Similarities Between Finding Dory And Finding Nemo

Finding Dory, the newest Disney Pixar movie and the sequel to Finding Nemo, features our favorite Disney Fish, Dory, Marlin, and Nemo. Dory, a blue tang, and defined by her blue body and yellow stripe, suffers from short term memory loss. She meets Marlin, on his quest to find Nemo, after he gets taken by a scuba diver. Marlin is a clownfish, who is very overprotective over his son Nemo, after the rest of his family was killed. Nemo on the other hand, loves adventure, which comes from his father being overprotective. Dory meets new friends like Destiny, Dory’s old “pipe-pal”, and Hank, an octopus scared of humans on her journey to find her parents.

Finding Dory takes place approximately one year after when Finding Nemo takes place. When Dory joins Nemo and his class on a field trip to the sting ray migration, she gets swept by the undertow and knocked unconscious. As she wakes up, she starts to remember where she lived as a child, “The Marine Life Institute” in California, but more

specifically, “The Open Ocean Museum”. On the adventure there, many moments trigger flashbacks, helping her remember her parent’s names and other clues hintng her toward where her parents are. When she arrives at “The Marine Life Institute”, she gets captured by humans, and taken to the quarantine, leaving Marlin and Nemo behind. When in quarantine, Dory wakes up and meets Hank, the octopus that helps her find where her parents are. Hank helps her get out of captivity, and travel to “The Open Ocean Museum”, but Dory gets sidetracked, and accidently ends up in Destiny the Whale’s food bucket where she gets sent the Destiny’s tank. When she meets Destiny, Destiny automatically recognizes Dory’s voice, as they talked as kids through the pipes.
Meanwhile, as Dory met Destiny, Nemo and Marlin, where trying to find a way to reach Dory again.

At the same time, Hank and Destiny help get Dory to “The Open Ocean Museum” where Dory realizes her parents are not there and all fish similar to Dory are in captivity. She swims through the pipes, where she bumps into Marlin and Nemo, and Destiny leads her through the pipes to quarantine. At quarantine, she meets up with the other Blue Tangs, where she can’t seem to find her parents. The Blue Tangs explain to Dory that her parents are not here, and they think her parents are dead. She panics and gets sent off the dock and into the ocean while the rest of the Blue Tangs and Marlin and Nemo are getting put into a truck. While in the ocean, she calms down, looks around, and makes many realizations like that she likes sand because sand is squishy. This leads her to find sea shells, which helps her remember what her parents told her, “When you’re lost follow the shells

home.”
She finds a little home, and it was at that moment, that two Blue Tangs came behind Dory. It was her parents! She hugged them with joy, telling them all about Nemo and Marlin, when she remembers that Nemo and Marlin are still stuck in the truck. She calls for Destiny and Hank who help her get control of the truck. They drive the truck into the Ocean, and all the fish from quarantine are released into the ocean. Marlin, Nemo, Dory, and her parents return back to the Coral Reef, and return to their old, happy lives.
Finding Dory is a great family movie for the kids and the parents too. I think it ties in very well with Dory’s character traits from Finding Nemo and continues the plotline exceptionally. Also the new old characters brought back mixed with the new characters, make a great story. To me, this movie is one of my top ten’s out of my favorite movies because it has some humor, and is very heartwarming. I enjoyed the movie so much; I decided to write this paper on it. If you have not yet watched Finding Dory, I very much suggest that you watch it and share the great movie with thousands of people all over the country.
