Rough draft Adults can smoke, but that doesn’t mean that they should. Should teens be allowed to smoke? They shouldn’t be allowed, for many reasons. Like health reasons and it is expensive. Another reason is that it is unattractive. The first reason that teens shouldn’t be allowed to smoke is that it is expensive. If a teen wanted to buy a videogame, he/she wouldn’t be able to since they spent all their money on cigarettes. If you smoke, you also have to worry about buying new clothes because you can burn your old clothes with cigarettes. If you need any kind of supplies you wouldn’t be able to buy it. An example is school supplies. The second reason that teens shouldn’t be able to smoke is that it is bad for your health. It is a leading cause
Although there are many cigarette advertisements that have been banned, tobacco companies continue to find ways to lure teenagers into buying cigarettes. By starting campaigns to encourage young teenagers to not smoke and giving them advice to make better decisions, it will increase their mental stability to believe that smoking cigarettes is a bad habit. Now, it is up to our young teenagers to make the right choice and not allow tobacco companies to manipulate them.
Cigarette contains different poisonous ingredients, and nicotine is the one that creates addiction and leads to different diseases. Smoking cigarette is one of the worst problems our world is facing and the main reason for this term to be stressful is its consequence. Cigarette can cause different diseases that can directly or indirectly lead to death; “tobacco use is responsible for nearly 1 in 5 deaths in the united states” (cigarette smoking). Most of the time this consequence highly exists on young smokers or victims can be affected by the consequence because they started smoking young. In the United States 18 is the legal age for smoking cigarette and people are still using this law, but it is now the right time for a change because young citizens were affected a lot as a result of early age smoking. Instead of setting the age limit of smoking cigarette 18, we have to raise it to 21 because of the responsibility, Health issue, and since the alcohol drinking and marijuana smoking age Is 21, we have to use the same age limit for smoking cigarette.

Smoking is a lifestyle, a habit, and a trend. Smoking has become a social activity among teens, connecting them through the craving of a smoke. Smoking is seen as seductive and cool in the media and movies which influences teenagers to smoke even more. The World Health Organization has stated that “Tobacco kills around 6 million people each year. More than 5 million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while more than 600,000 are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.” As of April 2016, only 7% of teenagers in the U.S. smoke, but it is said that tobacco use will kill 8 million people annually by 2030. 99% of adult smokers start in their years as teenagers. Smoking is an epidemic that has taken control of people’s lives since 1881 and the media since the early 1900s. Smoking currently kills about 440,000 people a year in the U.S. I feel that it is an issue because it is the #1 most preventable way to die, but people still continue to smoke because of how it looks and how they are perceived as a person if they do. The fact that people become addicted to a trend that will attribute to their death for the sake of being thought of as cooler, is a problem that needs to be addressed.
Did you know that in 2011 there were more than 6 million tobacco caused deaths worldwide (Henningfield)? Smoking is the act of inhaling and exhaling the fumes of burning plant material. Because there is nicotine in cigarettes, they are highly addictive. Cigarettes are one of the worlds most devastating causes of death and disease (Henningfield). There are many negative effects from secondhand smoking, both immediately and over time. Smoking also affects the environment indoors negatively. Also, when pregnant woman or parents of young children smoke, they could harm their children. People should not smoke with others around because they are exposed to harmful chemicals and they are not the one putting themselves in danger.
Through public education, most elementary school kids can understand that smoking is bad for them and that cigarettes are additive. Cigarettes are addictive due to nicotine, a drug found in tobacco (“Quitting Smoking”, 2015). According to Schneider (2016), some of the greatest health problems associated with smoking include: lung cancer, other cancers, coronary heart disease, other heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, other vascular disease, diabetes mellitus, pneumonia, influenza, tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), prenatal conditions, and sudden infant death syndrome. " So in my opinion, teen smoking is a symbol of young people's ability to make their own choices, even if those choices are not always good ones. It really simple to just listen to your parents and do what they tell you to do, but make your own choices without letting your parents know, is "cool" for most teens nowadays, when it's really not.
A 2001 survey found that 69.4 percent of teenage smokers reported never being asked for proof of age when buying cigarettes in a store. The same survey found that 62.4 percent were allowed to buy cigarettes even when the retailer was aware they were under eighteen. Cigarette smoking is very harmful to both smokers, non- smokers and the environment. People who smoke just show how inconsiderate they are towards others. Even the people who do not smoke in public places are selfish.
How many of you know what social media is? I bet I’ll get “duh” looks by saying this because majority of the people know what social media is. How many of you have at least 3 social media accounts? Again, majority of us can relate to this also. Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter are all popular social media sites.
The average babysitting age for multiple kids and parents is thirteen. Many babysitters are around the age of thirteen or forteen. Thirtneen year olds are old enough to babysit because they are mature and also the minimum recommended age for babysitting is thirteen. Saying that, it is ok for thirteen year olds to babysit. Therefore, young teenagers should be allowed to babysit. What do you think?
Smoking is one of the leading killers in North America and innocent. people shouldn't die because of it. For years people have been smoking. in public thinking, "It's my body, I can do whatever I want to do." now that it has been proven that smoking not only harms the smoker.
In recent years, smoking has started to take over the lives of many teenagers. The number of teenagers smoking has increased dramatically in the last several years. This is a major problem because smoking can lead to sickness and major diseases that can lead to death. Teens tend to participate in this while out of the presence of an adult figure. Although teens should not be smoking in the first place, an adult figure should be around to help insure that their children are doing the right things, even when they are behind sealed doors with their peers. Teenagers as they mature become a model for younger children and when they set the example of smoking can ruin their respectable image to the children that look up to them.
Smoking is not only bad for health it is also as bad for the people
of change, growth, exploration and evaluation of future values. Many young people today become a victim to peer pressure. Smoking can be used as a key behavior needed for a person to become a member of a certain peer group. Young people want to be accepted and many times will do whatever they have to do to become part of crowd. Teen Smoking Teen smoking. Those two words mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. To some it means nothing. They are just two meaningless words found under T and S in the dictionary. To others it is as if these words symbolize some sort of treason or crime against society. Yet to others it is just another stereotype to be placed under. And to some it is a salvation. An escape. Unfortunately I am writing this paper so you will get my positions on teen smoking rather than other peoples. Teen smoking gathers a lot of emotions when I think about it. It makes me very angry sometimes. My first draft of this was good but I saw myself getting angry and lashing out on everyone, so I revised it. But enough of that, I find teen smoking to be a very controversial subject. To be completely honest with you I am smoking right now as I am writing this. Obviously I am a smoker. I am 17 years old and I am a smoker. In the late 1990’s, the statistics showed that approximately 25% of teens smoke. That’s one out of every four teenagers. High school is a tough time for teens. These years are critical to a teens future. This explains why a vast majority of smokers start at 16 years or younger with the most common age being 14 years old(freshman). It has also been proven also that teens who score lower in school smoke more than higher scoring students do. It seems that everyone smokes in our school. Our school is overrun with smokers. It is right now at least 50% smokers and 65% if you count the people who will smoke before their high school career is up. We practically encourage it. I mean Fireman’s Field practically condones teen smoking. Teen smoking is defiantly a problem in our school, as well as schools all over the United States. I feel that teen smoking is a huge problem. I feel that too many teenagers smoke cigarettes. It is something that needs to get dealt with. But before I get into that I should probably start with the causes of teen smoking. There are several factors that start teens on smoking cigarettes. There has to be considering that over 1 million new teenagers will start smoking annually. The most common is peer pressure.
