are going to expect next.
It is full of mystery. Harry was convinced that Professor Snape was the villain, who caused all the mishaps in Hogwarts and whose mission is to harm the Griffindor house especially Harry. Harry, Ron and Hermione suspected that he tried to jinx Harry’s broom during the Quidditch game and letting in the troll to terrorize the students in the school. As it turned out, it was actually Professor Quirrell whom you would never suspect. He’s new to Hogwarts, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, kind of odd, stutters and portrayed as weak and meek to be a threat to anyone. He has a deep dark secret- being Voldemort himself hidden under his
turban. If you’ve read the book, you must have felt the rush of excitement, sitting at the edge of your seat and would not put the book down to follow Harry, Ron and Hermione unravel the obstacles and challenges leading to the Sorcerer’s Stone. They have to get passed Fluffy by wearing the invisible cloak and putting him down to sleep by playing the flute. Then they escaped from the strangling vines of the Devil’s Snare. Next they needed to find the correct fying key from among the hundreds to enter the next chamber. Teamwork and Ron’s expertise made them win the giant wizard chess match but Ron got knocked out by the Queen in the end and has to stay behind. Hermione and Harry continued to the next challenge which is to choose the non poisonous potion by drinking it leaving Harry to proceed to the next and final challenge which is to retrieve the Sorcerer’s Stone from within the Mirror of Erised. The book teaches you the value of family, love, friendship and loyalty. Harry’s parents were killed protecting him from Lord Voldemort. Ron, Hermione, Hagrid and Dumbledore were Harry’s loyal friends who helped him along the way. It tells you too that you may overcome any obstacles in life if you put your heart into it and believing that you will succeed and remain humble. It takes some courage to face the things you fear most. It also shows that Good always triumphs against Evil. If your intentions are true and are for the greater good, the outcome will always end up in your favor.
Over the course of this summer I read four books. The books I read were Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J K Rowling, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix, and Number the Stars by Lois Lowry again. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J K Rowling was the first book I read this summer and I really liked it. I decided to read the 5th Harry Potter book because I had it and I never really got a chance to read it. The book begins were it had left you of in the 4th book when Harry is just about to enter his 5th year at Hogwarts. He still lives with his aunt and uncle whom he hates because they are mean and evil to him. The letters from his friends are very dull and they have nothing to say, which confuses him and makes him furious. He is also mad because he’s still stuck with the Dursleys all summer long. The story goes with his adventures and challenges throughout his 5th year. The genre is fantasy complete with magic. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes the Harry Potter books. I would also recommend that if you have never read any of the previous books you start from the beginning. I can’t wait ‘till the next book comes out!
The book that I read and the movie that I watched is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The book was written by the British author, J.K Rowling, and the movie was directed by the English director and producer, Mike Newell. The main characters are Harry Potter (portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). The book was first released in the United States of America and the United Kingdom on July 8, 2000 . The movie had its premiere in London on November 6, 2005. It is classified as a mystery/fantasy genre for both the movie and the book. The story starts with Harry returning to Hogwarts for his fourth year, where the Triwizard tournament between the three well-known schools of magic, Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang, is about to begin, wherein 1 champion aged 17 and above,
A movie that came out in 2002 was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This movie was based off the best-selling novel, which was written in 1997 by J.K. Rowling, called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. If you were to read this book and watch the movie you would find many differences, but the main difference between the two is that the book gives more information to the reader than the movie gives to the viewer. If someone was to watch the movie instead of reading the book, that person would not be able to have an accurate perception of the book because so many things in the book are changed in the movie or parts are left out of the movie completely. This is mainly because the book has more characters and chapters, which are able to keep the reader informed and interested. Still, the movie is shorter so that people who want a quick summary of the storyline can get it,
Have you ever been reading a book and thought to yourself, this sounds very similar to something. In the novel, The Canterbury Tales written in the 1300’s, Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Pardoner’s tale. In the Pardoner’s tale, Chaucer has death acting as a thief who would kill the ones that are doing wrong or harmful things (Lowell, Student Resources in Context). Later on in life, in J.K Rowling series Harry Potter, there was a similarity found. In the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, a story told about three brothers who were tricked by death. Harry Potter fans began to see the comparison between the two stories. There are very similar and different things about each. In a recent interview with J.K Rowling she is said to have been inspired
Withstanding the powers of Lord Voldemort, and, taking him back into the underworld in hiding. In the first book, Harry receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He’s eventually allowed to go, and spends the next six months there learning magic, getting into trouble, and trying to solve mysteries of his past, and the school. In the second book, Harry goes back to his second year at Hogwarts, and gets into more trouble, figures out many astonishing mysteries and learns loads more magic. His best friends in the two books consist of Ron and Hermione (two of his fellow wizard students) and Hagrid the gamekeeper who was expelled from Hogwarts but allowed a job as the gamekeeper.
Harry Potter and Jane Eyre are two novel characters who have quite a lot of similarities. In their early childhood, both were raised as orphans, both experienced cruelty and unkind treatment from relatives who were supposed to take care of them, both were given opportunity to study and live far away from the people who treated them harshly, and both of them had a life-changing experience in their respective schools.
Your books have taught me to be brave and not give up. Harry would never give up to protect everyone from the worst sorcerer in the world, Voldemort. He even made the ultimate sacrifice of not being able to die and see his parents in the afterlife because Voldemort was the only one able to kill Harry. Harry made this sacrifice to protecst everyone. He didn't give up to any of this. This was truly inspiring to me and led me to make choices that didn't just benefit a few people, but everyone.
Is The Copper Gauntlet similar to J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books? Holly Black and Cassandra Clare are creators of the book The Copper Gauntlet, the second book in the Magisterium book series. The book is about a teenage boy, Callum Hunt, going back to the Magisterium, a school for kids who have powers. Being familiar with both book series, the reader will find three major similarities between both works.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was written by J. K. Rowling and is the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. The book is about a seventeen-year-old wizard, named Harry Potter, who has to travel all over England to find things that will help him defeat the evil wizard, Lord Voldomort. The main theme/moral of the entire series is good will always triumphs over evil. In every book, even when it looks like evil is going to win, good always triumphs in the end.
The name Harry Potter is a popular name worldwide, there seems to not be a single person unaware of who this special wizard is. The issue is every one knows this name from the movies, but Harry Potter first came from a book. This book is called Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by J.K. Rowling.
Harry Potter starts off slow, but gets very interesting near the end. In the beginning, you meet the Dursleys, Harry’s aunt, uncle, and their son Dudley. Then you learn that Harry’s parents were witches, and that they were destroyed by a evil wizard. A good witch, Albus Dumbeldoor, sends Harry to the Dursleys, because they’re his only remaining family. The Dursleys however, hated Harry and his family, so Harry was mistreated for years. He was forced to live in a cuborrod under the stairs. He had to watch as the fat, stuck up Dudley got whatever he wanted, and then usually broke whatever it was he got. Then one day Harry got a letter.
The Magical World of Harry Potter The Harry Potter series is one of the most influential book series in the past decade. The series resolves around the experiences of a boy, Harry Potter in the wizarding school of Hogwarts and his battle against his mortal enemy. The story begins with Harry’s revelation of being a wizard at the age of eleven, and the discovery of his past. He learns that his parents were murdered by a Dark wizard named Lord Voldemort, when he was only a year old.
My book report is on the book 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone' by J.K.
The Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the first novel of the harry potter series by author J.K. Rowling. The novel deals with two worlds, the real and the superstitious world. The book, which was J.K. Rowling's debut novel, was first published on 30 June 1997 by Bloomsbury in London. In 1998, Scholastic Corporation published another edition for the United States market under the name Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The novel starts with the past events. The biggest black wizard Voldemort killed Harry’s parents, James and Lily Potter. Harry was a small child at that age when this incident happened. For some unknown reason Voldemort couldn’t kill little Harry, but due to the spell it left a lightning bolt sharp scar on Harry’s
the story takes place in the time that the book was written, so the late 90 's since modern things like cars in the story, plus nothing implies it might have taken place a longer time ago.
