Recommended: Should schools allow students to have fidget spinners in class

Fidget spinners are the latest craze in schools across America. Purposed for ADHD and anxiety, the spinners have turned into fun gadgets, being sold out at many 7-Elevens and other retailers. They are not being used for their marketed reasons and are no longer a learning tool but a toy. Fidget spinners should not be allowed in school because they are distracting, used for the wrong purposes, and have caused harm to many children and adults. The spinners have caused many distractions in a countless number of schools across the country. Teachers want them banned because their students play with the toy instead of paying attention in their classes. Students have even attached pencils to the bearings making it a hazard. Fidget spinners are supplying students with entertainment, rather than help with anxiety . Sadly, many have taken advantage of their cause, leading to using them for the wrong purposes. Fidget spinners were created in the 90’s for anxiety and ADHD help. They have evolved into spinners with lights, bluetooth, and more. With an increase of students bringing spinners with the complex styles to school is causing more distraction than ever. One child needed to have surgery to remove one the three bearings from her throat after she choked on the small metal piece in her car trying to clean it with her mouth.
