“We are a nation of immigrants. We are the children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the ones who wanted a better life, the driven ones, the ones who woke up at night hearing that voice telling them that life in that place called America could be better.”- Mitt Romney. Just as Mitt Romney said, our ancestors came here to seek a better life, just as others are coming here today. America is known as the “Land of Opportunity” and known for their cultural diversity because the US obtains the best possibilities in life. Immigration holds its own in today’s issues, although it has its advantages. This matter has been brought up in presidential elections, debates, and schools. There are disputes about whether immigrants should be regulated and if they will be a nuisance to the community. Within the US, we are a population of immigrants but we fear immigrants from other countries. In perspective one, it says, “With the Exception of Native Americans, we are all immigrants to this country.” Immigrants are just people from different countries seeking a better life, just as we did in 1620. Our ancestors wanted us to have a future and the same opportunity as others. Who are we to deny them the opportunity to better their lives and not to give them a chance to come into our country? Today, to come into our country immigrants have to go through a process of naturalization that is expensive and could take years. Hence, it would be disrespectful to our ancestors if immigrants were treated unlike us, and have to go through a three-year process, or not even get the chance to come into the United
