Certain countries are considering a ban on animal testing and experimentation. I disagree with this ban on animal testing. While it may seem that animal testing is cruel and unethical, it has helped both humans and animals in many ways. For example, many horrible diseases that have been cured have, at some point used animal testing. This and many other reasons is why there should not be a ban on animal testing.
Firstly, animal testing helps scientists learn how the human body works without actually experimenting on humans. The animals most commonly used in experiments are mice and rats. The California Biometrical Research Association says rats and mice are effective for experiments concerning humans due to the fact that, “mice share more than 98% DNA with humans…” This means that humans and mice share many similar problems and disabilities, making them a good organism to test. Many scientists do these tests to cure illnesses and to find answers that they could not determine in computer or cell and tissue tests.

Animal REsearch says, animals play an important role in medical and scientific research, “Animal studies are always used alongside other types of research such as cell and tissue culture. Computer-modeling, human patients and volunteers are also crucial, but some questions can only be answered through research on a living animal.” An animal’s lifespan is shorter, so more tests can be done over many generations, and computer tests can’t measure the effect of a drug on the whole body. Mice have similar organs and body systems to humans, making them a valuable candidate for research. Whenever possible though, scientists do use alternative ways, but certain answers can only be found through animal experimentation. However, many people argue that animal testing is cruel, unethical, and unnecessary.
This is partially true, if something of this caliber were to be done to humans it would be worse than death. On the contrary, animal research has provided humans with revolutionary results, and the California Biometrical Research Association states, “... after many years of research using rats, mice, and monkeys, polio vaccines were developed and used to to treat this disease.” This, along with breakthroughs in cancer, HIV/AIDS, asthma, antibiotics, organ transplants, and high blood pressure research, have all been done with the help of animal testing and experimentation. Also, other types of research is used, as few as possible animals are consumed, and technology has been refined to reduce
pain. If I could stop animal testing in my country I would not. The millions of human lives saved is far more important that a few animals pain. While I believe that animal rights are important and should exist, i would much rather have my mother alive than hundreds of rats and mice. Plus, in the long run, we as humans are trying to insure the existence of the human race. This will be hard to do without animal testing.
Without animal research, cures for such diseases as typhoid, diphtheria, and polio might never have existed. Without animal research, the development of antibiotics and insulin would have been delayed. Without animal research, many human beings would now be dead. However, because of animal testing, 200,000 dogs, 50,000 cats, 60,000 primates, 1.5 million hamsters, and uncounted millions of rats and mice are experimented upon and die each year, as living fodder for the great human scientific machine. Some would say that animal research is an integral part of progress; unfortunately, this is often true. On the whole, animal testing is a necessary evil that should be reduced and eliminated whenever possible.

On the other hand, many people believe that animal testing is cruel and inhumane. In many laboratories animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, physical restraints, and infliction of pain. Because the animals cannot protect themselves, many people argue that exploiting animals to better the lives of humans is wrong and should not be permitted.

These people who defend animal testing and believe that it is an acceptable practice never bring up the fact that the experiments take place behind closed doors. If animal testing is the legal and wonderful method for curing disease, developing surgical practices, and testing the safety of various products that it is perceived to be by its supporters then it should be out in the open. Animal testing always has been and likely always will be kept hidden away from the public’s view because the companies and labs that perform the experiments realize that if their projects are allowed to see the light of day, there will be a backlash of indescribable proportions by the public for their crimes against nature.
One word comes to mind when I think of animal testing: cruel. Animal testing has been a subject of debate for many years. While most people think that using animals to test products is a reasonable approach, in reality the outcome does not always show how the products will react on humans, and the animals suffer unnecessarily. The United States needs to ban all animal testing like the European Union did because testing on animals is cruel and animals should not be dying from it.
In conclusion, animals should not have to go through the harmful and painful practices of animal testing because it’s humane, it violates the rights of animals and there are safer and more reliable alternatives. There are so many different reasons to stop animal testing, all of these things are done to animals in laboratories but if they were to be done outside of these places they would all be considered as crimes, so why should it be legal in laboratories? Animal testing is not only inherently wrong, but promotes unsafe and inhumane business practices that affects the animal’s life. Animal testing should be stopped immediately.
Animal testing should not be allowed because it abuses animals who cannot defend themselves. It is clear that there are other ways to test medicines, vaccines, and procedures but the government still allows people to test on animals. It is unfair to abuse an animal that cannot defend itself when 7 billion people are on the earth who would give more accurate feedback. The number of people is overwhelming that could instead of abusing animals, we could test on inmates and volunteers who can consent to the possible issues that may come with the tests. Animals have feelings like humans do and they should be treated with respect even though they are just animals.When animals are tested over time they live in cruel and harsh conditions. They are tied up and changed to their cages or devices they are being tested on. Almost all tests fail in humans and it is not worth sacrificing an animals life.Think about all the things animals have to go through all the harsh and cruel treatment.They are put in conditions where they are not allowed to eat or drink and move around. Is it really worth killing an animals for eyeliner that will never hit the market or for drugs that all fail in humans. So here are some of the reasons I think we should ban all animal testing.

Even though animals cannot express their opinions, they still feel, think, and experience pain. When the sciences use animals to do the research, humans still need to respect them because of animals’ rights. Animals have their opinions they cannot explain and humans have a duty to protect animals’ rights. Animal testing should be banned because humans need to respect their minds.
In conclusion, there are many reasons to stop experimenting on animals. As mentioned above If the animals are tested out of the laboratories it is considered as crime.
