According to (www.cnn.com) there are 1,051,031 immigrants in America. Almost all of those immigrants are being sent back home because many people think that the immigrants are not helping us but making America worse. Then many people also think the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America. This topic is something that is going to augured for the rest of our lives. Immigrants should be allowed to stay in America without having a fear of being deported. Many people believe that the immigrant should be allowed to stay in America because they are helping our economy, they came for a better life, and the came for a better opportunites. One reason, why immigrants should be allowed to stay in America is because the immigrants are helping …show more content…
our economy. For example, hard working politicians believe that the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America because the immigrants are hardworking and that they do a lot of farming and harvest our food. To prove that hard working politicians believe this to Bernie Sanders says this “They harvest our food” (http://2016election.procon.org). The quote from Bernie Sanders is significant because it proves that the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America. They harvest and produce our food, and without the immigrants be allowed to stay in America they would be no one who wants or even knows how to harvest crops. So if the immigrants get sent back we would have very limited fresh fruits and vegetables to eat. Also, the U.S economy department believes that the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America because the immigrants are hardworking and do not depend on they money. The economy department states this “The U.S. economy in terms of industries and manufactures depends on immigrants because of their hard work and cheap labor” (Odias). This quote shows, that the U.S economy department depends on the immigrants. We depend on them because, according to Hubert Odias the immigrants are “hardworking and they are cheap to pay.” So that is good for the U.S because we can get good quality work done for a cheap amount of money. This fact from Hubert Odias addes up to suggest that we keep the immigrants here because with the immigrants here in America we can get good quality work done for a cheap amount of amount. And the good thing of being able to pay them for cheap is that we can save money to buy other things to help America become a better place. Furthermore, the people that live in America also believe that the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America because the immigrants are very smart. So if the immigrants get sent back the people that live in America would have to go back to school to learn how to be an engineer, scientist, and inventor when the immigrants already know how to be an engineer, scientist, and inventor. A citizen that lives in America states “Immigrants are our engineers, scientists, inventors” ( Furman,Gray). The quote from, a citizen of America proves that the immigrants are very very smart because they know a lot of stuff in the sciences department. So if the immigrants get sent back to where they came from we would lose those smart people who very good at sciences. The immigrant know a lot about science they are good at engineering and inventing things so we would those lose all the people who are good and know a lot about those topics. And when they go back we would have nobody to cover those topics so the people in America would have to go back to school to learn about those topics. So the point that Furman,Gray were trying to get at with the quote was that if we send the immigrants back the people in America will have to go back to school to learn more about engineers, sciences, inventors. Additional, the immigrant should be allowed to stay in America because the immigrants came to America for a better life. For example, an immigrant talks about how she just wants to stay in America because here and family came to America only for a better life and she wants her and other the immigrants to just live in peace. “We came here for a better life. A better life where we should all be allowed to live in harmony” (Alvarez). This quote from a former immigrant is pretty powerful because she is state her point that the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America because she believes that the immigrants and herself only came to America for a better life. She also proves her point that she came to live in America just to live in peace and not to have to worry about getting killed or being sent to jail or even sent back to where they came from. The immigrants that still live back home they are not living in peace they are either being told what to do 24/7 or they are poor and can not supply their family with what they need. Another reason, why the immigrants came to America for a better life was because Elizabeth Arizaga talks about the immigrants want to live in America because the want to do stuff that they could not do back home like show their religion and get out of a bad places that were making their lives bad and unsafe. “Immigrants chose to come for various reasons, such as to live in freedom, to practice their religion freely, to escape poverty or oppression, and to make better lives for themselves and their children” (Arizaga). This quote from Elizabeth proves that the immigrants wanted to come to America for a better life because back home they we not allowed to practice in what they believed in the were trapped in poverty so the moved to America for a better life. The last reason why the immigrants came to America for a better life is because they were facing a lot of problems and were surrounded by crimes and drugs. “Facing a variety of national problems – crime, drugs, corruption, a troubled economy” (www.pewglobal.org). The quote that (www.pewglobal.org) states that in Mexico the immigrants had a really bad background of crimes and drugs,so the people that moved to America are here to get out of the crime and drugs world and to live a better life. Lastly, people believe that that immigrants should be allowed to stay in America because the immigrants came to America for better opportunities. For instance the immigrant came to America for more oppreitnes for this instance the immigrants came to America for better opportunities on health care. “Imagine living in a country with limited access to care when you’re suffering from serious health problems” ( Nunez). The quote from Christian proves that the immigrants came to America for more opportunities because back from they came from the had horrible health care and had bad health problems so they came to America for more opperintes for better health care. Another example, on why the immigrants moved to America was because of better job opportunities and with the better jobs they can make better money to supply their family with the needs they need. “For many years economic migrants have been leaving Mexico and parts of Central America in search of jobs in the US” (www.usaimmigration.com). This quote giving by (www.usaimmigration.com) states that the main reason the immigrants left Mexico was for better job opportunities in America. And if the get better jobs then they can make better money to supply their family with what they need to live. Consequently, immigrants had to make hard decisions for their better opportunities here in America for themselves and for their kids, and family.“Parents sometimes make the difficult decision to migrate so their children can benefit from things like superior education, and plentiful job opportunities” ( Nunez). The quote proves that immigrants moved to America for better opportunities. But the immigrants had to make hard decisions on if the really want better opportunities for the kids education and health that could help them for the rest of their life. Some people disagree, saying that immigrants should be sent back.
For example, some people try proving that the immigrants are causing problems on the road. “A single mother of two young girls, she had been deported from Utah after police caught her driving with the headlights out” ( Krauze). This proves that because of a simple mistake like forgetting to turn on your headlights can be so dangerous that it can get you sent back home. So if so many immigrants do not know how to drive it can get dangerous but it can also get them sent back home. Another reason, why people believe that the immigrants should be sent home is because they believe that they have a more likely chance of drunk driving. “Higher rates of drunk driving (Taylor). This quote proves that the immigrants have a higher rate of drunk driving. So if we have more people that are more likely to drive drunk the cops would have to pull over more people and then those people would have to pay a lot of money that they probably do not have. More drunk drive could could then lead to more accidents which then lead to more injuries and deaths. This can be challenged by the amount of good immigrants do for our country. “The United States opened up many opportunities” (Alvares). The quote from Kristhell Alavers proves that the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America because for them it open it a lot of new opportunities. Many of the new opportunities that America could open up for the immigrants could help them have better lives and get a fresh start on a new
life. In conclusion, many people think that the immigrants should be sent back to where they came from but many people also think that the immigrants should be allowed to stay in America because they are helping our economy, they came to America for a better life, and they came for better opportunities. This is a major topic right now in the real wide world today because many immigrants are being sent back to where they came from. But many people want the immigrants to be sent back to where they came from because they believe they are causing problems in America. But many people want they immigrant to stay in America because they think they are helping us. So now that you know it bit more about illegal immigrants coming to America. Do you still think the immigrants should be sent back home or do you now think the should be allowed to stay?
The statue of liberty is one of America’s famous icons. It stands 305 feet above Liberty Island looking at New York’s historic harbor and enshrining the idea of freedom from oppression. The Lady Liberty has been welcoming millions of immigrants seeking a better life in the United States, however illegal immigration is becoming a much larger issue than when she was built in 1886. With over 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, the question frequently arises, What should be done about them? Now is the best time to figure that out! The illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the United States of America. The illegals assist in balancing out demand for low wage workers and continue to boost the American economy. They benefit our local and state governments by paying taxes and dividends
The policies implemented by the United States to strengthen the border and enforce immigration policies have led to the abuse and profiling of undocumented immigrants. Undocumented immigrants live in constant fear of deportation and are subjected to multiple human rights violations as they are abused, exploited and discriminated against. Immigrants are racialized and stereotyped. The US government has passed laws that discriminate against undocumented immigrants, making it harder for them to live and survive in America. These laws are due to the perception that undocumented immigrants are a burden on the US economy, but on the contrary undocumented immigrants provide an economic benefit to the US, and due to the benefit they provide society
Immigration has been a problem for so many years. This issue began in the 19th century and yet is still a major problem in the U.S. Illegal immigrants don't have many rights living in the U.S. They have a hard life because they don't have the same opportunities as a u.s citizen has. Many of these people get treated unfairly simply because of the fact that they are illegal. There is cases where they have been treated aggressively by the authority. Everyone needs equality no matter where they are from. Most of these immigrants are latinos that come from central america. People from the united states are allowed to go and have a nice vacation in these places but yet those there have to cross a border and put their life at risk just to have a better life. Why do these people have to risk their lives in look for something better. The united states promises equality and this is what attracts others and its sad that they can’t come in legally without having to risk their lives. The ones that are here are working hard and most of them do no harm. Deportation should not be used on illegal immigrants.
First, immigrants come to the U.S. to work and bring valuable skills which help grow the economy despite the negative views surrounding their part in the U.S. economy. Since the 2008-2009 recession the view on immigration and its effects on the economy has been more negative than positive (Peri, 2012). A study done by Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government found that about 50 percent of American adults believe that immigrants burden the country because they, “take jobs, housing, and healthcare”, while the other 50 percent believe that, “immigrants strengthen the country due to their hard work and talents” (Delener & Ventilato, 2008). Over the past decade, “over half of the increase in the U.S. labor force,… was the result of immigration-l...
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2) While some argue that illegal immigrants burden the United States of America and its economy, others believe that they have become essential and are an important part of the US, economy.
For centuries, migrating has been a life changing decision for people that choose to enter the United States in search of a better future. Therefore, immigration is the permanent residency of people that choose to move to a new country. There are debates concerning the immigrants who enter the United Stated illegally and as the daughter of immigrant parents, I am fortunate to be born in this country.
Most of the United States (U.S) is comprised of immigrants—including those who have migrated to the States from another country and those whose ancestors freely travelled to the States in search of a fresh start. Every year, the U.S. grants a limited number of people around the world the opportunity to immigrate to the States each year. As a result of the restriction, citizens from neighboring countries cross the border illegally. According to an article by Jens Manuel Krogstad, 11.3 million unauthorized immigrants reside in the U.S. in 2014. This whopping number has stirred controversy both politically and economically for America’s government officials. As a result, many people argue whether illegal immigrants should or should not be aided
Immigration is the greatest part of American history. In the beginning, Immigrants brought a vast variety of cultures and beliefs and turned America in to the beauty it is today. Immigrants are still doing this. However, the issue with immigration can be it 's illegal status. Many undocumented immigrants are entering this country causing questions among the American citizens. Rather than asking if this is right or wrong, a solution can be found. Illegal immigrants come here for a purpose and can be helped with this purpose. Most come fleeing persecution, although some come here for more demented reasons. Those, illegal immigrants will be done away with. However, Those immigrants who come here for pure reasons need to be taken Care of in proper
Immigrants have always been an important part of United States’ population. Each year, there are hundreds of thousands of immigrants, from all around the world, including legal and illegal, come into the United States for job opportunities, new life, or the American Dream. “Immigrants have contributed significantly to the development of the United States. During the Lincoln administration, immigrants were actually encouraged to come to America, as they were considered valuable to the development of the country.” (Soylu & Buchanan, 2013). They believe that the US will give them more freedom, protection, and opportunities, which sometimes it becomes the major issues for immigrants. That’s why “the U.S. population is becoming more racially and
From the beginning of the United States, immigrants have always played an integral role. The nation itself was built on immigration, whether to escape persecution or war; however, the United States, as it progressed has had instances where immigrant groups have had issues assimilating into society whether due to the political wave running through the nation or from an economic depression. One group, that has been experiencing this difficulty assimilating into society has been Mexicans who have, since the beginning of the 1960’s, have been coming over in droves to escape the poverty, corruption, and drugs that run rampant in Mexico. So, although the United States was established on immigration, the United States has had an issue with the incoming
Those who support immigrants being protected by the law believe that immigrants help the economy by creating lower wages which enables companies to make better profits. According to Becky Akers and Donald J. Boudreaux, immigrants “should be allowed to contribute to the United States economy in the Constitutional and legal precepts that guarantee all immigrants the opportunity to pursue life, liberty, and happiness in the United States” (22). If immigrants were not here in the United States, the jobs they do might not even get done by anyone else (Isidore 103). Immigrants fill up the jobs that many Americans do not want. “Specialization deepens. Workers’ productivity soars, forcing employers to compete for their time by offering higher pay” (Akers and Boudreaux 25). As researcher Ethan Lewis said, “Economics professor, Patricia Cortes, studied the way immigrants impact prices in 25 large United States metropolitan areas. She discovered that a 10-percent increase in immigration lowered the price...
“Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life,” was the words of former American president, John F. Kennedy (American Immigration: Quotes about Immigration). Immigrants have been in America for many years now. Today many people have different opinions about whether immigrants should be allowed into America freely, or if there should be more harsh regulations to those coming into the country. After September 11, people have been afraid, or scared of foreigners coming to America. “Today a wide-open door is an invitation to national disaster,” was said by FAIR (American Immigration: Quotes about Immigration). I believe this quote is very wrong. People come to our country to find a better place to live, and have a family. They come here for the opportunities, the jobs, and for the pleasures of all the freedom America has to offer. I believe immigrants should freely be able to come into America.
Illegal immigrants are makers, not takers. Many American citizens see these approximate 11 million illegal immigrants in a negative view and don’t want them living in their communities. However, many of these American citizens don’t know why illegal immigrants come here and what good they actually do to this country. Illegal immigration should be allowed because their quality of life is improved, they help the economy, and they bring job growth.
Once they realize resources are being consumed more than the production rate, implementing new laws to produce more resources can easily be done. Also, legal immigrants pay taxes, meaning the government receives more funds when immigrants are coming legally. With more funds, the government can provide better to the needs of citizens, eliminating the fear of running out of resources. Another argument is that immigrants who are living in a country illegally are wasting the government’s money. An example is that the children of illegal immigrants attend schools that are funded by tax paying citizens, the loss of money could go to getting new books rather than to be given to students who do not pay taxes ("Negative Effects of Illegal Immigration").
Who is an immigrant? An immigrant is a person who has a citizenship in one country but enters another country to set up as a permanent resident. Sometimes countries are suffering greatly from lack of leadership, internal strife or war, and a collapsed economy. This is the case in Somalia, as well as in Syria, Libya, and Yemen. Syrian people are moving to Europe in order to find a peaceful home. Mexican immigrants come to the US looking for jobs. The people then move to new countries where they don’t speak the national language. In America, when the immigrants come, there are many difficulties: cultural differences regarding time and scheduling, transportation issues, and language difficulties.
