On September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center 2,749 people were killed when hijacked American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 were crashed into the north and south towers. 412 of them were rescue workers who came to help. 147of them were passengers or crew members on the two flights. 102 Minutes by Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn, the title referring to the time between when the first airplane hit the north tower and the south tower collapsed, tells the stories of what is happening inside the Twin Towers on September 11th and the fight for survival under unimaginable conditions.
In 1692, one of the most inhumane tragedies occurred in the small village of Salem, Massachusetts. Now infamously recognized as the “Salem Witch Trials,” the trials were based on faulty accusations that charged others of being witches. These accusations resulted in a considerable amount of people being imprisoned and hanged, and it ended with 20 people being killed. 309 years later, four planes were hijacked by terrorists and were set to crash in four important government centers and buildings. Consequently, these attacks resulted in 2,966 deaths and it was the most severe attack ever on American soil. The terrorists were revealed to be Muslims, and that they supposedly did it in the name of “Allah”, which is the Arabic translation for God.
On the afternoon of March 25, 1911, a fire broke out in the 10-floor Asch Building, a block east of Manhattan's Washington Square. This is where 500 mostly young immigrant girls were producing shirts for the Triangle Shirtwaist Company. Within minutes, it spread to consume the building's upper three stories. Firemen at the scene were unable to rescue those trapped inside: their ladders weren't tall enough. Exits were locked, and the narrow fire escapes were inadequate. Panicked, many jumped from the windows to their deaths. People on the street watched in horror. The flames were under control in less than a half hour, but 146 people perished, 123 of them women. It was the worst disaster in the city's history.

It took workers longer than people expected to evacuate the building. People think a cigarette bud landed in a pile of cotton and went through the building landing on other piles. Soon, it went into the building and spread. Workers were jumping from the window and landing on concrete. Some were landing on the net and doing somersaults to the hard ground. The workers were on fire which caught the nets on fire and ripped. The ladder only reached to the 6th floor. Workers on the 9th floor went in the stairway to find it dark. They had to maneuver their way through the crowd. When they got to the door, they found it locked. Employees had locked the doors to prevent latecomers and keep out union organizers. Once the fire department put out the fire at exactly 5:15 pm, they had found 144 workers dead.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. in New York City, American Airlines Boeing 767 crashed into north tower of the World Trade Center (History.com, 2014). The plane crashed into the 80th floor of the World Trade Center. Many people were killed instantly, as a result of the crash. Unfortunately, less than 20 minutes later another Boeing 767 from United Airlines crashed into the south tower of the 60th floor of the World Trade Center. Once again, the impact of the second crash killed many people. Those not killed immediately, were trapped on the upper floors with little to no chance of survival. It was a stunning, and amazing September 11th in the dazzling city in Manhattan. I just woke up remembering my sister, Mia, who got lost during the dreadful time of 9’11. Today has indicated 2 years since she has been lost. We don’t know if she’s or if she’s dead. I went to change clothes and came downstairs. My mom was outside running some errands and my dad was sitting down with a newspaper in his hands.
The night was tempestuous and my emotions were subtle, like the flame upon a torch. They blew out at the same time that my sense of tranquility dispersed, as if the winds had simply come and gone. The shrill scream of a young girl ricocheted off the walls and for a few brief seconds, it was the only sound that I could hear. It was then that the waves of turmoil commenced to crash upon me. It seemed as though every last one of my senses were succumbed to disperse from my reach completely. As everything blurred, I could just barely make out the slam of a door from somewhere alongside me and soon, the only thing that was left in its place was an ominous silence.
“Goodbye, Tom! I'll see you in three days. I love you.” The woman said, standing at the doorway as her husband slowly backed out of the driveway. The feeling over loneliness immediately washed over her, and she began reminding herself that he'd only be gone a few days before he'd be back home to his loving family.
A girl name Elisa was depressed and drove off the Nail. The police could not pull the car out of the cliff because it is so down there and submerged. Her boyfriend was a controlling person and he cheated on her. Which caused her to get sadder and sadder.
About 20 minutes later news broke across the country that the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City had was engulfed into smoke. A loud explosion was heard across Manhattan. Very few people knew what exactly happened. Thousands of people looked up at the building thinking that it was a fire or some kind of , but people had realized just 17 minutes later the South Tower was struck by a plane. Right as the plane hit people knew that this was an act of terrorism.
I was visiting my father’s work the 5th floor of the south tower. From the start, this day felt off to me. It was almost like I had a signal something bad was going to happen. I was sitting and thinking about this until suddenly everything changed. At 8:45 am, a crash shook and frightned everyone tremendously. I looked out and the north tower was in flames, along with an airplane hooked to the side of it. My dad told me to follow him, but I kept watching.
