Have you ever wondered what life is like beyond earth? Well, I think we should spend our resources on space exploration. My main reason for this is that space exploration as stated in Leaving Main Street. That was my main reason, now here are my other two.
My second reason is if we explore space, it can later help earth as stated in Future of Space Exploration. What I mean by this is if we use or resources right now, we can later find more valuable resources. Therefore, if we use our valuable resources now, we can later find even more valuable things.
My third and final reason adds to my first saying space exploration inspires competition and innovation, stated in Leaving Main Street. This adds on by students getting inspired will be able to
have better chances at getting a job working at NASA. You could argue that space exploration should not be focused on until we explore our own planet first, we've only explored four percent of space and thirty percent of the earth. That other seventy is just ocean and the resources we may find space can help us explore that other seventy percent. With all my claims and counter-claim, In conclusion, this is why we should use our resources on space exploration.
So why venture into space? The obvious reasons will of course be power and money, the two things that have forever ruled the world and will no doubt continue to do so. But what other motives can there be for this extraordinary thirst for exploration?
INTRODUCTION Attention-getter: “Space travel benefits us here on Earth. And we ain’t stopped yet. There’s more exploration to come.” (Nichelle Nichols from Star Trek) Credibility: Throughout our childhood as we study space, solar systems, planets we all come to a point of having the dream of exploring the space or learn more about it in the future.
Have you ever wondered what Earth was like without space exploration? In the story Leaving Main Street the author states, “The United States has more important things to spend money on.” On the other hand some people believe that successful space programs adds to our economy, national prestige, create jobs, and improves national security. We shouldn't spend valuable resources on space exploration, because we could end hunger and poverty.
Specific Purpose Statement: I would like to inform and condense the topic of space exploration into two major branches. These branches are unmanned and manned spaceflight.
This Interview was with Eddy the Eco-Dog and Julie Payette on Kidswebtv and they discussed about astronauts role in space and why we explore space and Julie Payette said that we explore in order to gain knowledge and understanding of our place in this solar system and this universe.18 (see Appendix D for the actual
Being able to send people up into space was an extraordinary influential event for mankind. It told us that there were whole new worlds and concepts out there ready to be explored. The fundamentals of the solar system led us to discover more about the gravitational pull of the sun and other planets, which has helped aid us in launching probes and even setting the course for the International Space Station. Fundamentals like microbial life on Mars and the exotic environments of planets and moons have driven space exploration to a whole new level. In addition, due to space telescopes, we have learned new things that we had never heard nor seen about. The things that we have seen in space like supernovas, the creation of stars, and things like black holes have driven us farther and farther into space. In conclusion, as long as man has curiosity, there will be no end to what we will uncover in space. For this reason, this is why the Space Race was so important. It kicked started a chain of events that will have mankind exploring more of
..., including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies since 1967, alongside the Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space resolution A/55/558. We strongly believe that the exploration of outer space should be held with the likes of Terra Nullis (“land belonging to no one”) in international law. Thus, it is crucial that we treat space and other celestial bodies as a source for intellectual and scientific findings, not the grounds for militaristic advantage and armed conflict. We must delegate on how to prevent states with current technological capabilities for space exploration from abusing that power in the name of “science”. Furthermore, we should work more actively on allowing developing countries the same possibility for outer space achievements, whether through access to outer space research facilities and/or economic assistance to enhance technologies in this field.
It is within man’s blood and nature to explore, and space is our next New World. Man’s first achievement in space travel was the launch of the Sputnik on October 4, 1957. For the next decades, space travel was roaring like a rocket, fueled by man’s desire to explore, man’s desire for knowledge, and man’s desire to beat his enemies. However, these impulses have died out as the well of government funding has been diverted to wars and debts, and the interest of the American people has been diverted to wars and debts. Amidst all these issues it is debated as to whether or not space travel is worth the money and the attention of scientists, particularly since humanity faces so many issues on earth currently. However, because of the past inventions, current services, and future benefits, space travel is indeed worth the money and attention of governments and people. It is within our hands to control man’s advancement, and space travel is the next venue to do so.
As such, this essay will argue that space exploration is a necessity of our kind and that NASA should be progressively more financed. To begin with, space research has helped bring several developments to modern science, affecting the quality of our everyday lives. With issues like climate change, and population overgrowth, our species faces the risks of major extinction (4). Climate change has been a man-made problem in recent years that threatens our planet. It will take huge mitigations from current and future societies to even come close to reversing climate change.
It has always been a part of human nature for a man or woman to be curious of their surroundings. First it was what is beyond those mountains; then what is beyond that ocean, then the sky, under the sea, and in the 50s, 60s, and 70s it was space and the moon. Our ancestors and the early civilizations were strongly focused on explorations and expansion. Even notable historical figures were primarily focused to either expand their empire for increased power and fame like Julius Caesar, or to explore new lands for rich booty or possible colonization like Eric the Red. We are doing nothing out of the ordinary by wanting to explore the vast expanse of space first hand. We are curious what is out there. Is there life? Is there a world out there that can sustain human life? As curious beings, we must at least try to answer these questions. If not for man taking personal initiative to answer the question left before him, we would not have a Columbus or Lewis and Clark. Manned space flights instead of robotic crews bring this human element of curiosity to the table.
The 1960's brought new advancements for all of Earth. Machines and men were sent into space, and this sparked a new government agency, called NASA. Space was a new frontier, and virtually everyone was interested in exploring it. Over the years, the interest in space exploration has weakened, and NASA was almost terminated from existence, although there have been many advancements in it over that time. Space exploration should continue because it could help solve many problems on Earth, such as overpopulation and lack of resources. Exploration of the final frontier must continue in order for human life to continue.
Most people think that the costly downside to funding space exploration is a reason to avoid spending money on sciences and instead spend it on problems here on earth, but such funding for space exploration actually promotes economical as well as scientific benefits. Space exploration is an important expenditure for the high cost because of the potential for numerous benefits such as the possibility to find useful resources to cultivate, space exploration and satellites produce many thousands of jobs in our economy, and it creates and discovers newer and better technologies through research and development.
“Sheltered as we are by Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field, which deflect lethal radiation from space, we are like coddled children who have never ventured into a tough neighborhood” (Folger 2). Humans have been fascinated with space since the beginning of our time. Just like children and rough neighborhoods, we have tackled obstacle over obstacle to make it home again. In the end, we have a better knowledge and strength than before. The future of space exploration can assist us in answering the everlasting question of how the universe came to be. The more we explore the infinite galaxies, the more we can scientifically discover and create new technologies as science advances. As we continue to discover, we can create new fields and occupations for aspiring young students like myself.
First, I would like to talk about all the things we take for granted but, wouldn’t have without space exploration.
Some may think exploring outer space is simply a human’s curiosity. This is true but on the contrary, people explore to learn about things they may have never known and touch on the essence of the creation of the universe. Another reason for exploring this uncharted area is the technological advancements people have made and immense amount of innovation they have achieved in this field (Wood). Lastly, scientists study the other planets just in case one day humans need to relocate after overwhelming damage has been done to Earth. Suffice to say, it is a vital part of today’s day and age to research outer space (Rothery).
