Although interpretation of things varies from people to people, how I interrupted the book of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstien, more focused on how it related to Splice. Frankenstein was created in 1818, which was about scientist Victor Frankenstein, who creates a creature during a science experiment. Vincenzo Natali’s Splice is a 2009 film about genetic engineers Clive Nicoli and Elsa Kast, who hope to achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals to create new hybrid animals for medical use. Frankenstein is a romantic novel about the depths of human emotion and imagination, while Splice is a contemporary science film produced as a modern-day Frankenstein. Elsa and Victor share a similar relationship with their creatures; both become obsessed with creating their creatures and both in a constant battle between science and nature. …show more content…

As Victor gets older, his obsession grows. His interest in science was the reason on why he created his monster. He came to the realization that he could make a creature, a life. While Victor is creating the creature, he becomes obsessed to the point of insanity. As said in the book, he had not visited home in a while, because his focus was more contained by his creation. Eventually, he leaves his creature, and goes back home. In Splice, after being shut down by Newstead Pharma, Clive and Elsa of Splice decided to make their own experiments by blending human DNA with DNA of other animals. Elsa and Clive, work to find the right human DNA that will create better with the animal DNA. With no success Elsa decides puts herself into the equation; later, Dren is created. By Elsa removing her own DNA, using it to fuse with the animal DNA, she completely disregards her principles and lets her personal obsession with the creature
