College is a very important part of life, that most students want to experience. Most students look forward to college because it sets them up to be successful in life. What a lot of students do not understand is how much it costs to pay for college. There are lots of ways that students can pay for college, most of them do so by either receiving scholarships, paying out of pocket, or by receiving student loans. To me, the best way to pay for college is to receive a scholarship. This is because a scholarship has a large amount of benefits. A scholarship is basically the government paying a student’s full tuition cost of school for doing well in High School, and them not have to pay it back. Also, it is a must that students on scholarship keep making their good grades while in college, because students can potentially lose their scholarship if their grades slip. The bad news about scholarships is that not every student can get one. The government can not afford to pay every student’s tuition, because for example if every student gets an academic scholarship it leaves a lot of room for slips up in school, then it is millions of dollars down the drain. With that being said, all students have to work extra hard in High School to be in the top …show more content…
No one likes the sound of paying for school out of pocket, it is very intimidating. If a student comes from a wealthy family, then it will be of their best interest to pay out of pocket. It would be best for rich students to pay out of pocket because they would not have to worry about anyone playing with their money, and they will not have to worry about Sallie Mae bothering them about paying off school loans for their whole life. For example if a student’s take out a loan every semester of their college career, if they do not pay it back, it will affect their credit. Most former students tend to continue paying off college debt for a good bit of their
Many are expecting college to be expensive. They worry about how much they can afford and having to make payment arrangements. Some go as far as to think only rich people can afford to go to college. There is a thought that you have to have good credit to get a loan that takes forever to pay back. Many are not aware of the programs that are o...
Money, Money and more Money. Let’s admit, it 's all we think about and it 's also vital to our survival. When we hear the word "college" the first thing that pops into most people’s minds is money and debt. Of course college means money, but it really means money on both sides. You pay people money so you can get more money later. Sounds
Having the college experience is everyone’s dream, especially High School students who are ready to get out into the world and explore. College is very important for furthering someone’s career, but no one thinks about all the costs and the stress that comes along with college. Tuition fees and costs are increasing more and more each year. Now days it feels like you have to be a millionaire just to attend a good college and get a good degree in what you were attending for. There are some students that do not have a lot of money and live on very little things with their parents, but indeed are very smart and have a 4.0 GPA. Those students are the ones that are unable to attend college if they cannot afford it. College tuition is too expensive,
and tuition plays a major role in students’ decision for attending college. Students according to a 2008 national survey of roughly 1800 students who qualified to attend college 1000 students of those 1800 did not attend college at all. The main reason claimed by 80 percent of the “non-college-goers” was due to lack of money, more especially not enough grant aid. Although a student was well qualified to attend college having no financial aid made their choice to attend impossible. On the other hand, students who couldn’t receive enough grant aid sought other alternatives to go into college like getting loans. Depending on the amount of years one chooses to attend college it can rack up to an unbelievable amount. According to Edvisors, a financial aid website, “The class of 2015 graduated with $35,051 in student debt on average.” Imagine that! It’s no wonder that the students who didn’t receive enough grant aid chose not to attend college. It was because they did not want to accumulate a debt that in most cases they would have to pay throughout their lives, claiming that tuition cost is too much for
There are two ways in which success is determined; Whether or not one was able to reach their goal, and how one is affected by the journey and it’s occurrences.Yes, a prince can save the princess, but if he destroys the kingdom in the process, would his quest still be seen as successful? In Luis Alberto Urrea’s novel, Into the Beautiful North, Nayeli and her friends venture to America on a mission to bring back 7 Mexican soldiers and police officers to their village, Tres Caramones, so that they can protect their town from the dangerous bandidos. Many people would say that Nayeli’s mission was indeed successful because they were able to bring 7 men back to the village. However, in Nayeli’s personal mission of bringing her father back with
Although many don’t get the opportunity to go to college just for the mere fact of money. Which is in fact one of the reasons why many parents and elders actually go back to college later in their lives once they are more established, wealth wise. Is because now they can afford the cost of a college education. As a student I recognize there should be more options on how to pay for the cost of college that way many people can obtain a college education. Although, there a few ways to pay for college such as, scholarships, financial aid, and loans. But often times to keep a scholarship you have to maintain a certain grade or you could lose a scholarship, which could make it difficult or stressful for a student. And with loans they only increase debt. This is another reason why students don’t feel as
Can you imagine having a job for nine months out of the year that makes you work from 8:15 AM until 3:30 PM on every weekday and not getting paid for all of your hard, tedious work? To most of you that sounds ridiculous. That’s because it is. Students have to go through this painful process from September to May and usually don’t have anything to show for it. They dedicate their whole lives to getting all A’s on their report card and when they finally do all they usually get is a pat on the back. Thus, students should get paid for having good grades because it takes lots of hard work to get those grades, it would cause more students to strive for good grades, and it would eliminate the need for a job, which would allow for more studying time.
Most of us go to college because we want to have a good future. We want to have a secure job when we get older, so we can have a happy live. There are a lot of sacrifices we may have to make to be able to graduate a four-year college to get degree. we may have to sacrifice socialization and laziness. There are a lot of people who would make these sacrifices, but they do not have the resources, such as money and car for college, even if they do have car they cannot afford college tuitions. The college tuition is the biggest reason most people cannot go to college.
After graduating high school I decided to go to college. I decided to go to a community college where the price is fair with my family and me and I am getting the same education as someone that is going to a really big college and is taking loans off more than five figures to have to pay for it. College is worth the price to a certain extent. If the people can see that they can afford to go to a really expensive college th...
College tuition bills have always been a big controversy topic for years due to the fact that costs are constantly rising. Many individuals can not afford to pay between 20-60 thousand dollars per year to attend college and get a degree, so now people are leaning toward not going to college period. In the article, "Is College Worth the Cost. Many Recent Graduates Don't Think So," Jeffrey J. Selingo emphasizes good points that many college graduates don't think that getting a college degree is worth the money and stress; however, Selingo does not explain the weight behind a college degree and what it can do for one's future.
College these days are extremely expensive. A lot of kids that make it out of high school don't have a choice to even think about going to college, and having a good education. Even if they do go to college, they will be really deep into debt for an extremely long time. It makes it to where a lot of people have low incomes because their only education is high school, and they are almost forced to get factory jobs, or lower end jobs that pay up to maybe fifteen dollars an hour, sometimes even that. In my opinion, I believe college should be paid for, and if not paid for, then the government should at least pay a lump sum of the college tuition to give people a life they want and to help the communities and the world.
College. It is the seven-letter word that almost every child will hear thousands of times while they are growing up. They constantly are bombarded by the idea that they must go to college if they want to be successful. However, what if this is a false statement. What if college isn’t as great as everyone makes it out to seem. Well, these days some people believe that young people are better off, not going to college. Over the years the economy around the world has changed. It has prospered, and it has fallen. As the economy went downhill the government began cutting funds in areas that they felt were necessary to exterminate. One of the largest areas of funding that was cut was education. Colleges began receiving less money from the government, resulting in a rapid increase of college tuition fees. Due to this, a lot of people believe that college tuition is too expensive for what you get, and not worth the money. However, most people believe that college is necessary in order to further their education, and in order for them to earn their degree. They think that this degree has the ability to help college graduates get a job and work up to a career that only someone with a college level degree is able to achieve. The truth lies in the facts, and statistics. College is the seven-letter word that all people should be thinking about. A college education is a valuable investment that everyone should strive to achieve, and is completely worth the expensive cost.
Those who think a college education is not worth it believe that college can become a setback in life due to the thousands of dollars that college students are spending on tuition and books. Students who attend college will not have the money to purchase a home, spend money on family, vacations, or any other costly items and bills. On the other hand, most college students end up paying for their college loans all of their life or go into debt. They will never have money to rely on since their credit cards will be racking up interest for college loans that need to be paid off. As stated by Paul Taylor in Michelle Adam’s report, the cost of a college education has been at a record level and the cost of tuition and fees has more than tripled which is causing a rise in student debt (58). With rising prices, the economy is making it more difficult for people to afford a college education.
The cost of being a college student can be very expensive. Besides tuition, the additional costs of being a college student is not discussed when signing up for college, nor does the average college student think about it. First time college students are the majority of students that are newly adults around the age of eighteen. Colleges don 't typically inform students on these additional costs are, the only inform them about tuition, cost to purchase a dorm about campus, and the cost of parking if a student decides to bring a vehicle to school.
“To pay, or not to pay?” is the question many people face with when it comes to the problem of motivating their kids to get good grades. The reasons as to whether or not parents should be paying their children for good grades are quite simple, and come down to one question: “Does paying students to get better grades actually work?”. The answer to this question would be no, it does not. By rewarding children with money for doing well in their classes, you’re encouraging them to have the mindset that they are entitled to an award for everything they accomplish or do. Although giving money to excite and motivate students may work the first couple of times, the drive it gives them to do so is not going to last forever.
