If society could imagine a place where students do not think school is a prison, they would notice students actually want to attend school every day. The answer to this problem is simply a dog in schools. Therapy dogs must be allowed in high schools to make school a better place for students and teachers. In high schools around the country, there has been two major problems, a growth of teenage suicides, and students skipping class, which results in dropping grades. On the other hand, parents and teachers fear too many students might have allergies to dogs, but to avoid that issue, the therapy dog will be a breed of dog like a goldendoodle that is non-allergenic. The solution to these problems would be to allow a therapy dog to enter schools.
Would you rather have a plan old dog or a pitbull as a pet? Pitbulls should be allowed as pets. Pitbulls are a model for pride, working dogs, and guardians.
Some medical professionals do not believe that mental health patients can benefit from therapy dogs and go as far as saying it is a risk far as to say that it is a to the patient and compromise the patients ability to take care of the dog. When people who suffer with mental health issues qualify to get a therapy dog. The mental health patient is tested to see if they are capable of taking care of the dog. Those in need of assistance should use therapy dogs frequently do to the part of the benefits to using these pets to improve mental and emotional health as and physical health. Therapy dogs are beneficial to people who suffer from mental health issues by providing companionship as well as support. The main reason why people should accept these dogs in school, is because the Americans with Disabilities Act, ADA, is an act that includes a part where dogs who are trained to help people with disabilities, are allowed into public spaces. School is considered a public space and the ADA considers service animals as important tools for people with disabilities.
In 1961, Dr. Boris Levinson, a child psychologist, became the “accidental” pioneer for animal therapy. One day he left his dog, Jingles, alone with one of his young, uncommunicative patients. When Dr. Levinson came back, the child was smiling and talking to the dog (Altschiller 3). This just shows how quick and monumental the effect of an animal can be. He believed that therapy animals provided, “unconditional acceptance and love” and they offered “a secure and warm environment for children and other patients, increasing their ability to adapt better psychologically to other people”...
I have read lots of articles, and i have come to the conclusion that Pit Bulls should be allowed as pets. Some reasons are that first of all they were here before US as HUMANS! And a pitbull once saved an entire army platoon from a gas attack! How many dogs have done that.
Dogs can carry out multiple tasks which prove they are a large asset in fields in which man can possess flaw and error that can be unforgiving and not to mention deadly. For decades dogs have been aiding in the works of keeping crime low, prevent terrorism, detecting explosives and patrolling for drugs and narcotics that can be dangerous to others and to please humans more than any other animal. Dogs can contribute greatly in the health and safety of our nation.
Pet Therapy A bus carrying several clinical students from the local college pulls up in front of the nursing home. The students begin to unload some boxes which contain puppies and kittens ranging in age from three to six months. Once inside, the students begin to pass the puppies and kittens out to the patients that are waiting expectantly in the recreation room. Some patients are alone, some are in groups, but all are delighted to see the animals arrive.
As stressful as school is for college students, most agree that they should be allowed to have pets in their dorm rooms. When the argument comes up that pets should be allowed in the dorm room, that does not mean that students only want to be able to have a pet fish. Most colleges now only allow aquatic animals such as fish and turtles and they even have to be in a certain size aquarium tank. Many would agree that when they come back from a very stressful, hard working day at school they would like to be able to cuddle up next to their pup. It is a known fact that dogs, and other furry pets, relieve stress and anxiety, they’re fun, they brighten people’s mood, and they also teach responsibility. So the question here is, should pets be allowed
Dogs are friendly and protective animals that are obediant to thier owners. Dogs love attention and being pampered by thier owners. Dogs must be fed and taken outside to urinate or to poop. So, this why bringing an pet of any sort to work is most certainly a no for me.
Dogs are not pets to most of us, more so, they are family. But, just like family, they should be kept separate from the work environment. Some people may think bringing your dog to work would be a job perk, but it brings more problems than relief. There would have to be more maintenance needed in the work facilities, other employees or customers may feel unsafe, and employees would have to watch their dog while on the job.
A little town in New Orleans became national news when a disabled child learned her therapy dog Zeus, was going to be taken away because of breed-specific laws her local community decided to adopt. According to Dominique Mosbergen with the Huffington Post, Moreauville decided to adopt this ordinance because towns’ people were complaining about dogs running loose in local neighborhoods. Zeus was targeted simply because he is a pit bull. Not because he was running loose or acted out in any way. Unfortunately, this story among many is due to the media portraying some dog breeds as vicious in connection with reports of injuries inflicted upon humans.
Dog training has changed in technique throughout the years in addition to the importance of a well-trained dog. Many dog trainers, at least new ones, can be short tempered, which causes them to have issues with their dogs which can lead to abandonment. There are two main techniques in dog training, rewarding good behavior and disciplining bad behavior. There have been many studies suggesting a correlation between the actions of the owners reflect the behaviors of the dog. However, disciplining bad behavior is still a strong technique in the dog trainer community. By rewarding good behavior, it changes the dog, so a better relationship with a dog and its owner is possible.
The author, Dwyer, concluded that “the relationship an owner has with their dog is multidimensional and comprises various positive and negative dimensions, such as the degree to which an owner 1) feels emotionally close to their dog/s, 2) engages in activities with their dog/s, and 3) believes that there are various costs associated with dog ownership” (253). In his article, Dwyer puts his whole work into three very important behaviors and he implores that every owner reflect on such behaviors when participating in ownership. I extol Dwyer for publishing his work for all to understand because if misunderstood or poorly executed than that ownership could become irresponsible. Dwyer attempts to bring the modern world into consideration by incorporating the need for emotion, time commitment, and financial awareness. I believe that more than likely the student will become emotionally attached to the dog but that being the first step I must emphasize that loving something does not always mean its right. If you begin to misappropriate your time between doing activities with your dog and time being spent on school than either the dog or the owner will have to face an extreme impact on their lives. Schoolwork requires time and so does the dog, one will get the greater bias.
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form of medical treatment.
Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are loyal, dependable companions if given the opportunity. In recent years I have come to the opinion that we could learn something from these animals. We should also take a look at the manner in which they are being treated. Abandonment, irresponsible breeding, and neglect are only some of the ways that humans are failing the canine species.
