Short Essay: Percy Jackson As A Hero

Percy Jackson serves as hero by sacrificing his life to prevent the wrath of querulous gods destroying earth.

During a school field trip Mrs. Doone, a teacher, physically transforms into a harpy(a mythical winged monster) and attacks Percy in pursuit of Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt. This first fight challenges Percy. Luckily, Chiron was present and gave him riptide(a fountain pen/sword). The harpy attack is Percy first warning and accusation that he is the lightning thief.

Grover, a satyr, is instructed to help Percy return the lightning bolt to Zeus. He must guide Percy throughout his journey across America from Mount Olympus(New York City) to Hollywood(Hades) and then back to Mount Olympus.

Chiron, a minotaur, helps Percy conquer his first monster by giving Percy Riptide. A fountain pen that when clicked becomes a sword.

After

his encounter with the harpy, his friend Grover reports to Percy that he has be discovered, and is rushed to Camp--Half Blood. Before leaving, they run to warn Percy’s mother, who flees with them. The escapees are close to their destination when a minotaur begins chasing them. When Percy and Grover finally approach the magically boundary of Camp--Half Blood with a gargantuan cinator in tow, Percy’s mother realizes she cannot cross over and is forced to stay behind. Befuddled  by the entire sequences of events that day Percy attempts to pull his mother through the .  
Gabe is Percy’s stepfather. Gabe creates a lot of mischief at home by being a sloppy, stinky grouch. Percy believes that Gabe is a disruption and wants to understand why his mother tolerates Gabe. Despite the clash between booth males Gabe value is significantly important to Percy’s survival.   
Promptly after arriving at Camp--Half Blood Percy is introduced to Luke, son of Hermes. Luke makes a great first impression with his genuine smiles and suave. When Percy begins his quest without direction and equipment, Luke provides his needs. At the beginning Luke’s role is definite; he is the cool, friendly dude from camp. However, Luke deceives Percy by concealing the lightning bolt in the shields he loans to Percy. Luke causes much confusion by framing Percy to be the alleged lightning thief. Although Luke framed Percy his motives were questionable.

Percy must multi-task. He must destroy Luke and the negative reputation Luke has created for Percy, and prevent the gods from waging war against each other because of Zeus’s missing lightning bolt.

Annabeth, daughter of Athena, aids Percy throughout the many battles and important decisions Percy must make. Annabeth supports Percy with knowledge about the mythical Greek world of monsters.
The Lotus Hotel in Las Vegas held Percy, Annabeth, and Grover in a time warp. The more lotus flowers they ate the more tempting it was  to stay in the hotel and forget about their mission.
Luke must be defeated because of  the confusion he caused that almost resulted in the gods annihilating themselves and Olympus.

During a school field trip Percy encounters a harpy that demand Percy give her the ultimate weapon of destruction, Zeus’s lightning bolt.

Percy, unaware that he is a demigod,  is mortified by the shapeshifting harpy and doesn’t have a clue of what is happening. Thanks, to Chiron(a disabled teacher) and Grover(Percy’s best friend), the two protectors who have been watching  Percy are able to intervene. To defeat the harpy Chiron, gives Percy Riptide.

The harpy incident forced Grover to reveal to Percy he is a demigod and currently  is being hunted because he is the posed thief of  Zeus's lightning rod. Now, that Percy’s cover is blown, Grover takes him to Camp--Half Blood a demigod sanctuary.

Before escaping to Camp--Half Blood, Grover and Percy  manage to take Percy’s mother with them. As the thressome approached the boarder of Camp--Half Blood, a cinator began chase them. When they reached the boundary of the camp, it was discovered that Percy’s mother could not cross because she was mortal. Unsure of what to do, Percy attempted to pull her through, but the cinator succeed first and crumpled Percy’s mother into golden

dust.
After recuperating, Percy is re-introduced to Chiron, this time in the form of a minotaur. Worried about his mother, Percy asks what happened to her. She is in Hades. Percy insists that he leave immediately and begin his quest to return the lightning bolt so he can rescue his mother along the way. Chiron is hesitant about sending Percy on a quest untrained. Desperate to rescue his mother from the underworld Percy, Annabeth, and Grover seek Luke for guidance before running away. As expected Luke provides the trio with all the necessities, and even tells them how to enter and exit Hades.

In order to clear his name as a thief and return the lightning bolt, Percy must make it to Mount Olympus(Hollywood) before the summer solstice. Once  the summer solstices commences the gods will wage war with one another. The journey to Olympus includes battling Medusa, escaping the time warp at the Lotus Hotel, and strategically killing a hydra. Percy must uncover pearls along the route to Mount Olympus. These pearls are essential for the group to leave Hades. The summer solstice is in ten days.

Percy and his proteges drive to Hollywood(Hades) to save Percy’s mother who is trapped in the Underworld. Using a magical map, provided by Luke, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover know when and where to stop to retrieve the pearls.

The trio makes it to Hades. Hades discovers the lightning bolt in Percy’s shield. Now that Hades has the lightning bolt he can crush Olympus and become supreme ruler.

Thanks to the help of Principia, Hades wife, they are able to steal the lightning bolt back. Now that the Zeus’s bolt is back in Percy’s possession, it  time to depart from Hades. But, there are only three pearls. Which means only three can leave. Grover volunteers to stay behind, and he does.  As soon as the summer solstice was going to begin Percy and Annabeth  manage to prevent the gods from fighting by giving Zeus his lightning rod.

As a prize Zeus offers Percy immortality. Humbly, Percy declines, and asks that the gods acknowledge and communicate with their children(the demigods) more frequently. Percy also makes a request to bring Grover form the underworld.

Percy, Annabeth, and Grover return to Camp Half--Blood triumphantly. Camp Half--Blood celebrates Percy’s successful quest.

Percy becomes an official Half--Blood Camper.

Percy accepts that he is the son of Poseidon and his destiny as a demigod.

Twelve year old Percy Jackson has ADHD and dyslexia and a reputation for getting kicked out school. His mother married a smelly, disrespectful grouch who lounges on the living room couch occupied by television and junk food. Percy retains no memory of his biological father, except faint memories from infanthood. Although, Gabe is annoying pest his mortal stench keeps the monsters away.
