Should Students Be Paid For Good Grades?
Many children may have asked this question, “Why do we go to school?” Parents may respond with a common answer, “It’s because going to school is your job until you find a real one!” The youth in general would reply. “Then why don’t us students get paid for it?” If school is a job for kids, why won’t they have income from it? Paying kids for grades is a great choice since it helps kids feel motivated, prepares them for the future/ long run, and helps their grades rise up.
Conversely, paying kids for good grade motivates kids. As stated by Ginger Ninja, “Pay motivates children in the short term.” This leads to kids actually spending time on homework instead of slacking off. Since the kids earn money, they’ll understand to do work for rewards. This also leads to kids doing their work more. Pay can also help in the long term. Clearly paying kids for good grades can motivate them.

Also from Ginger Ninja, “In addition, paying students for grades also prepares the for the real world.” Ginger Ninja also states, “ It can also help them learn how to enjoy frustrating activities like jobs.” The effect of this is that kids will be prepared when they have jobs. This also helps kids do their jobs the right way. Kids can also become outstanding business workers since they can become better with money. Summarizing this, paying money for grades prepares kids in the long
Did you know that schools in some places are actually giving kids money for good grades? If schools wish students to be self-motivated and have a desire for learning because it’s valuable to them, then schools should not pay students for excellent grades. Paying students for good grades can lead to kids having pressure to earn good grades. In addition, the students who are payed will not succeed academically in the long run. Also, they are not self-motivated so when they are not getting paid they will stop trying. From pressuring to get good grades, not succeeding academically in the long run, and not having self-motivation, there are several negative effects of paying students for marvelous grades.
First off, the reason why students should get paid for having good grades is that it takes a lot of time and effort to get those grades. For many students it takes many hours of late night studying and constantly going over flashcards to achieve the elusive 4.0 GPA. Shouldn’t these students be compensated for all of their hard work. Many people would say that the students are expected to do this and should not be rewarded but as we all know very few students actually try to put in this kind of work and shouldn’t those who try the hardest receive a little
In many ways this is true because without them getting anything in return, there is nothing that provides the person into doing it. Money stimulates children to work hard in school because they will want to do the best they can so they get the best result possible, and at the end, get rewarded not just with the money, but with a better possibility of doing well in the future. About 75% of students don't like trying hard in school because they feel like they aren't getting anywhere and that it is just a waste if their time. The money will encourage kids to work hard, and they will then realize that school is not as bad as they think. Lastly, kids will learn that work actually pays off. They will realize that when you work hard and put effort, you will always get something good back in return. This will get them ready for the future because they will know from experience that you do get rewarded for your effort. As you can see, people usually work harder when their is something in return, and the money will encourage students to commit to their
“Why can’t I make money for going to school? ” That’s a common complaint from most students. However, in my opinion students shouldn’t be paid for school. Students shouldn’t be paid for grades, because it weakens their natural enthusiasm for learning and more. First of all, it will give kids a lower academic performance in the long run. Second of all, it’s artificial learning to offer unrelated incentive. And third of all, the child’s enthusiasm is dampened. By giving students lower academic performances in the long run, offering unrelated incentive, and dampening their natural enthusiasm are the main reasons that we shouldn’t pay students for grades.
By paying them, they would learn many valuable lessons that will help them in the future. Students should be paid for good grades because it encourages them to work harder, it helps the economy and last but not least, it will allows students to gain more responsibility and would increase their self-esteem. Some responsibilities would include taking care of their own belongings and learning to spend money when it is only needed. Obviously, being paid for good grades will give a brighter future to students and they will always be confident in themselves at whatever they
According to PBS News Hour, even if students receive their rewards, there are moments where their parents take the reward away from them, which would leave them with disappointment. Additionally, let’s say a student put all their hard work for an assignment to get the reward (money) but to find out, they only got a ‘C’ as their grade. The effect of this can simply decrease their motivation for school and leave them in despair. To sum it up, if students were to get paid for grades, it will then again, leave them with frustration for not getting the desired grades or rewards.
Students should be paid for having good grades. According to Psychology Today the United States has fallen behind other nations in education. In addition to this, approximately every one in four students in the U.S. drops out of school before graduation. The main reason for this is that students have little to no motivation. Students are either bored by school, or they are distracted by the other things that go on in their lives such as sports, jobs, friends and their own family life. Although learning has its own rewards, some students respond better to money. This essay explains how students will be paid and the reasons that they should receive money for getting good grades. Some reasons that students should be paid are: if students received rewards for having good grades fewer students would drop out, graduates would be better educated, people would seek higher education, less crime would be committed, less people would rely on the government and graduates would be more qualified for better jobs.
One of the main reasons to paying students is that it might help the people that are having trouble stay in school. In the article “should you bribe your kids to get good grades”. In paragraph 13 it said that “it could be a way to get them a jump-start to get them to try a little bit harder”. Someday i do not want to come to school but if i knew i was going to get paid for grades i would be up here all day. Some schools or parents don't think kid or students should get paid. They think they should be able to do it without getting paid. But i still believe that whatever u have to do to keep your kids in school is a good idea. Paying student helps them stay in school.
In conclusion, students should be paid to do well in school because it has many benefits to the student. Those benefits include motivation to get good grades, the money would help the student financially, and the student would learn how to manage their money more effectively. School is a big part of every person’s life, so it should be more rewarding to the
Have you ever been in dire need of money when going to school? Schools should pay students to get good grades and go to class because some students don’t have enough money at home, and It helps teach students to save money and properly use it. The payments also help students by showing them how getting a real job would be, by paying them they get used to getting paid for work and My first point being that Poorer family's would also benefit from this secondary or third source of income and the student would get a good reason to get educated instead of going straight to a job. This could also help the economy.
Other research states that in the long run, students who weren’t motivated with money had higher academic performance scores anyway. Students should not be paid money for good grades because they are naturally motivated, the good grade should be a reward in itself, and in the end, the students who aren't motivated with a cash incentive had better academic scores. To begin, students should not be paid for good grades because they are, by nature, motivated to learn. From an article on ‘greatschools.org’ was a quote stating that children don’t need a cash incentive because they are naturally motivated. The evidential quote states,
Also, there aren’t many scholarships for every kid who wants one. When deciding on paying kids with good grades, the most important factors to consider are kids can save up money for college and students will focus only on school. First reason why students should get payed for having good grades is that it motivates them. A large numbers of school tested out paying students for having good grades and in results, reading and math scores go up to 40 percentage points (Samzenpus). A lot of students drop out of school because of their job.
My first reason why I think that students should get paid for good grades is because they will be more excited to learn. A known fact about children is that they will work harder at a task if a reward is involved. You know how when you were a kid and something you didn’t want to do came up? Then you ended up doing it because a couple of dollars were put up on the table? This is usually the case when it comes to kids.
If students were paid for grades, there would be less money for field trips and other school activities. Many of these students aren’t on track to graduate from high school, much less go on to college. New York City’s Spark program (now in its second year), awards fourth- and seventh-graders cash for high achievement on a series of math and reading tests throughout the year. A fourth-grader can earn up to $250 a year, while a seventh-grader can earn up to $500 (Greatschools Staff,
The students learn to work hard to earn something. Some may argue that students should not get paid for good grades. Students should get paid for earning good grades because of these following facts I found. Getting paid for good grades motivates students to work hard. A lack in motivation and not wanting to work has kids failing classes now a days.
