Vending Machines in Schools
Vending machines should be permitted in schools because they can be beneficial for. students who desire a light meal throughout the day. Vending machines are low in cost and are efficient. School lunches or lunches outside the school are more expensive than the food that could be provided in a vending machine. Students are not provided with a great amount of income especially if that income is coming from their parents. When students do not have a packed lunch, or not enough money to buy a school lunch, they are led elsewhere. But students could be led to vending machines whose food choices are on their budget. In addition to this, vending machines can have healthier options than a school’s standard lunch.
Schools with enormous food courts where students can buy meals and drinks from commonly known franchises, such as McDonalds and Coca-Cola, are the schools with the most health problems. Fast-food franchises are showing up everywhere, but do these businesses belong in high schools? No! Schools are here to enlighten students for life after school. If high schools promote bad eating habits by placing fast-food franchises in their cafeterias, then how can students eat right and healthy beyond high school.
Vending machines should be allowed is because it provides snacks , candy , and drinks . I think vending machines should be allowed in school is because if you are hungry you can go up and by one . Also if you didn’t have breakfast you could get something to eat from there. Last it could help the students in school .
Unhealthy foods are what make the money for schools and that is why they serve them for students. (Schlafy) Schools feel like they need the extra money in the budget, even though it is at the student’s expense. Data shows that nearly 60% of all middle schools in the US serve soda from vending machines. (Schlafy) Soda is very high in sugar and is not at all good for children, but it is still sold in school vending machines. The ways food in schools is now are way too high in fats and sugars. This is not good for the children and very bad in the long run. Elementary schoolchildren have an estimated $15 billion of their own money that they can use to buy whatever they want in schools, and parents have almost another $160 billion to give students for food money. (Schlafy) Big businesses see this as a big source of profit and therefore encourage children to buy their products, and want them to be offered in school because of th4e likelihood of children buying the business’s product. All in all, obesity in the US is greatly influenced by the foods offered in schools
Fidget Spinners are the new popular kids toy in homes across the nation. All of the kids want fidget spinners. Everyone is having fun spinning these for hours doing tricks and more. Unfortunately, fidget spinners can be terrible too. The toy was originally intended to help kids especially those with attention disorders focus, but it seems to do the opposite. They are disrupting class, and are injuring hundreds of other kids. Kids should not use fidget spinners because they are dangerous, distracting and they are being misused.
In “Hooked on ‘Caramel-Colored Gold,” Melody Nelson claims “Despite the increased awareness of the benefits of good nutrition, we are a nation hooked on junk food, and many school administrators are taking advantage of the situation ” (par. 3). Nelson propose a ban on vending machines in schools because junk food is unhealthy for children, and they risk future health problems. I agree with Melody Nelson and believe that vending machines should be banned from school campuses, because they sell unhealthy food, they cause more money to schools for hiring extra custodians, and they are affecting children learning abilities.
Fidget spinners are the latest craze in schools across America. Purposed for ADHD and anxiety, the spinners have turned into fun gadgets, being sold out at many 7-Elevens and other retailers. They are not being used for their marketed reasons and are no longer a learning tool but a toy. Fidget spinners should not be allowed in school because they are distracting, used for the wrong purposes, and have caused harm to many children and adults.
To conclude, unhealthy foods in the cafeteria and the vending machines are the worst examples for the kids to maintain the healthy eating habits. Us Parents have to step in to make changes for our kids because in doing so would determine what kind of foods our kids are consuming. We do know for facts they are not getting the proper nutrients while in school, although they do spend in average of eight to 12 hours in schools. We, the parents, can start to make a difference, by attending the school meetings and being active in our kids functions in schools.
Schools should switch to healthier lunch providers. It’s worth the price, even if it may be much more money than the less healthy alternatives. Students don’t eat the garbage they are fed now, and the companies that provide them their food are dishonest and in no way concerned about the students’ health. (“Students”) Healthier lunches have been proven to make students happier, smarter, and nicer. Healthier lunches are an important choice.
There is quite a controversy surrounding the use of tracking badges, on students or otherwise. “Is it security, or spying?” that’s the main question, and it seems that the controversy is postponing the installation of this new technology, yet the problems against the badges are flimsy at best. They should be used in schools, honestly people should try the badges out before they dismiss them as being spy machines. Students should wear tracking badges because they will be less likely to misbehave if they know they’re being tracked, the badges can also help police to find lost kids or kidnaped kids, plus parents won't have to worry about whether or not their child is where they’re supposed to be.
There was a time when school lunch to be amazing and they would give students things like cookies and cupcakes. We even got ice cream sometimes, but now all of that has changed. Over the years, school lunch has gotten healthier and since then, students haven’t been buying lunch as much. From what my surroundings majority of the students don’t eat school lunch, so by making school lunch healthier, they won’t buy lunch as much. The school cafeteria shouldn’t change the lunch menu because more students won’t eat it since it’ll be “tasteless”, they won’t want to try it, and if students don’t eat healthy at home they won’t eat healthy at school
Students will begin to dread coming to school after the new lunch menu is changed. Students will start to pack their lunch and avoid eating school lunch all together. But the people that do not have anything to eat at home will be the ones that will suffer the most. They will have no choice to eat nasty foods that they do not like. This small change will cause significant anger and problems in the lives of many people. The benefits from not having healthy lunches outweigh the benefits of having healthy
Picture this, there has been a school lockdown, the suspect cut the landlines so no one could call the police for a rescue. However, the suspect was captured by the police much faster than he imagined. The last scene wouldn’t have happened if it was one decade ago, because cell phones were not popular in schools then. When it comes to cell phones, some people think they should not be permitted in schools, and other people think they should be permitted in schools. I agree with the latter opinion for the following reasons: Cell phones are an efficient way to communicate when emergencies occur in school; cell phones can be a great tool for learning during school hours; and the current prohibitive rules on cell phones are merely fruitless efforts. Cell phones should be permitted in schools, because they could be very beneficial and practical in schools.
With the blooming development of science and technology, mobile phones have become an indispensable part of life. The increasing number of teenagers who use a cell phone in schools which disrupts classrooms orders has become a major concern. However, mobile phones should not be banned in schools. Actually, it is not necessary to ban mobile phones in schools. Additionally, using mobile phones in schools has some positive influences. Furthermore, it is likewise a human right for students.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
There is no doubt that almost all people in developed country using mobile phones, from teen until old peoples. They are using mobile phones for business communication, keeping contact with family and friends, and even just followed the trends. This essay will focus on using mobile phones in elementary and high schools. There are many disadvantages of using mobile phones in school such as, students use mobile phones for cheating, as well as that can destroy concentration while study in classroom. It also be shown that other electronic devices to facilitate student while study at schools. However, this essay will argue that mobile phones should be banned in schools.
