This does not necessarily mean the end to vending machines. Instead of unhealthy foods they can just change that to food that are
Most schools have vending machines that sell various kinds of candy and chips. Some schools go as far as having school stores. However, organizations such as the FDA think this is unhealthy for students, and should be banned. Schools should be allowed to have vending machines and school stores. Having vending machines and school stores are the easiest ways for schools to get students to buy things every day. Without these, many schools would not be able to afford to continue numerous school functions. Vending machines and school stores allow students more options for what to eat for lunch. Schools should be allowed to have vending machines and school stores.
Unhealthy foods are what make the money for schools and that is why they serve them for students. (Schlafy) Schools feel like they need the extra money in the budget, even though it is at the student’s expense. Data shows that nearly 60% of all middle schools in the US serve soda from vending machines. (Schlafy) Soda is very high in sugar and is not at all good for children, but it is still sold in school vending machines. The ways food in schools is now are way too high in fats and sugars. This is not good for the children and very bad in the long run. Elementary schoolchildren have an estimated $15 billion of their own money that they can use to buy whatever they want in schools, and parents have almost another $160 billion to give students for food money. (Schlafy) Big businesses see this as a big source of profit and therefore encourage children to buy their products, and want them to be offered in school because of th4e likelihood of children buying the business’s product. All in all, obesity in the US is greatly influenced by the foods offered in schools
I some of you are craving gum right now! Why shouldn’t students be able to chew gum at school? I think students should be able to chew gum at school because it has been scientifically proven that gum helps students focus. Chewing gum will send more oxygen to the brain and will improve memory. It will help during tests and just overall throughout the day.
In “Hooked on ‘Caramel-Colored Gold,” Melody Nelson claims “Despite the increased awareness of the benefits of good nutrition, we are a nation hooked on junk food, and many school administrators are taking advantage of the situation ” (par. 3). Nelson propose a ban on vending machines in schools because junk food is unhealthy for children, and they risk future health problems. I agree with Melody Nelson and believe that vending machines should be banned from school campuses, because they sell unhealthy food, they cause more money to schools for hiring extra custodians, and they are affecting children learning abilities.
Furthermore, schools have become a paradise for fast-food franchises . Vending machines stocked with candy and soft drinks are unacceptable: nearly 19 out of 20 high schools in the U.S. have vending machines that sell pop, while almost 60 percent of elementary schools do. I urge you, Mr. Miller, to ban sugary snacks in our school. These snacks only negatively impact our school. They lead to poor grades, violence, messes, increases costs, and lives. With this ban our school will succeed. We will be recognized across the country as a role model. It is your decision, but if you want to help our school shine and succeed then you should ban all sugary snacks.
To conclude, unhealthy foods in the cafeteria and the vending machines are the worst examples for the kids to maintain the healthy eating habits. Us Parents have to step in to make changes for our kids because in doing so would determine what kind of foods our kids are consuming. We do know for facts they are not getting the proper nutrients while in school, although they do spend in average of eight to 12 hours in schools. We, the parents, can start to make a difference, by attending the school meetings and being active in our kids functions in schools.
“Everyone told me what I couldn’t do. They said I was too young, that I didn’t have enough money, experience, strength, or knowledge. They told me it would take forever and I’d never come home. Well… guess what?” (Barrington Irving) The soda ban is the banment of large sized drinks. This ban will lead us to a future with no rights or freedom. The nation should have our rights and take action like Irving. He didn’t do nothing as people doubted him. He pushed himself to achieve his goal. Our nation should too take action and make a difference. Although some might argue that the soda should be put in place, there are numerous of reasons why soda should not be banned. The soda ban should be neglected because it opens the door to new laws, limiting our rights, it’s contrary to our nation of freedom, and it’s not the best way to regulate health.

Public health law center can evaluate the food supplying in the market also in the school, what management is providing in school lunch that should on the standard of (USDA) United States Department of agriculture and federal law also need to check food items on the vending machine systems in schools.
Ban Junk Food Junk food. Is it the responsibility of schools to ban junk food and promote a healthy lifestyle for children of all ages between 6-18? Yes, yes it is. In my opinion, schools promoting a healthy lifestyle is as important as the children’s parents’ responsibility. Schools have as much impact in that department as children are fed during school hours.
You should not drink soda! My aunt has 222pounds and has diabetes, she feels tired and lack of energy all the time, because she drink 4 (L) Litre of soda every single day! Also she afraid to go to park with her children, but when she saw the disappointment in her children’s eyes, she decide to stop drinking soda, a few month later, she lost 100 pounds, and now she has the confident to go outdoors to play with her kids. Soda is bad for health and no one shouldn’t dink it; not drink soda can help you get a healthy body, better physical figure and a healthy mind.
To begin with, one of the main causes of why the ban on sugary drinks in schools is an important issue is because the number of overweight children in the United States has grown at an accelerated rate with 1 in 3 children considered overweight or obese. To explain, obesity is being considered as an epidemic that affects mostly children for instance each day a battle is led in order that people understand the importance of reducing the amount of sugary drinks that are being consumed. In discussions of schools should ban junk food and soft drinks, one controversial issue has been why schools should tell us on what to eat. My own view is in the middle of banning junk food and soft drinks. There is really good reason why or why not school should ban junk food and soft drinks. There are many reasons schools should ban junk food. One of the main reasons is, it’s not very healthy eating junk food every day. I believe many people would ban junk food and not soft drinks from school. I believe the same thing on banning junk food and not soft drinks from school. I know soft drinks isn’t healthy, but there are non-caffeine ones.
Sodas Did you know that with each 12-ounce soft drink consumed by children increases their odds of becoming obese by 60%(Sugar). Most kids almost always will choose soda over any other beverage whenever there parents aren't around. So instead of drinking milk that helps strengthen your bones they drink soda. Sodas have zero nutrients and big in calories making bad for the body and kids everywhere.
Making a good decision Making candy and soda banned from school is so far a great idea and a good healthy choice. Many schools have banned candy and soda from their campus because they think it’s bad for kids and they want to keep their students healthy and in fit. About one third of American children are unhealthy, overweight, or obese because of making wrong choices and not eating right. Say that soda and candy weren’t banned from schools, it would cause many things.
