Illegal immigration has been a problem in the U.S. for many, many years now and it has not gotten any better. The process of becoming an American for an immigrant takes a long time depending on where the person is coming from. There are immigrants who work very hard and do the jobs no one else is willing to because they need money to support their families. It is not fair for them to do the work that America needs but does not get the same treatment or benefits as Americans do. If an immigrant is a good person, has no criminal records, not a problem in America, then they should be able to stay in America without having to be scared to be deported. Illegal immigrants should not be deported in my opinion, if they are innocent people who are working to support themselves and their families. Legal immigration takes too long and that is why there are so many illegal immigrants in the country. There are around 12.5 billion illegal immigrants in the U.S. as of 2017. Illegal immigrants have not stolen the jobs of anyone, they take the jobs that no one else will because they have no choice but to take it and survive while Americans complain about the jobs that are given to them.
