Should School Sports be Mandatory? You see kids in gym class that don’t even know how to dribble a basketball. Why? Because they don’t play school sports! Kids these days spend too much time inside playing video games or on their phones, when it is a beautiful day outside! This is why school sports should be mandatory. One reason that school sports should be mandatory is the students will learn to work together. Most sports, such as basketball or softball, require multiple people yplaying on a field or court. This means that the teammates have to work together. If the teammates didn’t work together, the team would get nowhere. It would also make us more supportive to those around us. When a teammate does something good, you should applaud them
After reading " The Case Against High School Sports" by Amanda Ripley started to make me think. There were many strong points about how the priorities of the sports are beginning to be more important to students than their education. Another great point was that the financing and budgeting is unfairly distributed throughout school districts and is spent more on athletics and clubs and not enough on classes. And I Believe that schools should put certain restrictions on the spending and promoting or in school sports and clubs because of the major drop in national and world comparisons.
Sports are a crucial part of an individual 's character. Counter arguments made against having sports at schools are getting more and more public. The arguments make people, think again about having students play sports. Sports are useful because they give players skills they can use on and off the field: strength, leadership, and confidence.
They don't think about paying for the sport they are going to play. This can make students second-guess themselves about playing and make them not want to play their sport. Schools should want more and more students to play sports. These reasons are terrible for students to stay in active and not play any sports. “Taxpayers are saying, ‘Let’s get rid of sports. We don’t have to pay for them,’ School boards are saying ‘Hey, it’s not mandatory to offer these programs.’ What we’re saying is, ‘Well, we still have something to offer that is very important in this country.’” (Popke, 2007, p. xx). Sports teach to students a lot in their life, it's a great deal of responsibility. So when students aren't playing sports they can be missing out on important lessons in their life. “While these programs are important to the students’ educational growth, the bills inevitably add up.”(Cerling & Herman, 2007, p.
My first reason is schools should not get rid of sports because private and club sports are too expensive for most families. According to the scholastic news magazine, “Should Schools Get Rid of Sports” it states, “If we cut back school sports, some kids will find themselves shut out of sports completely. Yes, club sports-that is, private leagues outside of school-would be an option for some, but fees, equipment, and travel

First of all high school sports are not beneficial because it puts too much stress on the kids because they want to make their parents happy and want to keep their grades up or if they don’t they could get cut from the team . The pressure from the parents is sometimes too much. According to KCRA.com this statement is important because it highlights that they have to worry about not getting dropped from the team because they have to make sure grades are staying up and then they have to worry about their practice and being a valuable player on the team. According to helpguide.org this could lead to, a lot of stress and that could be bad for the student because they might get health
Youth sports are a very important part of a child’s development. Youth sports allows kids to grow as a people and to learn important life lessons. Youth sports also allow kids to interact with people as well as work together with others as a unit to achieve a goal. However, kids are being forced, and pushed in sports at too young of an age by their parents. The number of kids who play youth sports is at an all time low in the country, and parents are a major cause of the problem. In the U.S. by age 15, 80 percent of children who play a sport quit the sport (Atkinson). Kids are being pushed too hard at a young age; children are also being forced by their parents to “specialize” in a single sport in a hope for the child to become a professional
Some schools force students to participate in organized school sports. However, I believe that schools should not make this a requirement. Some students may have medical conditions, family situations that don't allow them to participate in organized school sports, or they simply may not have the time.
Sports are the downgrade of society and should be ultimately removed. We would like to propose the removal of sports at our school. Sports distract people from school, cause serious injuries, and give kids false hope of college scholarships. If we don’t remove sports from our school it could cause our future generation to not be able to obtain a proper education and be successful in their future. If we don’t take sports out of our school, then there will be more problems with our kids health and their lives.
The purpose of my proposal is to request that physical education be made mandatory at Salida Elementary school. Children are not getting an adequate amount of activity during the school year. Obesity in children is on the rise in the United States. Therefore, we need to teach children how to make healthier decisions while they are young so they will have the tools to live a healthy lifestyle.
Every year, there are 1,000 parents restricting their kids by not letting them play football. Football is currently the most watched and played sport in the United States. Many parents don’t want their kids to play this sport though, because of the high risk of injury. Common injuries parents worry about are concussions, also, parents think there are no benefits from football.
Over the past decades our culture has changes dramatically. To which our nation was once a physically active nation. Yet now it seems that society discourages physical activity. The human race has been dependent on automobiles, discouraging people to walk or bike, increasing the chance of a poor life-style. Yet there are many factors that affect the achievement and maintenance of a healthy life. Young people are growing into a diverse society, which is characterized by rapid change, inactive work and leisure practices that influence unhealthy behaviors. By incorporating physical activity into peoples daily routine will increase their chances of being healthier, reducing certain diseases and learning how to avoid injuries. Physical education helps students improve their knowledge about health issues and practices that will lead to a more enjoyable life. Students playing and working in a team together develop social skills, teamwork, achieving goals, and development of self-esteem. Overall physical education provides the potential for a better life style.
“Patriotism” by Yukio Mishima is a story about a man who is faced with a moral dilemma only he has the decision of making. Lieutenant Shinji Takeyama is faced with an unappeasable decision, Shinji can go with his fellow comrades to dethrone his emperor, or go against his emperor who he is very loyal to. What would you do? This leads to the central idea that when you are loyal to both your fellow comrades, but as well as your emperor what do you do, now Shinji is forced to make a deadly course of direction and die an honorable death widely known as “seppuku” in Japan. Also he just recently married a woman named Reiko who he was profoundly in love with.
Sport at school should NOT be compulsory. Sports training and PE take up time that could be better spent learning other subjects, and PE and Sport are not as important as other subjects like maths, science etc. It is also my belief that it students should have the right to choose whether or not we do sport/PE, because we are allowed to choose the subjects that are more important, so why are we not allowed to choose whether or not we do sport?Every year in PE, we do the same sports and the same practice drills, so after year 7, there is no point continuing to do PE, because the you are just doing the same things that you have done in previous years. 2 periods per cycle are spent on PE, 2 periods which could be spent on subjects like foreign languages, which are only allocated 4 periods per cycle or English or Science, which get 5 periods per cycle.
Organized sports help keep teens out of trouble, give them an opportunity to meet positive influences, provide an opportunity to develop a higher self-esteem, and enables students to set goals. Staying with sports through school helps teens stay on the right track. Students should be interested in their sport and enjoy participating and always should try to have fun!
