Lockdown
It was Halloween day the scariest night of the year, when the goblins and witches come out to scare people. Everyone at school was dressed up as their favorite character from movies, shows, books, or carrots. During lunch Daisy the bunny that attended Hopping Elementary school, went to the vending machine. Her best friends Lily and Rose were there waiting for her all dressed up as carrots. Every day they waited there for her because the Principle of Hopping Elementary school was a mean and grumpy rabbit that had a very strict policy that couldn’t allow students to talk at all during lunch or else they wouldn’t get to finish up their food. That left the bunnies no other choice but to hide in the hallway between the art room and the gym, in front of the vending machine.

Lily was in the classroom next door with Mr.S’mores and his teacher assistant, Mr.Cinnamon. Daisy and Lily were nice, sweet, and caring bunnies. Through the article, "How the School Shortchange Boys," by Gerry Garibaldi implies that the school setting has experienced a transformation towards feminization. In the past, the child faced numerous conditions that vindicated her trouble in a male dominated society. However, after the deceitful discharge processes, the woman was finally free and all institutions welcomed her input seeking to create a fair society. According to Garibaldi (2006), the modern school setting deprives the boy child freedom to interact and relate in a natural environment (Garibaldi 54). Girls are kind, complacent, understanding and conform to salient regulations without emphasis. With these elements, girls comply with school regulations delivering assignments on time. The boy child is inquisitive, rational and desires logical explanations explaining the reason behind every instruction. The modern school setting does shortchange boys as it creates an unequal platform where teachers favor girls and victimize boys because of their inherent traits.
The shared danger of jumping brings Finny and Gene closer. While the rest of the boys hurry ahead at the sound of the bell for dinner, the roommates playfully wrestle until they are late for the meal. They slip into the dormitory, where they read their English assignments and play their radio (against school rules), until it is time for bed.
Over the course of several months, August guides, teaches, and helps Lily to accept and forgive herself. August once knew Deborah, and she knows that Lily is her daughter, but she does not confront Lily about the issue. Instead, she waits until Lily puts the puzzle pieces together and discovers for herself the relationship between her mother and August. August knows she is not ready to learn the truth about her mother when she and Lily first meet, so she waits for Lily to come to her. When Lily finally realizes the truth, she comes to August and they have a long discussion about Deborah. During this discussion, Lily learns the truth about her mother; that her mother only married T. Ray because she was pregnant with Lily, then after several years she had enough of living and dealing with T. Ray, so she left. Lily is disgusted by the fact that her mother would've done something like this, she did not want to let go of the romantic image of her mother she had painted in her mind (“‘The Secret Life of Bees’ Themes and Symbols of The Secret Life of Bees). Lily struggles to stomach the fact the her mother truly did leave her and she spends some time feeling hurt and angry, but one day, August shows her a picture of Lily and her mother. Ever school carries its legends, secrets, and stories, many which are overseen by the curriculum. In Liberty Elementary, there lies ones secret that tends to stir the minds of the students every so often that Halloween approaches, and the coaches are given the opportunity to scare the children. According to Coach Espinoza, the story ties way back to the 1900’s when the city was in its midst expanding into further other unsettled territory.
Have you ever had something absolutely horrible happen to you and you didn’t know what to do about it? Well when I was in 2nd grade my elementary school, Gales Creek, closed it was the worst thing ever in my mind, besides when I felt like a deflated balloon after my first fish had died.
On August 7, 2017, I completed my first day at McEachern High School. That day was my first day as a senior and I was 17 years-old. I was a nervous wreck, and on top of that I felt like everyone was staring at me. Honestly, that day was completely terrifying for me. I did not know where to go or who to ask. When I came to McEachern I felt different and unwanted.
Tim Stephenson was your typical small town, high school student. One day his shop teacher, Mr. Lane, gave an open ended assignment in which the students were to bring the materials from home to build something using the available class tools for woodworking, metallurgy, etc. This assignment was after they proved a certain amount of proficiency with the skill. Tim decided that his family farm could use a new gate for one of its pastures. He began to sketch what he called “the most beautiful gate” on a piece of paper with metal wagon wheels and wrought iron accents.
Once there was a kid named Noah and he loved t-rexes. His friend, Humberto went to the graveyard to find his turtle. Noah likes turtles, but he said he’ll go in a few minutes. Noah was a very bad kid, he would steal, commit crimes and worst of all, read a book. Humberto would not do that, but he does not care if Noah does that. In their small town, there is a lot of nice people besides Noah. There is this very small girl called Daisy and she goes to their house all the time. She says “she loves trees” and they live in a very big forest.
When I got to the classroom Haydin was just finishing lunch fixing to lay down and take a nap. I asked her to pick out a book that she would like to read. She said here, but I do not know the words can someone read it. She picked “David goes to school”. Her mom was in the room volunteering, so she was the one that read to her. As her mom read each page Haydin would make comments. On one of the pages David was yelling in the halls Haydin said “I don’t do that”. On another page David had gum. Haydin said “No Gum at school.
