Should Illegal Immigrants Be Allowed Essay

Illegal immigrants should be allowed in the United States because of

manual labor. Philip Martin believes that illegal immigrants work harder than

average of Americans in the United States. According to Philip Martin

“Anecdotal and survey evidence suggests that many illegal aliens at least

initially work harder than similar American workers. Many of the jobs filled

by illegals are physically demanding, and American workers hoping to

eventually find a better job are more likely to complain. illegal aliens, on the

other hand, often have a savings target and are willing to work very hard to

keep their jobs. Such workers maintain a fast pace under piece-rate wages

to maximize their earnings. illegal alien workers often accomplish

more

during each hour worked in certain jobs and often work more hours per

week or year than American workers. In some instances, the availability

of illegal alien workers makes it unnecessary to spend money to make the

work environment better” (Martin 58). This means that illegal immigrants

are willing to work harder than average Americans because that's all they

have to live off.

But Americans can find a better job and can move around

more than immigrants because immigrants find it harder to go places, they

either have to take the bus or pay taxi to get around and they want to just

make through with what they have unlike most Americans do. Eduardo

Porter claims that illegal immigrants would get paid less than most

Americans because of their background. According to Eduardo Porter that

“This increases the growth rate of the economy and pushes wages higher.

Mr. Peri estimated that the wave of immigrants that entered the United

States between 1990 and 2007 increased workers’ incomes by about

$5,100 a year on average, in 2005 dollars. This amounts to more than a

fifth of the income gains over the period” (Porter 12). This means that

illegal immigrants increased the company’s income by $5,100 a year and

that was more than with American workers in years. Also they increased

the company worth because of all the products that are being made or

services that are being done by illegal immigrants for less. Steven A.

Camarota describes that illegal immigrants usually work in factories or non

private household services. According that Steven A. Camarota

“Almost 18 percent of illegal Mexican immigrants are employed as

agricultural laborers, in contrast to only about 10 percent of legal Mexican

immigrants.The table also shows that contrary to the popular impression,

more than 80 percent of illegal Mexican immigrants work outside of the

agriculture sector. Most illegal immigrants work in non-private household

service occupations, precision production, craft occupations or as

operators, fabricators, and laborers. The same is true for legal Mexican

immigrants” (Camarota 7). This means that illegal immigrants usually work

in factories because Americans wouldn’t do that job, they think it is hard to

keep up with it. They try their hardest in any job because it's their lives and

that's all what helps provide for their family for the future. Overall, the

experts says illegal immigrants will work for low wages, work harder and

work any kind of job and that illegal immigrants should be allowed in the

United States.
