Should Pit bulls be banned/kept as pets? Do you think pit bulls should be banned? Well, they shouldn’t be and I’ll tell you why. People think that pit bulls are dangerous because some dogs of the breed have attacked people in the past. Some examples of the attacks are, a pit bull attacking a young girl and an 8-year-old after the dog got out of the house. Florida banned pit bulls because of the young girl attack I mentioned earlier, and because of those attacks and ect, people don't like pit bulls. People don't take into consideration that it's just those few dogs, not the whole breed that is doing the bad things. There are some reasons why not all pit bulls are bad. My first reason is that a pitbull named Stubby, this dog was a war dog, Stubby sniffed out a poison gas attack before it could explode and cause any harm to his platoon. Stubby was the unofficial mascot of the 102nd Infantry Division. Stubby was also the first dog to be awarded army medals. Many historical figures had pit bulls also including, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, and Helen Keller, pretty cool right? Pit bulls also were very popular in the 1950s and 1960s, companies used these dogs as mascots for adds. Pit bulls were brought to America by English and Irish immigrants, pitbulls became the most popular breed in America. …show more content…
For example, someone went walking with their 2 year old pit bull and they reported that people avoided them. When some people want to adopt pit bulls, but some people yell that they are dangerous. For example, this person said that they were going to adopt a pitbull to their friends and then their friends yelled out “no! There dangerous thats like bringing a cat into a chicken coop, your asking for trouble”, they also stated that after they got the dog their family even stopped coming over to their house. Why do people hate
I believe that all people should be allowed to have any type of dog that they want. It’s just odd how people think that pit bulls are dangerous or vicious.
Would you rather have a plan old dog or a pitbull as a pet? Pitbulls should be allowed as pets. Pitbulls are a model for pride, working dogs, and guardians.
Media over exposes anything that has a negative effect on the pit bull breeds. It is their goal to adversely affect said breeds. These atrocious opinions of reporters distort the views of the public, making them think that one breed is a monstrous threat to society and needs to be banned. Breed specific legislation is unlawful and should be prohibited.
The misrepresentation of Pit Bull breeds in the media has been reflected in American culture. As these dogs were incorporated into World War I propaganda, they were perceived as symbols of courage and strength, the archetype of American dog breeds5. When, in the 1920s and 1930s, American Staffordshire Terrier “Pete the Pup” starred in the comedy Our Gang, later known as The Little Rascals, Pit Bulls were considered “nanny dogs” and family-friendly pets7. When the media focused heavily on illegal dog fighting rings and gang culture in the 1970s and 1980s, Pit Bulls were called demonic and unpredictable. Through their many roles, they have shown versatility and resilience, and lately they have suffered greatly.
Pit bulls are Good Pets Don't judge a book by its cover. Over the years, pit bulls have gotten a bad reputation. It is true that there have been a lot of injuries, but have there been just as many injuries from other breeds of dogs. I think that if you raised them in a loving environment, trained them properly, and if the media stopped reporting injuries, this breed of dog would be more accepted by the public. Proving that pit bulls get the short end of the stick and can make great pets.
If all other breeds are not judged for attacking people, then why are all pit bulls being unfairly judged? Pitbulls are being banned in different counties because they are being wrongly accused of being dangerous. Pit Bulls should not be banned because they can be helpful, the media has given them a bad reputation, and they are only mean if trained that way.
The poem above speaks volumes about the nature of man’s best friend. Dogs are not inherently created bad, but are rather “a product of its environment”. The same principle applies to the world’s most misunderstood breed of dog. When you hear the phrase “pit bull”, what do you think of? A savage beast, murdering out of cold blood? A menace to society, lurking the streets, just waiting for its next victim? This couldn’t be further from the truth for most pit bulls. These fantasised versions plague the breed, outlawing them in many cities, states, and even some countries entirely. These bans are called Breed Specific Legislation (BSL), and in over 700 American cities these laws are in effect. They are in place to decrease the number of attacks
When most people today see a pitbull they see it as a monster who could snap at any moment. Something that they should protect themselves and their family from; but that is not necessarily true. Is any one man or woman exactly like the last? A human being’s personality along with their capacity for violence is molded by their past and how they were treated growing up; pit bulls are no different. In today’s society pitbulls are unfairly discriminated against because they are favored among street gangs and dog fighting rings, leaving a staggering number of loyal and loving dogs homeless or mistreated.
...ports Illustrated cover photo of a pit bull (Pit Bull Rescue Central, "Breed Information”). Dog fighting made a comeback during the 1980s and the pit bull became the favorite macho dog for dog fighters. The dogs were trained to kill or be killed. Pit bulls were also the preferred guard dog for gangs, thugs and criminals. Since the supporters and detractors of pit bulls hold such disparate opinions regarding the ferocity of the breeds, it is only hoped that further discussion and education will help resolve the sad fate that awaits these unfortunate animals. Simply placing all the blame on the breeds will not solve the problems of dog fighting, overbreeding, aggressive training, and excessive euthanizations. Lastly, the biased, sensationalistic publicity of horrific dog attacks which has destroyed the reputation of the once beloved All American Dog must cease.
Since then, there has been a constant argument about whether or not this breed should be allowed to be kept as a pet. No one looks at pit bulls as normal dogs anymore. They are viewed as monsters. They have a crazy amount of strength, speed, and stamina. This can be used against them or for them depending on who is debating the issue of their legality.
Should Pit Bulls be banned? Many people will argue that the pit bull breed should be banned due to its vicious and unpredictable nature. There is a belief that they are inherently evil creatures and that they have a genetic predisposition to be destructive killing machines. In many states and cities, this has brought about breed specific legislation. Breed specific legislation bans or regulates the ownership of specific breeds of dogs, which almost always includes pit bulls.
Imagine a little child sitting in your driveway, and then a pit bull comes up and attacks you. You have to go to the hospital, doesn't sound fun for an eight year old, does it? A lot of people think that pit bulls should be banned for that reason, they are dangerous. A lot of people also think that pit bulls are important, too, and they shouldn't be banned. A ban on pit bulls is the best way to keep people safe.
Pit bulls and several other breeds of dogs that are thought to be overly aggressive and violent are being banned in cities and towns. Are pit bulls a dangerous breed or are they just like any other dog? Many people believe that they are in fact dangerous and aggressive by nature but this is not true. Pitt bulls are being falsely accused for being a violent breed and because of the negative aspects associated with the breed, such as dog fights and vicious attacks, they are being unfairly targeted in breed specific bans.
Did you know that your pet could be in danger? There's a vote going around to ban aggressive dog breeds. The reason for this is that people think that some dog breeds are too aggressive, and should be taken away from owners worldwide. But this isn’t true. Studies have shown that no dog is inherently aggressive, and that any dog can be trained to be just as aggressive.
Australian philosopher Peter Singer says that the world’s idea of charity and how they view giving to those less fortunate as optional is wrong. In Singer’s view 'giving to charity' is neither charitable nor generous. Singer believes that we have a duty to lessen poverty and death because we can. Singer supported his argument by saying that suffering and death caused by lack of food, shelter, or medical care are bad. If a person has it in their power to prevent something bad from happening, without sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance, then they should do it because it is the right and moral thing to do.
