In Town Quads Quads need to be allowed in town. There are a lot of underage kids that enjoy driving quads for transportation. It also helps kids learn responsibility by using their own money for the gas and equipment. First of all some kids have parents that will not take them somewhere because they don’t have time or they don’t want to. People might own a quad and not a car, but due to quads not being allowed to be driven in city limits they have to have a friend pick them up or get what they needed. Not everyone wants help. Some people like doing things on their own. Truly it is not fair for those who are less fortunate and do not own a car or a bike, because then they have literally no transportation. Quads are easy-to-use transportation.
In order to operate a motor vehicle, you must be 16, by this age the driver should be responsible enough to make right decisions. Yet drivers make poor decisions, they do not take into consideration the bans and law prohibiting them to text behind the wheel. In 2009, Car and Driver preformed an experiment showing that texting while driving is more dangerous than being intoxicated behind the wheel. Texting bans have been proven to be lasting only a short time. People will react to a ban, but soon after will fall right back to their habits behind the wheel.
The United States has found that there is approximately 13 million illegal immigrants residing within its borders and that number is predicted to rise with the years to come. Although there is no definite number; there is a great chance that more than half of these 13 million illegal immigrants drive illegally in the United States. This means that there are more than six million drivers on the roads who are not educated on American traffic laws, who are not registered on the government database, and who have no insurance to cover their accidents. On top of that, if pulled over, law enforcement has the ability to immediately deport these immigrants if they do not provide proper paperwork. It is a known fact that people from all over the world immigrate to the United States in search of the American dream. This is the land of opportunity and no matter how much this country denies it; it needs the labor of illegal immigrants to prosper. In order to create a safer America, illegal immigrants should be allowed to obtain a driver’s license because it forces them to be insured, it stops them from being deported when pulled over, and it assists them in contributing to the prosperity of the United States.
As skateboarding evolved, it was once something kids do in their free time, later became a prospering sport. This started many new changes to our local cities. “No skateboarding” signs are being posted places that skateboarders would go to practice. Architects are finding new ways to redesign structures like benches and handrails in the city, in order to lower the abundance of skateboarder in an area. All these changes have resulted in a good amount of money spent redoing everything to prevent skateboarding, but nothing is being done to give skateboarders a safe place to skate. For young teens whose only transportation is a skateboard, they can only travel so far, and skateparks are not close enough. To eliminate the amount of skateboarders in heavily populated areas, I propose that cities invest more money into building skateparks so skateboarders have a safe place to practice the sport.
In other states, laws for drunk driving do help their roads to be safer. Montana should follow suit with the laws in
There are many stereotypes that skateboarding and biking and while some of the stereotypes are positive there are a vast majority of stereotypes that are negative and misleading. The negative usually slander the name of the sport and say that it promotes crime being the most prevalent of all of them. It is said that skateboarding and biking promote a negative lifestyle and lead kids into crimes such as: graffiti, smoking, sex, unlawful use of property, trespassing, bullying, and breaking and entering just to name a few. This being said it would be a necessity for a skatepark in a community to promote less crime in that area and give the people of the sport a place to ride without being slandered and abiding by the laws by having a place to do the sport. The reason why a rider may trespass is because that spot has the best what is called “line” where they would do a series of tricks in that area and put it together in a string. Some if not many of the time the rider is not even aware that he or she is trespassing until somebody comes out and yells at them or law enforcement becomes involved. These stereotypes should be put to the test and stopped as popular studies have shown th...
...onents should be happy to have the choice. They can preserve the lives in their vehicle or take a chance in receiving a ticket. The choice is theirs. I have made my choice, and I choose to be safer than sorry.
I have been wanting to drive because it will be one of the most useful life skills after I graduate from high school. To me, being able to drive means to have a convenient, interesting life, and being a helpful person. My life will be more convenient when I can drive by myself. I am jealous of the day students who can drive off campus to have food when they do not have classes. For those of us who can not drive, the only chance to get out of the school is to up for the school shuttles that can only go certain destinations.
Skate parks in communities are an asset that reduces the number of skateboarders in inconvenient places. This domino effect reduces the number of complaints to police officers of the nuisance caused by skateboarders. One officer in Maine said, “The skaters are very respectful, and the skate park has cut down on the youth crime, especially vandalism and kids skating on the sidewalks. The park gives the kids something to do (“Cops Love Skateparks”). This officer’s words reflect how 90 percent of 92 officers felt about how skate parks are an asset to the community. Skate parks serve as an asset to the community because skaters do not have to trespass in order to practice their sport, and it keeps youths out of trouble. Another officer in Massachusetts said, “I can honestly say that, based on my 27 years of police work, if you can keep kids busy like the skate park has done, you have completely prevented a future adult offender (“Cops Love Skateparks”).” An asset like this for nearly 10 million skaters is priceless and every town should have one. In a literal sense skate parks get kids off the streets because it gives skaters a place to practice and perfect the sport they
If you have a conversation with someone about skateboards, someone is bound to mention that, “skateboarders are just a bunch of dangerous criminal no-lifers… ” This is far from the truth, and this lie has been fabricated by the very communities who have criminalized the sport by adopting unjust laws regulating skateboarding. The municipal code in Yamhill, Oregon, for instance, proclaims some blatantly contradictory laws concerning skateboards and where they should be ridden. According to the code, skateboards can’t be ridden on certain sidewalks in the city. Therefore, skaters must ride on the streets, and, presumably so, shall, “obey all traffic control devices.” However, even when they are on the streets, they are restricted. The code also states that skateboarders on the streets must “yield the right-of-way to motor vehicles,” (Yamhill). How are skateboarders expected to train their craft if they aren’t allowed to ride on the sidewalks, and then their rights are also restricted in the only other place they can skate? Laws like these criminalize skateboarders. The sight of a skateboarder being stopped by an officer, having his skateboard confiscated and his hands cuffed, can only imply one thing, and this is precisely what’s inhibiting the sport and its problem-free development around the
Imagine it is a Friday night underneath the lights, in October, and you are walking into a stadium packed with fans cheering. But the only noise you can hear is the sound of your cleats hitting the pavement as you are marching up to the field, and the only thing you see is the other team and the end zone. It is such a stimulating feeling, it is unforgettable. Now, you may think I am talking about an American football game, but I am not. I am talking about a rugby match. Believe it or not, football derived from rugby. Differences are in rugby, there are no pads, the ball does not have laces, fifteen men to a side, and above all else, it is an international sport and it is safe compared to football. How come if it is safe, and it is a worldwide sport like soccer, why is it not a school sport like football is too many high schools and colleges across the country? Rugby needs to be a school sport not only because it is safe or it is international, but because it builds character in those that need support, teaches people how to work as team, and to expose what real brotherhood is.
All moderately sized towns should have a skatepark for three main reasons: it will make the town look like a nice place to live, the kids in the town won’t be getting into trouble for skating around town, and it is a lot safer than skating in the streets. In countless cities around the world, well-built skateparks have also been proven to be valuable community assets with tremendous benefits. Instead of viewing skateboarding as a negative problem that needs to be solved, these forward-thinking communities have found ways to embrace these sports while showcasing their artistic and acrobatic spirit(“The Benefits”).
Banning the use of cell phones would be a great idea. Doing that would be for the better. Do you know how much safer the road would be if they do so? It would become a lot safer.
Our neighborhoods need control of speed, too. Accidents not only happen on the highway, but also on residential streets, with the speed limits being 25 mph. Motorists are exceeding these limits as I speak. They would be unable to stop quickly enough for pedestrians, possibly swerving out of control and hitting a house or another car. My street has been monitored, by the city, due to this excessive speeding. The city of St. Clair Shores is trying to make the motorists aware of their speeding by posting a digital sign, which posts their current speed. Without a legal speed limit in residential areas, people would drive in excess of 25 mph all the time. We need this wild speeding controlled soon before something bad happens.
When harvest time is here, everyone is busy on the farms. Everyone is helping and busy all day long. For example when my dad is chopping corn silage and my mom is busy in the house. The question is who has to run to town when a part is needed or for diesel. A solution could be to allow 14 year olds to drive. This would help out in a variety of ways by allowing 14 year olds to drive.
“Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional deaths for teens (16-17),” reported The New York State Department of Health. The most exciting thing about being sixteen in the United States is driving. Teenagers can not wait to be sixteen to drive, however, they do not understand the dangers that come with driving at such a young age. Sixteen is the age between child life and adulthood. It is a time when they are not stable and undergoing change, which makes them unsuitable to drive. Many teenagers would say that they need to get to places. In response to that claim, there are public transportation systems and bikes as available alternatives for young drivers. The financial stability and matureness of eighteen year olds proves
