Should Abortions Be Legal or Illegal?
Imagine a world where everyone is more cautious and thinks before acting, think how many lives should be saved due to those people by having abortions be legal. Abortion is a very serious matter all over the world with the definition of “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Abortion can be viewed in very different ways according to your perspective and religious faith. For example, some people think isn’t right in the eyes of God and for the unborn baby’s, and others believe it is the woman's body and, she may do whatever she desires with it. I personally believe that abortion should be illegal, because of the fact that we must

As ProCon.org restated “Abortion takes away from the unborn the unalienable right to life that the Founding Fathers intended for all human beings.” Which may prove abortions may not be viewed as the politically correct decision for women to make. Another issue that needs to be addressed about abortion is “Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, over 56 million unborn children have been killed, more than the entire population of Spain. That's 155 babies per hour. About 1 every 24 seconds” according TFP Student Action.org. In addition to the baby’s death, 13% of all woman's death are due to serious complications during abortions claimed by e medicine health.com. Another way of looking at abortions is "When we tell one another that abortion is okay, we reinforce the idea that human lives are disposable, that we can throw away anything or anyone that inconveniences us." which is a great point made by ProCon.org, that reminds us that not all things in life are easy however, it doesn’t mean we can’t overcome those challenges. As Ronald Reagan said “I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been …show more content…
ProCon.org supports this statement by saying “The US Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a "fundamental right" guaranteed by the US Constitution.” This shows the natural rights of being a woman, “The same study also found that 95% of women who received abortions "felt it was the right decision" a week after the procedure,” showing that women know themselves very well and don’t need assistance while making decisions that have to do with oneself. These reasons and studies have proven that women are capable of caring for themselves without someone seeing their every move. While abortion is very dangerous and risky “3 out of 10 women in the U.S. have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old.” which was reported by Planned Parenthood.org. Abortions can be a helpful for women, but harmful to their unwanted
As portrayed in the evidence above a women’s right to abortion should be legal as becoming pregnant is a big deal. Women sometimes cannot control their bodies as they get into situations that are not their fault, like rape. Even though women sometimes could avoid getting into situations that
Citizens all over the globe argue if abortion should be considered legal, even though all states in America already allow it, hence the Roe V. Wade case. Others think it should be withheld and be considered illegal. Although the case was held a long time ago, people still bring it up today. Arguably, I believe that abortion should be illegal in most, if not all, states of the world.
Abortion, like any other medical procedure, carries some risks. When one considers, however, that “the risk of death associated with childbirth is about 10 times as high as that associated with abortion” (“Know the Facts”), the threat of abortion suddenly does not seem as perilous. Additionally, contrary to popular misconception, abortion does not contribute to future infertility or development of breast cancer. It is therefore safer and more prudent to have an abortion than an unwanted pregnancy.
Governmentally, abortion should remain legal because a woman and her family have a right to privacy. Second of all, there is the fetus cannot be considered a person.
The article “Abortion Harms Women” suggests supporters of legalized abortion downplay the health and mental risks associated with abortion. Research has indicated there is short and long-term physical and mental harm related to abortion (“Abortion Harms Women”). Abortion can cause many physical complications for the women, such as infections, excessive bleeding, and blood clots. They can even be life-threatening in some cases. In the article “Abortion Harms Women” the writer points out abortion is surprisingly the fifth leading cause of death maternally in the United States. There are certain complications, including infection, hemorrhage, pulmonary embolism (blood clot), and complications from anesthetics that are responsible for a woman’s death (“Abortion Harms Women”). Also, there is a greater risk of mortality the further along a woman is when she has an abortion. Along with the physical risks associated with abortion, there are the psychological risks. Abortion can cause women to feel ashamed or guilty, resulting in an increase in emotional pain. In the article “Abortion Harms Women” the writer explains many emotional problems that can affect women after an abortion. Some women experience an increase in the use of alcohol and drugs. Studies have shown that 34% of women are at a greater risk for anxiety and depression. Also, there is a 60% increase for women to
...lives are lost through abortion. Females can also cultivate a loss of their fertility or develop more than before miscarriages after an abortion. Not only are you taking another being’s life, you are risking putting damage to your own body as well.
Numerous people are uninformed about how unhealthy pregnancies are on women. There are an overabundance of health risks for pregnancies, including high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney problems, autoimmune disorders, infections, diabetes, cancer, and as well as miscarriages. These health risks can cause permanent damage to the mother. World Health Organization reports that “Every day, approximately 800 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth.” All of these deaths could have been prevented. If abortion is made illegal, then these women have no choice. They either risk dying, risk their child dying, or both. A person might not often hear much about women dying during pregnancy, but it happens often. Nearly 287,000 women died because of childbirth, according to World Health Or...
The words of an unborn baby are ones that almost no one ever thinks of, or hears. One of this country's most controversial topics is abortion. However, if one sees the constitutional infringement to women by the restriction of abortion; the torment to the unwanted child; and the anguish society has to sustain, then this topic would not be so debatable. Too many people do not see the effect that abortions cause. It is a very dangerous offence that affects the mother, father, the community, and most importantly, the fetus, and that is why abortion should be illegal in Canada. First, abortion is against God’s law in many Holy books such as the Bible and the Quran. Secondly, abortion does not only affect the individual, but the community as a whole, and the rights of those people are infringed on. However, abortion does nothing in the cases of rape, or women’s rights, which is the constant argument people in favour of abortion argue. And lastly, abortion should be seen for what it is, murder.
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
Many women describe it as a privilege and miracle, while others consider the act itself of conceiving and carrying another human being as an inexplicable feeling. Those women that enjoy the opportunity of being a mother cherish every moment and appreciate it as a wonderful gift. Although this stands as a beautiful thing, there exists women choosing to abort. Women of all ages may face the decision of whether or not to terminate the life that they carry in their womb through the abortion process. Nevertheless, late term abortion results in terrifying consequences. The procedure causes health complications for the mother, inflicts pain on a living fetus, and kills the unborn baby.
There are thousands of women in the world make the mistake of getting pregnant. Yes, there are forms of contraception but they are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. Approximately 1.4 million abortion procedures are done each year in the United States, with 30% of those women being younger than forty-five years old (ProCon). Without abortion, there would be an abundance of children who are brought into the world unwanted and not being able to have the essentials they need to go through life successfully. The most difficult responsibility a woman would have to go through is finances. 85% of women who wish to have an abortion are unmarried and have to support the child alone (“Abortion Procedures”). Abortion can save a woman from going through financial distress when she is aware that she is not financially stable. Teen pregnancy is common in the world and they are not at a point in life where taking care of someone else, other than themselves, is possible to do alone. Thirty-nine states allow minors to go through the abortion procedure with parent consent (“Abortion Procedures”). All fifty states should allow this because if teens could not receive that choice, then they would have to carry an unwanted baby that they could not take care of after giving birth. Most abortion procedures are during the first trimester (Lowen). During the first weeks of pregnancy the development of the fetus is a gather of cells, therefore killing cells is not killing an actual person so abortion should not be considered murder.
Through every choice in life, there is a decision that must follow. Abortion is a woman’s individual choice; therefore, must be a legal part in todays society. Individual rights have an outstanding role in the controversial topic, on whether abortion should become legal in the United States . The individual rights for abortion show rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. As well, women should be able to have the choice to choose to have an abortion for several important reasons. The right to make these decisions should lie in the hands of the “mother” to make decisions concerning their own to make decisions concerning their own bodies. In addition, women should be given the choice to have an abortion if they are too young and unable to take care their child financially or emotionally. Additionally, the right to have an abortion is if the pregnancy negatively affects the woman's or the baby's health. Without abortions as a choice for the “mother” to resort to while she is going through hardship on deciding whether to keep the baby or not, the endless possibilities could negatively influence the mother to put her and the baby in a dangerous positions.
I believe that abortion should be banned. I strongly feel that pregnant women who want to abort their child/fetus should not be allowed to. For one, should one person alone be allowed to control the fate of another? Technically, abortion is murder, since the baby is being killed purposely. Some say that in the early days or weeks of pregnancy (maybe even in the first couple months) the baby is in fact not alive; it is just a bunch of cells. However, the fetus is breathing, and obtaining nutrients from the mother before she even knows that she is pregnant. Within no time, the fetus also has human characteristics: a head, hands, legs, arms, feet, and a torso. Thus, abortion should be legalized only when murder becomes legal, because abortion is murder.
Abortion should be legalized so there isn’t any illegal abortion and any injury or death related to
