Our children today will lead our future tomorrow. Some parents will do anything to protect their children from the chaos of today’s society. Children are more vulnerable to the effects of the media. Therefore, I believe that parents should censor their own kid’s media and not other people’s children to a certain degree; because every parent has the right to raise their child the way they want, it is the parent’s responsibility to educate their children and parents cannot protect their children forever.
My opponents, those who consider censoring their children as well as other children’s media, believe that some parents have different values. Therefore, some parents will have a different style of parenting than theirs. However, every parent …show more content…

Therefore, parents should have the right to censor their kids and only their kids’ media, based on the type of parenting style and choices they make that best fit their family values and customs. “Both sides should be respectful and understanding of the choices made” (Pacena). Only the child’s parents know what is best for their child. The only exception to censoring another person’s child if the child is in your home. For instance, if a parent and their child visit a family or a guest house they must obey by the owner 's rules. Therefore, the child is learning to respect other adults as well, not just the parents. If it is their house, it is their rules and vice versa. Thus, they will do things they aren’t supposed to do. However, if a child disobeys their parent’s rules, then the parents did not teach their child right enough; it is bad parenting on their part. If a child is raised right enough they will be able to recognize the right from the wrong. Children should be able to make the right decisions when outside the household where the parent will not be there to censor their child’s media. Every child needs to learn how to respect and obey the rules. Therefore, it is up to the parents to teach their children what is right and what is wrong and the consequences that come along with the choices they may make.
