Dahya Patel Title:Shoeless Joe and Me Author:Dan Gutman Genre:Historical Fiction If you like baseball and you need to find a good book, well here is one it's called Shoeless Joe and Me. It's about a kid name Shoeless Joe who's nickname is Joe Jackson, Joe Jackson played on the Chicago white sox in 1919. They were in the World Series but they lost it because of gambling which caused them to lose the series and they were suspended from baseball and could never play professional baseball again. It was Joe Jackson and a couple of his teammates. If you touched a Joe Jackson card you go back in time and change stuff . Sixty years later a farmer who lived in Iowa his name was Ray Kinsella. While he was sitting in his front yard, heard a voice
that told him to “ build it” and it will come. Ray said “what is it and what will come”? When Ray was a little kid his dad was telling him baseball stories. His dad even told him about Joe Jackson on he was punished unfairly people said on how Joe Jackson tried to give the bribe back that he had stolen and he tried his best to win, he lead the two teams in hitting. Ray sense how to approach the mysterious message. He is going to build a fantasy baseball field, and he is going to have Shoeless Joe, joe Jackson play on it. He is going to achieve his dream that he always wanted to do. To start building his baseball field he went to goplow up some of his farm, then he went to go make infield and outfield, and he even had bleachers for people to sit and watch. As the days go by he hopes that Joe Jackson plays on his field. Eventually Joe Jackson appears on his field and his teammates from 1919 on his white sox team play. Rays family like his wife, daughter, and him go sit in the bleachers, they watched the game and ate peanuts and hotdogs. Rays brother in law mark was walking and saw ray and his family and thought that ray was going crazy because he didn't know that ray built a fantasy baseball field. I think the theme of the book was to believe in what you want to believe. Like how mark thought that ray was going crazy well he really wasn't he was believing in what he wanted to believe. If I had to rate this book on one to five stars I would rate it a four star book. I would recommend this book to people in middle school who like baseball because it's about baseball and how he thought that Joe Jackson was on his field that baseball field.
Book Review of Eight Men Out The Black Sox and the 1919 World Series by Eliot Asinof
A boy who would someday become the Sheriff of Christian County. His name was Elijah Lige Reed. He and his parents had recently moved to Ozark from Kentucky. Lige didn’t understand what he was witnessing that day, but it'd be clear to him as he got older.
My book starts off very interesting, let me tell you about it. There is a teacher out sick and Rush Revere is filling in. He wrote his name on the board and was immediately made fun of because he was dressed up like a man from the 1600’s. Soon Rush starts with his lesson, he shows a video of him and Liberty going back in time and he meets William Bradford. Liberty and Rush come back from the adventure and Liberty is wearing clogging shoes. When he was trying to get the shoes off he flew one through the

In 1776, David McCullough gives a vivid portrayal of the Continental Army from October 1775 through January 1777, with sharp focus on the leadership of America’s greatest hero, George Washington. McCullough’s thesis is that had not the right man (George Washington) been leading the Continental Army in 1776, the American Revolution would have resulted in a vastly different outcome. He supports his argument with a critical analysis of Washington’s leadership during the period from the Siege of Boston, through the disastrous defense of New York City, the desperate yet, well ordered retreat through New Jersey against overwhelming odds, and concludes with the inspiring victories of Trenton and Princeton. By keeping his army intact and persevering through 1776, Washington demonstrated to the British Army that the Continental Army was not simply a gang of rabble, but a viable fighting force. Additionally, Mr. McCullough supports his premise that the key to the survival of the American Revolution was not in the defense of Boston, New York City, or any other vital terrain, but rather the survival of the Continental Army itself. A masterful piece of history, 1776 is not a dry retelling of the Revolutionary War, but a compelling character study of George Washington, as well as his key lieutenants, and his British adversaries, the most powerful Army in the 18th Century world. When I read this book, I went from a casual understanding of the hero George Washington to a more specific understanding of why Washington was quite literally the exact right man at the exact right place and time to enable the birth of the United States.
This is a story of baseball and how it is a team sport. The book relates with the title by showing how this boy named Sandy Comstock that plays on the Grantville Raiders and has a big game coming up. It was against the Newtown Raptors. He wanted to beat them and become one of the best teams. By the time he knew it he ended up on the Newtown Raptors team and he was going to play is old team. It was kind of like a baseball turnaround.
On a scale of one to ten, this book would be an eight since the ending was somewhat slower than the rest of the book. The book is relevant to society today because it explains the difficulties families can face when one member is self absorbed. Warren’s actions caused Paul and many Cubs fans to hate him. Paul could hardly say his name in Calico Rock since he was afraid of what might happen. The book is different from today’s society, however, since baseball records are difficult to break. Many records that stand today are old and new stars to baseball usually do not enter their prime as a rookie. The book can relate well to readers who play sports and understand the game of baseball. Baseball statistics and home runs may bore other people since they have no interest in the subject. All in all, Grisham wrote a great book about baseball and family issues.

2. The title of this book relates to the story, because in the book, Ponyboy and Johnny are “outsiders.” They can be thought of as Outsiders because they are labeled Greasers although they do not act like hoodlums, like the rest of the Greasers. They are thought of as Greasers just because they live on the East Side of town, and because they slick back their hair. But Ponyboy and Johnny are different then all of the other Greasers because they show their emotions, and are sensitive.
Markus Zusak reads as, Death, he watches over everyone during the time of World War Two, taking souls when the time comes for them to be set free. He tells us a little inside scoop of what's going on in the destruction that was happening outside of Liesel's story.
The Natural written by Bernard Malamud was a very well written book. I really am not a big fan of baseball but I did enjoy this novel. This book is about never giving up no matter how bad the situations gets. Roy Hobbs wanted to be the best baseball player that ever lived, who broke all the records, and when he went walking down the street he wanted people to say, “Hey that’s Roy Hobbs, the greatest player of all times.” He would have been excellent and could have played baseball for many years, but someone didn’t want that. He was shot and it injured him terribly. Hobbs finally made it back and was found by a scout and was sent to play for the worst team in the league. I like how Hobbs never gives up. He goes up against the corrupters, the seducers, and the glory destroyers. No one wanted to let Hobbs play because he was old, they thought he should be at the age to retire not to just begin. This book goes to show that you can do anything if you set your mind to it and if you want it bad enough. Hobbs proved everyone wrong. He was worst possible thing happened, he met a girl. He started getting distracted and it a effected his game. Hobbs let a woman mess with his head. When Hobbs would go up to bat, he usually hit a home run but when he met this woman, he started striking out. I guess you could say that she was bad luck. Well, he eventually made is mind get cleared and was back to his old self. Another reason why I liked this novel is because it kind of gives a l...
This book has taught me a lot about Alexander Hamilton. Most of it was a surprise to me. This book includes where he was born, how he moved to the United States, what he had done to contribute to the country, and his wife and kids. This book has plenty of insight on one of our greatest leaders.
Have you ever disappointed your friends or family and just thought there was no good side to it? People get disappointed by others everyday no matter how hard they try.
My great great great great grandfather found his way home, my ancestors remained not all of them but his mother, father and brothers all remained in the land that is know our land. He made his way atop the hill and into the clearing and there she sat my greatest of grandmothers hanging clothes they say she knew in a second that coming towards her was the son she thought she had lost. His father returning from the river fell to his knees at the sight of his little boy that came back as a
