Progressive ideology in France lead to a rise industrial capabilities throughout Europe, paving the way for imperialism. The French Revolution created progressive ideology which sparking the Industrial Revolution brining advancements in technology that increased the demand for raw material and cheap labor. This essay will compare relationships between three major events examine how Revolutions lead to the expansion of European Imperialism. The French and industrial revolutions created many similar opportunities for the western world; these new opportunities would lead to the expansion of imperialism. Although the duration of each was significantly different these two revolutions, they had many similar results. For example, The French revolution gave more rights to the commoners allowing for social mobility and resulting in the idea that a government should be controlled by people., " In pursuit of liberty and equality, France’s National Assembly implemented the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizens, in 1789 (Perry, 100). Living and working conditions were terrible. Frederick Engels described these conditions in The Conditions of the Working Class in England stating,"... restless and noisy activity of crowded streets is highly distasteful ... the weakest, who are in the vast majority, succumb most abject poverty... poverty is found hidden away in the alleys close to stately homes of wealthy... the streets themselves are usually unpaved and full of holes...[covered ] with animal and vegetable refuse...
