Living Epistles Ministries Founder Sheila R. Vitale

An experienced religious leader and teacher, Sheila R. Vitale attended a number of New York institutions of higher learning including Hunter College of New York and the City College of New York. She founded Living Epistles Ministries (LEM) in the New York hamlet of Port Jefferson Station and delivered her first prepared message, The Truth About Witchcraft, in January of 1988. This was followed by sermons entitled The Seduction of Eve and Evil Children. In addition to preaching and instructing, Sheila R. Vitale serves LEM as a researcher, translator, reviewer, critic, and social commentator.

Sheila R. Vitale is also an author who has published 20 books including unique and esoteric translations of canonical Biblical texts. Her most recent works include the Alternate Translation of the Old Testament and the second edition of The Noah Chronicles. Ms. Vitale and LEM are currently submitting their books for retail sale through Barnes & Noble. Vitale has managed this Port Jefferson Station-based teaching ministry since 1998. As part of her leadership role with LEM, she writes and publishes a range of Christian literature including the three-part series, The Alternate Translation of the Old Testament, The Alternate Translation of the New Testament, and the Alternate Translation of the Book of Revelation. In his review, he states, “one cannot help but think a separate chapter specifically set aside to discuss women’s roles would have also been desirable.” Nevertheless, Sweeney does represent the rich heritage that women have contributed to the movement. Lastly, Sweeney disappointingly concludes his history of evangelicalism with the 1960s. Leaving the reader to assume there has been no significant change in the movement in the past forty-five years. However, this seems unlikely, since Robert Warner has written a book entitled, Reinventing English Evangelism, 1966-2001: A Theological and Sociological Study.
