Did you know that the Tesla model X is a starting price of $79,500? Manufacturers of electric cars should make it easier for the consumer to buy for these three reasons: Electric cars are eco-friendly, the car gets more miles per “charge” and, they don't create noise pollution. My first reason manufactures should make electric cars easier to afford is because electric cars are eco-friendly. Normal cars create air pollution. According to the article “Electric Cars in the Modern World (2012)”, “ In many places around the world, environmental changes are visible in a blanket of dirty brown smog, air that is filled with particles and chemicals released during the burning of fossil fuels.” This means that electric cars do not make this pollution because they do not use fossil fuels to run, instead they use electricity. My second reason why manufacturers of electric cars should make it easier for the consumer to buy is because they get more miles per “charge”. According to the article , “ Electric Car (2016)”. “Electric cars usually …show more content…
In the article “Electric Transportation : The Road to the Future (2012)” it talk about how in Petaluma, California they have electric U.P.S vans. They get approximately 40 miles per charge and, can reach 45 miles per hour. Also they are quite which makes it ideal for early morning trips. Now some people may disagree with me and say that electric cars should be the price they are because if to many people have them then there could be blackouts in houses and apartments. But I disagree with this because if we keep having blackouts then we will have to improve our electricity and make it stronger. What I mean by the saying that the electric U.P.S would be great for early morning trips is because they are quite unlike the loud U.P.S vans heard rumbling through the street that wake you
The electric car was also challenged by economic factors. Because the EV1 was not being mass-produced, it was never able to benefit from the cost reduction that comes with economies of scale. Because of this, the car was more expensive for consumers, which limited its market to those who could afford it.
The Automotive, or electric car industry particularly, comprises all those companies and activities involved in the manufacture of electric motor vehicles (EV), including most components, such as engines, bodies and rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. The industry’s principal products are passenger automobiles. Despite the fact that the first electric cars were produced in 1880s , the advances in internal combustion engines, especially the electric starter, soon diminished the relative advantages of the electric car and became the dominant design in the market. Due to this the EV was almost a forgotten industry staying in the early stage of development, conforming to less than 1% of the automotive stock
The substantial increase in the demand for EV’s came just in time as we are slowly but surely running out of oil. Some estimate that by the year 2040, 35 percent of all vehicles will be electric (Sullins, 2017). An article from the U.S. Department of Energy stated that “Electric vehicles hold a lot of potential for helping the U.S. create a more sustainable future. If the U.S. transitioned all the light-duty vehicles to hybrids or plug-in electric vehicles, we could reduce our dependence on foreign oil by 30-60 percent, while lowering the carbon pollution from the transportation sector by as much as 20 percent (energy.gov, 2014). It’s obvious that gas-powered vehicles have harmed our planet with their emissions. Although EV’s cannot reverse that damage that has been done, they can eliminate, or at least slow down, the inevitable demise that our planet is headed towards. Along with the beneficial environmental factors that correspond with electric cars, there are also beneficial financial factors. The average American spends about $2,000 on gas annually. In the future, charging stations will charge roughly $12.00 for a full charge, which is about 300 miles. This means that the average American will save about $1,400 per year on these specific car
I don 't know about you, but to me that is a lot of money. Most people would probably not want to buy a factory made EV, but if you really did want a EV then you could have a donor car, maybe a car that has it 's engine is thrashed, be converted into an electric powered car. There are two different ways of doing this. One was is to buy a conversion kit that fits with the car that you wish to convert. The other was is to have an expert convert it for you. If you choose to have someone do a conversion for you the price runs from $15,000 and up, depending on the kit used. When having someone else do the conversion the price is so high because the cost includes the batteries, donor car and components and labor (What is an Ev). I don 't know about you but you could pretty much buy a really nice used car for that same amount. I think that it is a little extreme just because it supposedly is better and easier to use than gas cars. If you need to replace the battery pack that is going to cost you around $1,000-1,200 and you 'll need to replace the battery every 3 years(What is an Ev). Again I think that it is pretty extreme just to replace the
The future American commuter will undoubtedly have to transition from the use of fossil fuels to new alternatives due to the diminishing availability of the nation’s oil resources. How will America respond to this upcoming issue? It is difficult to predict which alternative fuel source America will ultimately choose, but with the premier of Nissan’s electric powered Leaf and other companies; such as Tesla Motors and Chevy, with their electric cars ready for market, the electric car may be winning the race to become the new standard for the gasoline alternative. Electric cars resolve long standing environmental issues, but it will need to maneuver around many roadblocks to become a marketable consideration for the general public. The cost of electric cars, currently on the market, makes them an impractical purchase for the average consumer. If cost is not the growing concern in today’s economy which prevents the consumer from considering this option; they may deny the technological advance due to battery storage capabilities and the inadequate infrastructure in place to refuel and provide for them.
I bet you didn't know that the first cars made were all mostly electric. But as time passed gas powered cars became more popular through the years. There were few if any electric cars available as timed moved on. Everyone believed that gas powered vehicles were more convenient than the electric powered ones. I believe that gas powered vehicles are better because gas powered cars have more function ability. The range that electric vehicles have is poor compared to gas vehicles. Electric vehicles don't function very well when the weather is cold. You'll need to charge your car pretty much every night. You are only going to be able to go 80 mph. If you go up a big hill your range goes down. electric vehicles (rather ev's) do pollute but they don't pollute the same way that gas cars pollute.
The electric use will not give off pollution that is unhealthy for the environment and its
Is that really a fact or just half true? The stereotype about all cars without departmentalizing between the gas cars in their improper maintenance that cause bad smog with the gas cars which are in a good maintenance by its owner and not causing excessive smog, is just simply ignorance. Fossil fuels is another term used to vilify the gas cars, because gas cars devour it. Beside of its negative contribution to the world destruction, burning fossil fuels that dug from the earth makes the earth unbalance during her lifespan. The effect that concerns the environmentalists is the earth is dying, giving the phenomena from the melting ice cap in the both poles.
(Commission, 2002) At the end of it all you ended up using only 15 percent to move your car which is a full tank of gasoline depending on the car it could mean 10 to 20 gallons of gasoline, while an electric vehicle uses about half as much fossil fuel in the form of electricity from the fossil-fuel burning plants. The fifth reasons are that gasoline car requires oil change which could damage the environment because of improper use or care from the die-hard do-it-yourself people that think nothing of the environment and not properly recycle the filter parts or the oil itself. An electric vehicle has little moving part like the motor and all other electric motor doesn’t need oil meaning less maintenance and only need electricity from renewable power generator or some greenhouse plants. As for the sixth reasons, Electric vehicle does less damages to the ozone pollution, the water because no oil is needed, less minerals material like steel and copper meaning less digging into the
big as buses. In Melbourne for example, we are using electric powered trams as public transport.
well, surely it does. But not in a way you may perceive to be necessarily bad. Let me emphasize this: The people who have Electric Cars are better off than those with Petrol Cars. Let me summarize to you sections from News Articles regarding this topic. The Guardian magazine reports that the UK is rewarded funds for providing their cities with certain Electric Vehicle perks.
According to the DOE’s Alternative Fuel Data Center, there is “22,949 public charging outlets in the United States”. In other words the amount of charging stations in the United States are not enough for the population of plug-in vehicles making long distance traveling very difficult to accomplish. For instance, Andrew Moseman from the magazine popularmechanic.com calculated how long it would take to drive from New York to Los Angeles. Using google maps and the tesla charging station the fastest route for a tesla would take 55 hours not including the supercharging station stops. On the contrary, 40 hours would be considered normal not counting the fueling stops.
Electric cars were recently introduced to the auto world. They are very fuel efficient while still having all the practicalities of a regular car. They are quiet and have zero emissions. They also are cheaper to maintain and cheaper to own then a gas powered car. Even though car enthusiasts dislike the idea of going fully electric, it is a very conscientious choice. Electric cars might seem like a useless form of transportation, but they offer features that help keep the Earth clean.
Recently, the price for electric cars has gone up. H. Sterling Barnett is a research fellow on energy and the environment at Heartland Institute says,” In 2016, only 159,333 electric vehicles were sold in the United States--less than one-tenth of 1 percent of the 17.55 million vehicles sold nationwide. ”(H. Sterling Barnett) This evidence shows that not everyone can afford an electric vehicle because they are expensive.
With technology advancing there has been so many chances in our world over the past century. One technology advancement is the ability to run vehicles on electricity. However there have been many question about weather or not electric is better. More research has been conducted over the past years to find out what the benefits and disadvantages are of both types of vehicles. Taking both sides of information in to consideration, the electric car has more positive notions to why electric powered cars are better for the environment than internal combustion cars.
