Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881. He was born in Málaga, Spain. His mother’s name was Doña Maria Picasso y Lopez. His father’s name was Don José Ruiz Blasco. Pablo Picasso’s full name was Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito Ruíz y Picasso. Going by Pablo Picasso made it a lot easier for everyone. Pablo Picasso was a wonderful artist. Picasso’s name is very recognizable. He had such a huge impact on the 20th century. Pablo Picasso was many things. He was a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and also a stage designer.

In Paris he opened his very own art studio. Picasso had many different styles of artwork. He went through different phases of artwork in his life. When he first moved to Paris he went through a phase that is known as the "Blue Period." When one of his close friends, Carlos Casagemas, died Picasso went into a depressed phase. This is where the "Blue Period" comes from. Picasso painted sad scenes that included poverty and isolation. These paintings were mostly painted in blue and green colors. Many of the painting that he painted during this time became well liked. One of those paintings were called the "Blue Nude" which he created in 1903. Another one of the pieces of artwork that he created that became famous was "The Old Guitarist." The painting "La Vie" was also a painting that became well liked from Picasso 's "Blue Period".
Another phase Pablo Picasso went through was the "Rose Period." After Pablo Picasso finally got over his depression, he turned into a new artist. His depressed art turned into joyful art. He had met this beautiful model. Her name was Fernande Olivier. He was a happy man at this time. His painting showed this.
