Would you like to know what your teen goes through or would you like to be in the dark? Many teen girls in the US go through pregnancies. Some girls have miscarriages, others give birth and the rest have abortions. One reason why there should be an age limit is because it is an emotional process for young teens and a parent should be aware of what their child is going through. This is why there should be a parent aware on what their child is doing, and this is why there should also be an age limit on abortions.
Having an abortion is a very emotional process for anyone, especially for a teenage girl. Girls who are younger than 17 are not always matured enough to handle their emotions or this type of situation. Also, a parent should be aware of this process because everyone grieves differently and they would want to know what’s going on in their kids life. “Terminating a pregnancy is often an emotional and complex decision for a woman at any age.” (Pregnancy-Unplanned Pregnancy-About Abortion Article) This sentence in the article about abortion explained that at any age, abortion is very emotional for any age and especially teen girls. Which also goes back to why teen girls should tell their parents about what is going on with them

Due to the fact that pregnancies could happen when a teen has had a traumatic situation that happened, they should let their parent know. “This law bans abortions after 12 weeks if a heartbeat is detected and makes exceptions for pregnancies from rape or incest, or pregnancies that risk the life or physical health of the mother, or when lethal fetal abnormalities exist.” (Momentum for Late-Term Abortion Limits). This evidence shows that abortion clinics band abortion after a 12 week pregnancy, but if a girl got raped or incest, then no matter what the age she is, she is allowed to get an
Teenagers who become mothers have harsh prospects for the future. Teenagers obtaining abortions are 20% and girls under 15 accounts for 1.2%. They are much more likely to leave of school; receive insufficient prenatal care; rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or en...
How can a child make the decision for the life of another child by themselves? In this paper I will outline the mental, physical, and safety issues of minors (age 18 and under) having an abortion and why it is so important that they need to get parental consent before making this life long decision.
First, most adolescents are not mature enough to make decisions that will change their lives forever. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius state, “Some older adolescents have the cognitive ability and capacity to reason similarly to an adult. However, neuroimaging studies have shown that the brain undergoes major reorganization during adolescence, particularly in the regions of the brain relating to executive functions” (qtd. in Christian Med.). In other words, the majority of teens lack maturity and wisdom to make life changing decisions (Christian Med.). In most situations, teens are desperate, and they make choices without thinking about the long- term consequences of their actions. If abortion is hard, enough in a grown woman imaging how it must be in a teenager with no one by her side to counsel and guide her. Imaging how confusing would be the mind of a fourteen years old girl going through an abortion without having her parents to tell her that everything will be fine. How can a fourteen years old girl handle that much stress?
Everyone knows that Abortion is a very controversial subject in the United State. It discusses human interaction where ethics, emotions, and law come together. Everyone knows that babies die of natural causes, but others are killed before they get the chance to experience their first breath. Abortion is fast becoming a quick fix to a rather large responsibility, especially among teenage women. Having sex is a huge responsibility, and if you aren’t ready to handle the consequences, then having sex is not for you, and abortion is not the answer if you do get pregnant.

I am pro-abortion due to my belief that abortions are necessary in many different situations. To understand my opinion on the abortion topic, I believe it is crucial to understand what form of abortion I will be discussing in this essay. I will be using the definition stated in the Oxford Dictionary which states that abortion is “The deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” (Oxford Dictionaries) I personally believe that an abortion should be performed during the first 28 weeks of gestation unless a medical problem presents itself that would put the mother at risk for her life. There are many reasons I believe that abortions should be legal and I will be going over a few reasons
How would you feel if someone decided that you should never get a chance at life? That
Abortion is a major debate in society today and has been an impassioned topic for decades. At issue is whether or not abortion should be permissible. Generally I support the idea of abortion given specific circumstances. If a woman becomes pregnant due to rape, she has no moral obligation to carry the baby to full term. It is a gross expectation for society to think a woman should give birth to a baby conceived from rape and to take care of the child as her own. In this discussion I will argue that abortion is permissible if the mother was a victim of rape.
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of a fetus or embryo from the uterus before viability (dictionary.com). Those who disagree with abortion think that this is not right, mid evil and a form of murder. All of those thoughts are correct; abortion is the act of removing a fetus from the protection of the mother’s uterus. However, is it not the duty of the mother to protect her unborn child? In this day in age, we are still allowing this barbaric method of ending a pregnancy to happen despite the many alternatives. If an unexpected pregnancy should occur, abortion should not the only option. There are many reasons why abortion should not be illegal in all parts of the world, and people need to know the options available. Adoption is certainly a strong option in a world wanting for children. Abortion is not a method of birth control and people need to be educated on pregnancy prevention and take on some responsibilities.
In America, one million teenagers get pregnant every year (National Abortion Federation, 2003). Of these pregnancies, 78% are unplanned because these teenagers start having sex at a very young age and are unaware of ways to prevent pregnancies. Thirty five percent of the pregnant teenagers chose to abort, as they fear that the consequences of the pregnancy might cause significant effects to their lives. The problems that come with teenage pregnancies include dropping out of school, receiving inadequate prenatal care, developing health problems, relying on public assistance to raise a child, and probably divorcing their partners. In most states, the law allows pregnant teenagers to take their babies for adoption without consulting their parents. The same laws allow the teenagers to have an abortion but require parental notification or consent before carrying out the procedure. These laws prove biased as they favor one resolution over the other, as they force some to bear babies they do not want by restricting their options.
Why should any woman be denied the choice to do what she wants with her own body? Women should have the control to decide what is best for their own body without the interference of the government’s laws. Making abortion legal can save and protect the lives of the pregnant woman and unborn fetus. The abortion procedure can help a woman’s life by saving her from financial stress, difficult responsibilities, risky health concerns, emotional disturbances and it also corresponds with the law . The procedure helps the unborn fetus by preventing an irregular health, emotional, and social development.
Is abortion right or wrong? I believe that abortion is neither totally right nor wrong. I do believe that teenagers should be able to have abortions without parent’s permission but, the parents should be informed because it’s a medical procedure. Teenagers should be able to have abortions because there only children themselves, they haven’t even grown up so how would they be able to take care of a child? Not only will it be difficult to care for a child, but their choices will be limited when the baby is born. Teens 16 to 19 were three and one-half times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape or sexually assaulted which leads to my third reason why teenagers should be able to have abortions. Teenagers should absolutely be able to have an abortion if they are raped it’s un-fair to force a victim to have her attackers child.
In society today, teens are taught by the television and the media that pre-marital sex is not a bad thing. This problem is leading to many teenage pregnancies, that then lead to abortion. All over the world teens are faced with many challenges in their everyday lives. Sex is being portrayed as extremely appealing in the media, but what they don't show is the pregnancies and the unborn child that never asked to be created in the first place that is being discarded. Abortion is in no way acceptable, it is murder of an unborn child.
Teenage girls are ten times more likely to attempt suicide if they have had an abortion in the last six months. Most young mothers who abort are more likely to develop psychological problems and a clinical depression problem. In a study of teenage abortion patients, half of them suffered a horrifying psychosocial functioning within 7 months after the abortion. The immediate impact appeared to be greater on the patients who were under 17 years of age than for those with previous psychosocial problems. Symptoms included: self-reproach, depression, social regression, withdrawal, obsession with need to become pregnant again, and hasty marriages. Usually most teen mothers place their child up for adoption. Some place their child up for adoption because they know that they do not quite have what it takes to shape a child in a stable environment so they give others the opportunity to give the child a better living because they also maybe lacking
Abortion is an extremely controversial issue and one that is continually on the forefront of debates. Those who oppose the idea (Pro-lifers), thinks it is an act of woman playing “God” who live from who dies. Yet, whether an unborn baby constitutes a normal person is questionable; a pregnant woman, on the other hand, has the undeniable right to choose whether she wants to have a child or not. Therefore, the decision to have an abortion is the personal choice and responsibility of the woman, because prohibiting abortion impedes freedom of choice and endangers the physical and mental health of women.
