Throughout history, people have anticipated the second coming of Jesus Christ. The last days of time are near according to signs that were prophesied by the Lord. Many books, songs, and articles have been written about the end times. Unfortunately, most people refuse to accept that we are living in the last days. The Bible has forewarned its readers to be on guard at any moment. There are signs of Jesus’ return everywhere which proves that this generation is living in the last days of time. Some of the signs include The Holocaust and the Nazi’s, the rise in natural disasters and the Mark of the Beast, and preachers only preaching good news gospel, the violence of today’s society, and open and flaunted homosexuality.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus asserts: “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places” (Matthew 24:4-7 712). Wars have dramatically increased from 29 in the 15th century to 278 in the 20th century. Famines have grown from 6 in the 15th century to 44 in the 20th century. Also, earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.0 or larger have risen from 2 in the 15th century to 123 in the 20th century. The startling rise of these three signs pointed out by Christ, himself, forewarn that the Rapture is drawing close. One of the most widely recognized references to the coming Rapture is the Mark of the Beast. According to the Bible, “He [The Anti-Christ] causeth all . . . to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name] the Bible does not specify any aspect of this mark other than it be on the right hand or forehead. Considering the technological advances of today’s society, along with the vagueness of the description of the mark, who is to say that it could not
It is rare and fleeting. One possible cause of this is the overwhelming sensitivity of people today. Preachers have to be very careful not to offend members of their church because individuals tend to disregard information that does not please them. According to Christ, “The Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14 712). Churchgoers only care to listen to the good news that the Bible holds, pushing preachers away from hellfire and brimstone. Before our technological advances, the gospel traveled solely through word of mouth. Now, the Gospel is preached all over the world, and delivered through thousands of ministries. Our sensitivity and technological advances are foreseeing these prophecies true. One contributing factor to this refusal to listen to the hard gospel might be the rising presence of bad news and violence in todays society. We are living in the most violent times, though it may not seem so because of desensitization. The perspective on violence has drastically changed due to the simplicity of taking life. The advances in weaponry have changed the act of killing from running a sword through someone to simply squeezing a trigger. The book of 2 Timothy states, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come” (2 Timothy 3 865). Media sites
The 21st century is the age of information and technology and as the human species continues to advance there are growing concerns that the human race is close to its end. Jerry Oltion uses his text Judgment Passed as an allegory for the belief of the Christian salvation and the state of the modern world. In Jerry Oltion’s text planet Earth is depleted, causing humans to send astronauts into space to colonize another planet named Dessica (Oltion). These astronauts are in space for twelve years and when they return to Earth they learn that the end of the world has occurred without them. The astronauts learn through old newspaper articles that Jesus Christ returned to earth and saved everyone. This causes the astronauts to ponder the reason they were not saved like all the people on Earth and the other colonies in space. Throughout Judgment Passed there are metaphors for the Christian belief of what happens after death such as the realm of limbo and then there are the metaphors that are a depiction of today’s world and its possible future such as Jesus Christ representing a hierarchy political figure. Therefore, Judgment Passed is more than a short narrative for entertainment, it is allegory for the Christian belief system and it is a metaphor for the human condition of the modern world.
The extent of the average person’s knowledge of the Antichrist can be summed up as: a mythological satanic person associated with the number 666. An exhaustive study on end times Bible prophecy is beyond the scope of this book, but a brief description of the Antichrist is necessary.
...iew. Jesus clearly states that the fall of Jerusalem will take place within His generation, but this is just the beginning. “All these things” includes the destruction of Jerusalem as a sign of the nearness of parousia. Yet, Jesus sees beyond this day of judgement and wants to instill confidence in believers for the labor pains to come. Because no one knows the day or the hour this is a warning to be ready from both Mark and Jesus. Mark and the first century church had no greater insight and thus would have been possibly expecting Jesus’ return during the destruction of Jerusalem. The event passed, but this just gave the early church greater faith in Christ’s reign as his prophecy was fulfilled and marked the a step towards His return. The nearness of parousia is evident in the language as Jesus calls for both fear and joy in the events of eschatological fulfillment.
In 1981, Graham wrote The Coming Storm, an essay in his book Till Armageddon: A Perspective on Suffering. It rationalized the disillusioning circumstances when he stated that “the theory that the world is getting better and better, and solving its political, economic and social problems is no longer taught with much confidence. We are living in a day of serious turmoil and trouble, and most thinking people to whom I talk forecast that things are going to get worse instead of better.” Although Graham maintained his stance of imminent destruction throughout his life, this was a contrast to the more optimistic world view of what he wrote earlier in 1965 in essay The Flame of Political Dilemma: “I do not believe that all is black and hopeless. There is still time to return to the moral and spiritual principles that made the West great. There is still time for God to
The Book of Revelation and the movie WALL-E serve as distinct forms of apocalyptic literature to expose the reality of the human condition beneath the surface. Even though there are blatant disconnects between the two, they both share common ground as criticisms of society and to warn humanity of its coming judgement. The Book of Revelation and WALL-E offer a frightening yet rectifiable future for humanity by remaining loyal to its “core values”.
When people hear the word Armageddon, a scene of horrific devastation may come to mind. The word holds different meaning for different people. The classical definition of Armageddon form the Bible is from the book of Revelation 16:16 speaks of a final, climactic battle at the time of the Second Coming that is centered at a place in the land of Israel called Armageddon. Because of this, the term Armageddon has come to be used as a shorthand way to label the period of conflict in which the human and spiritual forces of evil on Earth resist Christ as He returns to set up His Millennial Kingdom. (BibleStudy.org, n.d., p. 1) While the contemporary definition is any catastrophically destructive battle as in the first World War was called Armageddon.(WordNet Search , n.d., figure 2) The most wildly accepted definition is that of the Bible but no matter which version you believe in, one thing is for sure. Armageddon is not taken seriously until God shows us just how insignificant we really are.
Most men over the course of history have tried to elevate them self to greatness. Others who have sought no greatness have, became great of no accorded of there own. Looking at the context in each of the eight miracle that Jesus performed, we are looking at a man who was fully God and fully human do, what no other man could. Jesus while on earth established his credentials that, will forever be engraved in time and, eternity.
The fear of the world ending has for a long time, even though the thought isn’t always at the top of our mind nor our biggest problem but it is still a worry that affects many. Whether it's an asteroid hitting earth, a zombie apocalypse, or a killer plague, we often think about what we would do when the world ends. We think about our families and our daily lives taking a turn for the worst. Some people even suffer daily from the fear that the world might end at any second and it's known as the doomsday phobia. Although most of us don’t have the doomsday phobia it is still something that we think about. Most of us think about the end of the world as only a sify movie while there are others preparing for a day that the syfi blockbuster movie

Christian can hope because faith always reaches beyond earthly circumstances. The Christian confidence is in a person, the Jewish Messiah of the believing remnant, the Wisdom of the Greek apologist, the Cosmic King, The Ruler of the World. Jesus is the model of true Evangelism.

The Bible tells us that Jesus will return for all those who have accepted his salvation and are truly Christians. A large group of conservative Christians teach that Christ’s coming will actually take place in two stages. These stages are the rapture of the Church, which simply means that we will be taken away from the earth, and the revelation or Second Coming as prophesied by Jesus himself, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:3). These two events will be separated by the great tribulation, believed to be about seven years in duration. Because it (the rapture) is to precede the tribulation, no prophecy must yet be fulfilled before it can take place, therefore, it is imminent (Erickson,
His understanding is unsearchable.”(Isaiah. 40:28). Secondly, the Kingdom of God is at hand. The Bible states, “…The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mark. 1:15) The Kingdom of God is to be preached and understood that it is not in talk but power, “ For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” (1 Corinthians. 4:20). Lastly, the current church is described and seen as a pro and con in many ways. There are churches who are truthful and follow the freedom of Christ, on the contrary there are churches that exist for man-pleasers and the flesh. The Bible states, “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Matthew. 24:24). Concluding, Christ is still present, very much alive and seen as
Take notice of what the lord himself said in the greatest sermon man has ever heard. Matthew 7:15-23 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of
Back in Abraham’s day, God promised him that he would make a great nation for him. From that promise, two beginnings of messianic prophecy would take shape. One would emphasize the glorious future of the Kingdom of Israel, and the other would speak to the coming work of the Messiah, portraying him not as a reigning king but as a suffering servant who would be slain on behalf of his people.
