How can two people remain close friends when they’ve been through terrifying experiences? When Laura and Howie are put in a situation of having to escape back home. They encounter many obstacles together throughout the way. Which makes them closer. But will this impact keep them close friends? It's more likely that after the end of the story in the novel, Laura and Howie will remain close friends (or even a couple) for many years One important reason that it's more likely that after the end of the story in the novel, Laura and Howie will remain close friends (or even a couple) for many years is that Laura and Howie have trust in each other. When Howie and Laura were at the Starlight motel, Laura had trust in Howie when she shared out that …show more content…
her name was Shadow (135). Also, when Howie and Laura were outside the Jewel supermarket and Firestone tire store, Howie trusted Laura with the money when she had to go buy tampons, but she lied saying it was for a comb and other girl stuff (123). What this means is that they both trust each other in situations they encounter. Laura trust Howie when she shared her name to him, even though that barely known each other and was a total stranger who was her escape partner. Howie trust Laura when she lied that she was going to buy combs and girl stuff when she was actually going to buy tampons. Howie was a trustworthy person to believe and not go with her or to not give her the money. They both had trust in each other, which will cause them to get closer and closer to the point where maybe they will become more that just friends. The other side of the argument is that having trust in each other won't make two people become more than just friends. But the argument that Laura and Howie have trust in each other is still true. The key point is that trust does make two people become even closer because without trust in a relationship, then why have a relationship in the first place. If they have a trust in each other already imagine their trust level when they are more than just friends. We all know that you don't give a stranger your name but Laura didn't take Howie as a stranger. She took him as someone she can trust because she had trust in him. Howie trusted Laura when she lied about going to buy combs and stuff when she actually went for tampons. Howie trusted her by giving her the money when they could’ve used it for something else like food. Another key reason that it's more likely that after the end of the story in the novel, Laura and Howie will remain close friends (or even a couple) for many years is that Laura and Howie keep each other safe. When Howie and Laura were in the dining hall at the new camp, Howie kicks Pardoe when he was harassing Laura (100). And as well when Laura was inside the cottage and Howie was outside the cottage, Laura opened the door to let Howie in, so he wouldn’t freeze outside (6). The point is it shows how they both care about each other and want to keep each other safe. Howie has already defended Laura when someone is trying to harass or hurt her. If Howie has already taken care of her when they're strangers and just getting to know each other, imagine later on when they get to know each other better. And maybe even become more than just friends. Laura was caring enough to let Howie come into the cottage she was in, without her even knowing who he was, if he was going to hurt her or anything. She let him come in so he didn’t have to to suffer outside in the cold rain. They both take care of each other which is key to a great couple relationship. Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that Laura and Howie keep each other safe and instead argue that Howie and Laura don't keep each other safe or care about each other. However, stronger evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that it shows how they both care about each other and want to keep each other safe. Howie has already defended Laura when someone is trying to hurt her. If he cares that much for her at this point were there just friends imagine when they get closer. Laura was caring enough to let Howie come in the cottage with her, without her even knowing if he would harm her . She let him come in so he didn't have to suffer in the freezing rain. They both take care of each other which is another key to a great couple relationship. This is essentially why Laura and Howie keep each other safe. The last key reason that it’s more likely that after the end of the story in the novel, Laura and Howie will remain close friends (or even a couple) for many years is that Laura and Howie don’t want to separate.
When Howie and Laura were lost on the island, Howie wanted Laura and him to both disappear (16). And when Howie and Laura were in the woods, Laura said I thought we were supposed to stay together (181). The evidence supports the claim by showing how they want to stay together and don’t want to separate. Howie wanted Laura and him to disappear and run away because they didn’t want to go back to the camp where they were mistreated. Laura said I thought we were supposed to stay together when Howie told her that he didn't need her or want her. Laura felt so hurt by those words that started to get mad and cry, she even yelled ¨you take that back¨ and jumped on him. But afterwards Howie took his words back. This proves that Laura doesn’t want to leave his side and neither does Howie, so they don't want to leave each others side. It's possible to disagree with the side that Laura and Howie don’t want to separate and instead argue that Howie and Laura want to separate and don't want to escape/stay together. But the side that Laura and Howie don’t want to separate is still true. What must be remembered is that Howie and Laura care about each other and want to stay together so none of them get lost. If they want to stay together at the point where they want to run away together from the camp where they were mistreated and with them being strangers to each other than imagine when they get to know each other and become more than just friends. Howie wanted Laura and him to disappear to somewhere where they wouldn't have to return to the camp. He wanted them to run away together so they wouldn't have to face anything else like the camp. Howie trusted and cared about her to the point where he would run away with her. Laura said ¨I thought we were supposed to stay
together¨ when Howie told her that he didn't need her or want her. Those words really got to Laura that made her want to cry, yell, get mad, and jump on him. She didn't want to separate from him because she trusted him and knew she was going to be safe if he was around her. But lucky afterwards Howie took his words back, which made Laura feel better. That right there is a good friend to have. It's more likely that after the end of the story in the novel, Laura and Howie will remain close friends (or even a couple) for many years by having trust in each other, keeping each other safe, and not wanting to separate. Even though, Laura and Howie were put in a situation of having to escape back home. And encountered many obstacles together throughout the way. Laura and Howie are close friends were, even though if they are separated, they will be connected from the heart. And have that friendship as one of their favorite friendship, no matter what.
Lisa’s friends stick with her when no one else will. One incident happened where Lisa went into an almost trance-like episode and then proceeded to attack one of her three friends. Even through the difficult times, Lisa’s friends would not give up on her. The basic theme of friendship is expressed throughout the novel.
Friendship is an unbreakable bond between two people and contains loyalty and love. In the story Chains, Isabel finds herself in grand friendships that play throughout the story. She showed how devoted she was towards Lady Lockton, Curzon, and Ruth by being there for them during tough times. In the end, friendship is the light through the darkness, powerful and important.
A true friendship is always having each others back through thick and thin, a ride or die. As Claire has been put under a lot of danger the boys were always there to watch over her and protect her like she was a sister. Even when they knew that the secrets could potentially harm them they stayed by her side to ensure her safety to the best of their abilities. For example, Nicholas never left her alone anywhere and always accompanied Claire. When Claire was kidnapped Nicholas was there to try and protect her but was shot. Claire had a choice to make and chose to protect him which saved his life. “I wondered if my friendship and love could ever be an even trade for the pain they had endured” (Maetani 366). Claire is aware of the pain and hardship the boys and her family has faced as she reached further through the past and was distressed for the pain they had faced. True friends will do anything to ensure the safety of each other despite the challenges and adversities encountered.
For instance, the denial from Ralph and Jack leads the boys to make decisions that caused havoc to their society on this island. As they; Ralph, Jack and the boys engrossed the island, they simultaneously lost hope. Such as, Simon says to Ralph, “You’ll get back to where you came from” (111). Ralph tries telling the boys they are going to get rescued. But as days pass and how long they have been on the island, he is undetermined. Jack, on the other hand, does not believe that being rescued will ever occur. He tells the boys it is hopeless of them to think they can get out of the island. Furthermore, not only did they deny being rescued, but Ralph and Jack do not acknowledge the deaths of Simon and Piggy. For example, as stated in the book. “The breaking of the conch and the deaths of Piggy and Simon lay over the island like a vapor” (184). However, Ralph does acknowledge a bit of Simon’s and Piggy’s death, but afterwards he forgot due to Jack and his tribe willing to go after him. As to Jack, he was neglectful about th...

“When you are down in life, your friends get to know who you are. When you're up in life you get to know who your friends are.” -Anonymous. From the novel “Freak the Mighty”, the narrator informs us that Max and Kevin demonstrate a strong friendship. All in all, they were there for each other in the good times and the bad. So in conclusion, good friendship includes teamwork, trust, and having adventures.
The protagonist in Rain Man found this out when he started spending more time with his older brother Raymond. At first Charlie Babbitt did not think of Raymond as his brother because he just found out Raymond was his brother. But over time and throughout their adventures Charlie Babbitt made a connection with Raymond. Charlie says to his brother that “when [they] started out together [Raymond] was only [his] brother in name . . . [then he] made a connection” (Bass). This tells the readers that because of all the time they were forced to be together they ended up bonding. In Of Mice and Men a comparable situation happened allowing George and Lennie to become connected. By working long hard days and going through highs and lows George and Lennie grow close towards one another. They have each other to lean on when times get tough and they also end up sharing the same goal. When they say “an’ live off the fat ta the land” (Steinbeck pg 14) they are talking about being able to buy a farm together so they can work for themselves and spend quality time together. That is why they were hesitant to allow Candy to join their dream because they would feel more accomplished achieving their dream by themselves and it would further bond their relationship. If one does not invest time in a relationship it will never
A friendship can be considered to be one of the most complex and ever changing concepts that the human race tries to comprehend. In ';Lord of the Flies';: by William Golding, Piggy and Ralph, both as different in looks as they are in personality, are forced together by fate and to allie with one another for survival .Through the harsh experiences, that they battle through, an indestructible bond is formed. The friendship continuously develops from the reliance of Piggy upon Ralph at the beginning of the story, then to the alliance of both Piggy and Ralph as more tragedy struck, to their unbreakable bond which is formed, after the whole group falls apart.
We see this with Owen Meany when John tells us that Owen “gave me more than he ever took from me” (A Prayer for Owen Meany 2.509-511). Even with the death of John’s mother at the hands of Owen these too prove to be the best of friends. A friend is someone who is “A positive influence on your life” (What is Friendship? Friendship.about.com), this friendship proves this theory by the boys helping John finding his identity and Owen’s destiny. Along with friendship in the novel we see the importance of family and the role that it plays throughout the novel.
A friend is someone you can share dreams with and will give you assistance when you need it. That's what you call a true friendship. In the novel of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, he wrote a lot about the friendship of George and Lennie’s. George and Lennie, who come most proximate to achieving this ideal of brotherhood. The author shows the relationship of George and Lennie. George takes care of Lennie who has a childlike mind. George is constantly giving Lennie instructions, for instance like not to talk when they went to the ranch, and George said not to say anything when they go to the ranch and also telling him not to touch dead animals. George and Lennie are a good example of friendship because George took care of Lennie when his Aunt Clara died, George protects Lennie from people that try to hurt him,and George kills Lennie.

One important reason that Laura and Howies excursion was an immature and foolish series of actions for which they should be punished is that Laura and Howie didn’t have to leave the island. In the text it says ¨Margo cutter, senior counselor, came down to the beach still carrying the bag of clothes¨. This shows If the counselors were coming they didn’t need to leave. Now, some might argue that Howie and Laura didn't know the counselors were coming. But the argument that Laura and Howie didn't have to leave the island is still true. The key point is This argument is flawed because either way Howie and Laura made an impulsive decision.
Friendship is reported here by Paterson in story form; that friendship whether serious or not has ended in tragedy. There will never be a friendship that lasts forever, that is in the mortal life, and, although affairs happen to change and affect the outcomes of that friendship, there will always be a story to tell about any life with or even without friendship, such as that of Jesse and Leslie, simple yet very complicated and heartfelt. Story form, yet very unreliable, is the only way to explain it, as long as the story entails all the necessary elements.
Similarly, in “The Interlopers,” Ulrich and Georg become allies while trapped under a tree together. Both stories have people who must become companionable towards each other in order to survive, which makes one question how much they may actually be a true friend. In “The Open Boat,” the crew becomes like a sort
Growing up in school you have your friends in 1st, then in Jr. High, and then when you get to high school you might not even know or see your friends from 1st grade anymore. For the few people who’s had a friend from 1st grade till college I think that someone they need to hold on to because if they stuck with you through all them year I know they’re there for the right reason and there not just there for a season. As Elizabeth Dunphy says, “It’s the little things that matter, that add up in the end, with the priceless thrilling magic found only in a friend.”
